Chapter 258: Chapter 16. Are You Seriously Going to Hit a Child!
[Arc4] - 16. Are You Seriously Going to Hit a Child!
---
Silhouettes jumped from tree to tree in the forest, all targeting one person: the white-haired youth standing on the highest point, bathed in moonlight, overlooking the forest.
They were assassins. Even if they lost themselves, they wouldn't abandon their combat style. The brighter their target, the larger they grew as shadows. Light can never escape its shadow; they would always lurk behind the target, ready to claim its life at any moment.
"There sure are a lot of them," Cyd lifted his bow toward the sky, slowly drawing the string. A silver-white arrow began to form between his fingers.
"But they're only at this level."
Cyd released his fingers, and the silver-white arrow shot toward the moon like a streak of light. Tiny particles of light slowly fell, illuminating the dark forest, revealing a group of assassins in black tight-fitting clothes with skeletal masks.
In an instant, the moon became incredibly radiant, and the night sky filled with countless flashes of light.
"Meteor shower incoming," Cyd snapped his fingers, "Make a wish."
Boom—!
Countless streaks of light rained down, ravaging the forest. The earth was torn apart, trees uprooted by the impact. The assassins attempting to ambush Cyd were obliterated before they even got close.
The class card marked with "Assassin" flew up from the destruction, landing in Cyd's hand.
"Hey! Isn't that a bit too much?" Lord El-Melloi II yelled through a loudspeaker.
"My wish was only halfway made…" Miyu said dejectedly, lowering her head.
"How about asking Mr. Cyd to do it again?" Gray suggested, holding her shield.
Cyd blinked and raised his bow once more. The tattered forest was once again filled with dazzling light.
Can you even hear me!!!
Lord El-Melloi II's mouth twitched as he watched the lights bombard the forest like overkill. Gray held her shield to block the blast, while Miyu clasped her hands together, seriously making her wish.
"Come on, don't be like that," Cyd patted the dusty Lord El-Melloi II on the shoulder. "Better to be cautious. What if the card is a fake, and the real Assassin is waiting for us to drop our guard? A bit of overkill never hurts."
"If Assassin had the strength to survive a single attack from you, he'd already be in your face assassinating you," Lord El-Melloi II wiped the dust off his face.
Being tall had its downsides. Even though Gray helped block the impact, a good amount of dust still managed to blow onto his face because he was much taller than her.
"Can a meteor shower really grant wishes?" Miyu asked, tilting her head after making her wish. "Isn't it just a phenomenon caused by meteors entering the atmosphere? Does it really have such power?"
"Make a wish and then go out and achieve it with your own hands," Cyd spread his arms. "Then, your wish will come true."
"Then why go through the extra step?" Miyu asked, still puzzled.
"Because people need something to aspire to. Reality's harshness makes them limit their own desires," Cyd placed a hand on Miyu's head. "Faced with the opportunity to wish for anything, people finally see their true desires."
"I… kind of get it," Miyu nodded with a look of half-understanding.
"But there are plenty of idiots in this world," Lord El-Melloi II sighed, rubbing his temples.
The spell reversed, and they returned to the real world. There, they saw… two idiots.
Cyd raised an eyebrow.
It seemed there was also someone hiding behind them.
"Oh ho ho, thank you for gathering an extra class card for us," Luvia laughed, covering her mouth.
"Good job! And no need to thank us!" Tohsaka Rin said confidently, hands on her hips.
"Sorry, but I think I might have hit them too hard," Cyd covered his face. "I'll make sure they get sent to the hospital."
"Luviagelita Edelfelt, Tohsaka Rin, I believe I've taught you before: a mage without a solid theoretical foundation is not even a third-rate mage," Lord El-Melloi II's eyebrow twitched fiercely. "What's your reasoning for this behavior? If you can't give me a satisfactory answer, I'll consider having you retake my class."
"Hmph, we definitely have a solid plan!" Rin pointed at Cyd. "We definitely can't beat this man! But our goal is to get the class card, not defeat him! So…"
"As long as we stop this man from making a move, we win!" Luvia smirked.
"No, no, no, if it's the two of you, I'm already thinking about sending you to the hospital now," Cyd waved his hand dismissively.
"You wouldn't hit a little girl, would you!" Rin shamelessly pulled out someone hiding behind her.
"Illya?" Cyd and Miyu tilted their heads in unison.
The little white-haired girl in Rin's hand was none other than Cyd's neighbor, the mysterious person Miyu always talked about—Illyasviel von Einzbern.
"Not me, don't look at me," Illya mumbled, covering her face.
"Oh dear, things have escalated," Ruby emerged from Illya's hair.
"Are you serious?" Lord El-Melloi II's expression turned stern. "Involving a civilian isn't just breaking school rules; it's much worse."
Luvia's smile became forced.
"We had no choice! That damned pervert wand tricked Illya into becoming a magical girl," Rin shrank her neck.
"And then you decided to have Illya help you steal a class card, right?" Cyd's mouth twitched. "You two… are the worst."
"She suggested it," Luvia sold Rin out without hesitation.
"What!!! You agreed to it too!" Rin lunged at Luvia.
So, the two former magical girls started brawling in front of their teacher, while Illya crouched on the ground, covering her face.
"Just fail their classes when we get back," Cyd crossed his arms.
He had to admit, their moral boundaries had shocked him. The idea of using a little girl to steal a class card? Unbelievable.
"Sure, no problem," Lord El-Melloi II nodded with a deep gaze.
It was true that betting on Cyd not hitting a child was very mage-like, but he didn't appreciate it.
"There's no turning back now!" Rin pushed Luvia aside and pointed at Cyd. "Illya, you've become a magical girl, so you must take responsibility. Transform and grab the class card!"
"Ugh…" Tears welled up in Illya's eyes as she reached for Ruby.
"Here we go! The real magical girl is coming!" Ruby spun in the air a few times before turning into a staff, landing in Illya's hand.
Cyd quietly took out his phone and turned on the camera.
