Chapter 11 - First Day of School and Cohabitation (3)
Perhaps thanks to my pretty appearance, shopping with Hye-eun wasn’t as boring as expected.
It felt somewhat like… customizing a game character?
Since I didn’t reflect in mirrors, I had to take photos, and seeing myself only in photos somehow made my body not feel like my own.
Unlike when I was a man, I could enjoy shopping quite amusingly with her.
Of course, having to constantly change clothes was quite a struggle.
Since we arrived at the store rather late, we couldn’t enjoy shopping for long.
We stayed for about 2 hours?
But thanks to Hye-eun’s astute selections, I was able to purchase enough clothes to last for a while without needing to buy more.
Although the unfortunate event of my wallet becoming extremely thin did occur, well… at least I wouldn’t need to buy clothes for about half a year, so it doesn’t matter, right?
Anyway, after leaving the clothing store, we headed straight to a café.
Perhaps because we had moved around so much that our feet were sweating for 2 hours, I felt quite thirsty.
After quickly ordering drinks, Hye-eun and I caught our breath while chatting about light topics during the waiting time.
Once our drinks arrived to moisten our throats, we began to converse in earnest. She and I had many things to talk about.
“Did you resolve everything with your family? What did your parents say?”
“I think it was resolved moderately well. But they said they’ll come to check if I’m alive once a month.”
“…I think even I would do the same. Honestly, you’re a species that could die at any moment, that one.”
“It’s really sad that I can’t refute that fact.”
Gulp, gulp.
As I was quenching my thirst with a refreshing drink, Hye-eun asked me a question with a worried face.
“By the way, have you heard from Jeong-hyun? There’s been no contact since the species transformation incident.”
“Hmm, I haven’t received any contact either. Jaehyuk also seemed like he had no idea.”
“Ssip… Should I visit their apartment once? Could they have drawn an even worse species than you?”
“Is there an even worse species than this?”
“…Is that so? Now that I hear it, I feel like I might be worrying needlessly?”
No, if you acknowledge it so easily, I feel too miserable.
As I gave her a sharp look with a sulky expression, she quickly changed the topic, perhaps feeling my gaze was a bit piercing.
“Ah, right. How is it living with Grumbler? Any inconveniences? You two always fight whenever you meet.”
“It’s only been three days so it could be just that, but so far there have been almost no inconveniences. We don’t run into each other much to begin with, so there’s no reason to fight. I think there won’t be any issues while living together.”
“Hmm, it’s really surprising that you’re getting along so smoothly. Still, always be careful. All men are wolves, wolves.”
“Pfft! Hey, say something that makes sense! If he were to pounce on anyone, it would be you, not me. That guy isn’t gay, you crazy woman. Have you forgotten when he was caught by you while masturbating to MILF content?”
Jaehyuk’s preference is solely for voluptuous MILFs.
Objectively speaking, Hye-eun’s body was closer to his taste than mine.
The relaxed atmosphere, a mature body, and a gentle voice.
If he didn’t know the owner of that body was Hye-eun, that guy would definitely confess and more, right?
Wow, but that image would really be funny.
If he confessed without thinking and then found out it was Hye-eun, what kind of expression would he make?
Would he look like he lost his country? Or would he say he doesn’t care and continue pursuing?
I was giggling just imagining it, and Hye-eun scolded me to stop laughing.
“Stop laughing, I don’t like it.”
“Why, you don’t like the idea of being with him?”
“Tsundere isn’t my type.”
“…So you do have preferences?”
“Do you want to keep annoying me?”
As I made a surprised expression with wide eyes, Lee Hye-eun took out her halo as if threatening to purify me if I made one more snide remark.
With that terrifying threat, I had no choice but to change the subject.
“But what should I do from next semester? This semester is fine with remote classes, but from next semester, everything will change to face-to-face classes.”
“If you think about professions that work at night, hmm… honestly, that major doesn’t help at all. From what I heard before, most jobs in that field work during the day, right?”
“Public corporations or civil service are the main career paths. Students who go into private companies are mostly those planning to start businesses.”
Upon hearing my answer, Hye-eun gulped down her coffee and clapped her hands as if she had a good idea.
“Then how about looking for jobs that can only be done at night? There are normal jobs like bartending.”
“I don’t particularly like alcohol, and I have no bar experience at all.”
“Still, since we’re on the topic, try experiencing it once. Like a job shadowing experience.”
“Hmm.”
It’s not a bad idea.
Setting aside getting a job related to my major, it was uncertain whether I could even continue attending school.
Wouldn’t it be much better to secure a definite future by trying various things early on?
“Suddenly, I’m envious of other species.”
“Why?”
“If you ask why, I have nothing to say.”
“Ah.”
Except for being ugly, goblins or orcs would be better than this.
It’s not enough to bear all sorts of penalties related to the species, but having to carry real-life penalties too? Does that make sense?
“Haaah…”
As I sighed deeply and lamented, Hye-eun consoled me with a pitying expression.
“Cheer up. Other species probably have many not-so-good aspects, just like vampires.”
“…What penalties do you have, speaking like that?”
I blurted out grumpily, meaning not to comfort me with such empty words, but what came out of Hye-eun’s mouth was enough to shut me up.
“Things like knocking on doors every hour saying I’ve come to deliver good news… well, there are quite a lot of annoying aspects related to religion.”
“…That must have been quite hard for you.”
So other species have their own difficulties too.
I felt sorry for thinking too selfishly, but with her next words, such feelings disappeared in an instant.
“But there is one good thing? When someone knocks on the door while I’m having a happy time in the early morning, the thought of being seen fills me with a sense of blasphemy that… uhuh…♡”
I feel like I’m going to lose my mind.
Really.
[But alien species gays must have it really easy when job hunting.]

They each have one outstanding advantage.
Dwarves have good craftsmanship, so they’ll succeed at whatever they do.
Elves would get a free pass if they applied to zoos or botanical gardens.
From what I saw last time, an orc gay said he changed his career to a fitness trainer.
Pixies have insane miniature creation abilities, so they can copy money.
Isn’t the very existence of alien species a cheat key? The world seems so damn unfair.
If you refute, I agree with you first.

Haven’t you seen them complaining about inconveniences? I felt sorry for them…
They can copy money with miniatures but can’t go out without a cage? If it were me, I’d just kill myself, really lol
How can you just bring good alien species as samples… You should bring pathetic species as samples too.
I’m a dullahan, and I’m screwed in real-time… The dog at home hid my head, and I don’t know where it is…
ㄴ What’s so cheat key about this shit? Lololol
ㄴFor real lol
ㄴThere are really many diverse pathetic species lol
ㄴBut how can you browse the community without a head? Isn’t this fake?
ㄴ Check that gay’s log once, doesn’t seem fake?

After finishing shopping and returning to the apartment, I spent a long time pondering what Hye-eun had said.
“Jobs that can be done at night, or jobs that can only be done at night…”
Creative professions like illustrator or web novelist came to mind first, but I immediately shook my head.
No matter how I looked at it, I, as a person, no, as a vampire, seemed quite distant from the field of creation.
I wrote just the prologue of a novel and immediately quit after receiving a comment saying “Did you have fun writing? I sincerely hope so.”
For drawing, I thought I had drawn a magnificent tiger, but everyone said I had drawn a cute cat, so I quit without regret.
Other things followed a similar pattern; except for cooking, which was at a moderate level, everything else received poor evaluations.
So.
“First, I’ll pass on creative fields, then what’s left are physical labor and a few service industries…”
Even among those few industries, after excluding ones that would trigger my weaknesses, there was really almost nothing I could do.
Including the bartender that Hye-eun first mentioned, roughly three jobs?
Of course, there would be many hidden jobs that I don’t know about, but for now, these were all I could think of.
“What a pathetic species that can’t even find a proper job.”
Sprawled on the bed, I mutter while looking at the ceiling.
Actually, wouldn’t vampires be an extinct species on Earth?
They probably knew their species was pathetic and were living quietly, but humans exterminated them because of one risk: “infection.”
“That’s possible.”
Even I thought it was a stupid idea, but oddly, it seemed plausible.
Among the animals that went extinct on Earth, there were a few that went extinct for similar reasons.
“Let’s stop these sad thoughts for now… but about being a bartender…”
Returning to the topic of jobs, the bartender profession that Hye-eun recommended did seem attractive.
There weren’t any parts that would trigger a vampire’s weaknesses, and there was already someone walking that path nearby.
I’m a bit concerned about the complaints I heard every time I drank with him, but is there any job in the world that isn’t hard?
If you want to mooch off others’ money, you have to endure that much trouble.
“I should ask if shadowing is possible when he comes back.”
I keep feeling like I’m indebting myself, but I’m sure there will be an opportunity to repay it someday.
After finishing my thoughts.
I began waiting for him as usual, browsing community sites.
