I'll Be The Warrior's Mother

Chapter 252

Marquis Linden sank down to the ground. Yelena’s eyes widened. She studied her hand. Her entire hand glowed with a white light.

“W-what just happened…”

Marquis Linden kept stuttering, as if he was utterly astonished. But Yelena was just as surprised.

‘This…’

Yelena had merely waved her hand out of urgency after seeing the demon attack Mielle. She had instinctively used her divine powers, but she didn’t know they were capable of such destruction.

Kree!

Then, the demon that had been sent flying twitched, as if it had recovered consciousness. Yelena clenched her fists nervously.

And then, STAB!

Stab!

Spears soared from afar and pierced the demon one after the other.

“Is everyone okay?”

“Dammit, the monsters are everywhere!”

“Don’t worry! We’re here!”

A bunch of armed men burst into the corridor. After checking that the demon was dead, they scanned the people who were in the corridor.

“Are you okay?”

“You must have been terrified.”

“You no longer have to be in fear.”

“We have handled the demons. It’s safe now, so please be at ease.”

The men primarily focused their attention on Yelena, who appeared to be the most frail.

“…”

Marquis Linden’s face was unreadable.

“Ahem.”

He forced his trembling legs to hoist himself up.

“We are all safe, but my daughter hurt her ankle. Would she be able to see a doctor?”

“Ah, yes. Of course. Come this way…”

The armed men helped Mielle walk, disappearing from the corridor.

Marquis Linden stayed where he was instead of following them. He turned to Yelena.

“Yelena, just now… what in the world was that?”

“Divine powers.”

“Divine powers?”

Marquis Linden’s jaw dropped. Then, his shoulders sank from exhaustion.

“…What a day. I need some rest. Indeed, I should look at a relic and calm down my nerves…”

“A relic?”

“Ah, I haven’t told you about it. Do you remember how I had excavated a relic?”

Yelena remembered. Marquis Linden was actively mining for relics. He obtained the authority to do so through a deal with Kaywhin.

“I brought a few relics with me here.”

“…”

Yelena was speechless.

She was well aware that her uncle was obsessed with relics. That’s why he had tried to force Mielle into marriage.

But she didn’t think that his obsession would be to the extent that he would bring them with him as he fled for his life.

“I see. Very well. I hope you rest well—”

‘Wait.’

An idea suddenly came to mind.

“Uncle.”

Marquis Linden, who had turned to leave, turned back around. Yelena opened her mouth.

“Please show me that relic.”

“The monsters are penetrating the fortress again!”

“Stop them!”

“Don’t let them get inside, no matter what!”

Slice!

Thomas wiped the sweat from under his chin after decapitating a demon that was trying to break into the castle.

After arriving two days ago, Thomas had been fighting the demons non-stop.

His life had been saved by the duchess. He owed her his life.

He couldn’t stay still, since he thought that way. All he could do was keep the duchess safe inside the castle by fighting the demons and making sure none of them infiltrated the castle.

“You said there were a few demons. This isn’t a few!” Max shouted. Colin cut a demon and then replied.

“I think those few keep increasing in number.”

“How do these bastards keep getting over this tall fortress?”

A soldier who had climbed up to a high elevation scanned the fortress. He discovered the answer to the question and shouted, “The monsters are gathered in clusters! They’re making towers out of their bodies!”

“What?”

“They’re climbing on top of each other! We have to knock them down!”

‘How?’ The three knights thought to themselves at the same time.

Shooting them down with arrows would be difficult. They were running out of arrows and the demons had extremely thick skin. They would have to aim for the weak spots, or else the arrows wouldn’t land.

“…”

Lost in thought, Thomas turned around and briefly left his spot. He came back with a rope and began tying it around his waist. Max and Colin widened their eyes.

“Are you…?”

“No way, right?”

“I’m going to try to break those bastards up as much as I can.”

“You crazy bastard! You’re going to hang from the fortress and fight the monsters? Are you insane? You could die!”

“I’m okay. Here I go.”

Thomas gripped his sword, the rope firmly wrapped around his waist. His grip was so tight he cut off his circulation.

He had to do something. Anything. For the duchess, who was inside the castle.

“Hold tight so I don’t fall.”

“Thomas!”

Thomas clenched his teeth, about to jump off the fortress.

“Sir Thomas, move!”

A familiar voice behind him held him back.

“M-Madam?”

It was Yelena.
