Chapter 273: Chapter 30. Berserker is the Strongest!
[Arc4] - 30. Berserker is the Strongest!
---
A surge of black mist crashed down like ocean waves, but in front of it stood an unbreakable boulder. The tide shattered because what it faced was an absolutely immovable figure.
A massive axe-sword was slowly raised and rested on the right shoulder, while the lion's head on the left shoulder opened its mouth as if roaring at the world. The lion-skin cloak fluttered gently in the wind.
"That is..." Luvia's mouth opened wide in astonishment.
"It's not merely borrowing the power of a great hero," Gray's eyes widened.
The two who had been fighting each other finally lowered their hands. Now, their figures overlapped.
They had finally come together to face the world.
"Heracles, let's fight together," Cyd's lips curled slightly as he carried the axe-sword, walking step by step toward the swirling black mist.
Boom———!
The black mist seemed to be intensely provoked. With a low roar, it condensed into a beam and shot towards Cyd.
"It's useless."
Cyd faced the mist's attack with calm indifference. He didn't need to dodge, nor did he need any defense.
Boom————!
The black mist shattered the moment it struck Cyd's body.
"This is the glory I share with him."
When the two strongest of that era joined forces...
Cyd strolled into the black mist as if he were merely taking a walk. Perhaps provoked by his attitude, the roar at the center of the vortex grew louder, and the mist's rotation sped up. The black mist cut into Cyd's body like sharp blades.
"I've found it."
Cyd stomped down on the ground.
They were invincible.
Boom————!
A violent storm, powerful enough to overturn the world, surged forward. The black vortex of mist, like ordinary fog caught in a storm, was torn apart, shattered, and shot towards the sky. The blackened figure standing in front of Cyd took a step back under the force of the storm.
However, it only took a single step back. The blackened servant, as if humiliated, roared furiously at Cyd.
"Shut up," Cyd said expressionlessly, swinging down his axe-sword.
The stone-like axe-sword smashed heavily into the waist of the blackened figure. The enormous force bent his body into an unnatural L-shape. With a gust of wind, the blackened servant flew away like a ball, slamming into the bridge's cables, then rebounding and embedding into the ground.
"Amazing," Illya muttered in awe as she stared at Cyd's back.
"Arghhhhh!"
The blackened servant struggled to climb out. A dense stream of black mist surged towards the sky, and countless blades emerged from the mist, firing like machine guns at Cyd.
"All of these are Noble Phantasms? What a luxurious setup," Cyd's lips curled slightly as he swung his massive, seemingly cumbersome, axe-sword through the air.
The gust of wind that followed swept across the entire bridge, halting the airborne Noble Phantasms in midair and whisking them away into the sky.
Cyd grinned, bent his knees slightly, and cracks appeared beneath his feet. "Here I come!"
"Arghhhhhhh!"
The blackened servant took a step back, countless shields descending from the sky to block in front of him. Corrupted by the black mist, the ominous weapons continuously fired.
This was his strategy. Armed with infinite weapons, he needed no training. He only had to stand still and use his wealth to crush everything. But in this world, there would always be exceptions.
With dust flying and explosions erupting, Cyd charged toward the blackened servant. The wind pressure scattered the black mist, and the axe-sword in his hand deflected every Noble Phantasm aimed at him. Countless shields, famous throughout history, were shattered by his charge.
"It's going to end again," Tohsaka Rin sighed.
"I... uh..." Bazett hesitated.
Her mission was to obtain the Class Card, but how could she fight Cyd? Every one of his strikes was a lethal blow, and she doubted that her attacks could even penetrate Cyd's body.
Lord El-Melloi II was still staring blankly at the Rider Class Card in his hand.
"Arghhhhh!"
The blackened servant roared in frustration, unable to halt Cyd's advance.
As if enraged, countless Noble Phantasms emerged from the mist and began firing toward the front.
Cyd frowned slightly. The servant was now within reach—just two more steps and he could smash his skull with the axe-sword. But at this moment, instead of attacking him, the servant was...
Cyd's eyes narrowed sharply. He stomped down, forcefully halting his advance.
Seeing the sky filled with Noble Phantasms, Luvia's face darkened as she scooped up Miyu and dove backwards. Tohsaka Rin spun around and hid behind Bazett, while Gray transformed Add into a shield to protect Lord El-Melloi II.
The only one left standing in place was Illya, still staring at the sky filled with Noble Phantasms.
There was no escape. Subconsciously stepping forward to get a better view of Cyd's back, no one had a chance to pull her back.
This... might hurt a lot...
Even Ruby couldn't guarantee that the barrier would withstand an attack from Noble Phantasms.
"Illya!" Rin's eyes widened as she tried to rush forward, but Bazett held her back.
"Illya!" Miyu stretched her hand out in frustration toward Illya's back.
Would she die?
[Illya, if you're scared, just shout. That spell will dispel all your fears.]
Cyd's voice seemed to echo in her ears. Without any hesitation, Illya closed her eyes.
"Berserker... is the strongest!"
There was no logic behind it. As just a child, how could she think through such things? But she simply wanted to believe.
Boom————!
A towering figure stood in front of Illya, and with a sweeping motion of his massive weapon, he deflected all the incoming Noble Phantasms.
"Berserker?" Illya cautiously opened her eyes. What filled her vision was no longer the sky full of Noble Phantasms, but the tall, towering back of someone who seemed capable of supporting the entire world.
"Honestly," Cyd sighed softly, lifting Illya and placing her on his left shoulder. The lion's head slid down to his upper arm, making it more comfortable for Illya to sit. "How about having a little more confidence?"
"Eh! I'm sorry!" Illya, startled, extended her right hand, pressing it against Cyd's neck.
"Then, let's go," Cyd waved his axe-sword and began walking towards the blackened servant.
"Okay! Wait... eh! Are you taking me with you?" Illya first nodded seriously, then froze. "No, no, no! I'll just drag you down!"
"Trust me," Cyd grinned as he charged toward the blackened servant. "We'll protect you."
"Uhhhhhhh!"
The rain of Noble Phantasms that had once made Illya feel death approaching appeared again. But for some reason, she wasn't afraid anymore. Instead, she felt incredibly safe.
Was it because she was sitting on his shoulder?
Illya gripped Ruby tightly, as if making up her mind. She raised her staff and aimed it at the falling Noble Phantasms.
Pink beams of light shot from the staff's tip, striking the incoming Noble Phantasms in the sky. Though it was merely a small contribution...
"I'm not just a coward hiding in a corner!" Illya shouted toward the blackened servant.
"Well said!" Cyd laughed as he leaped into the air, charging head-on into the rain of Noble Phantasms powerful enough to obliterate any ordinary servant.
