Chapter 245: Chapter 3. Bazett Flying to Brazil
[Arc4] - 3. Bazett Flying to Brazil
---
Bazett Fraga McRemitz was a very rigid person when it came to her work. When it came to beating someone up, she could employ different methods of combat to pummel her opponent into a state beyond recognition. However, outside of that, she wasn't particularly capable.
Take sales scams, for example…
Bazett stood there, dragging her suitcase, staring blankly at the ticket inspector patiently explaining things to her.
Just an hour ago, a passionate man had tried to sell her all kinds of useless items. Initially, she didn't want to buy them, but the man spoke so convincingly that she ended up buying everything in a moment of carelessness.
Then, during the inspection, it was discovered that many prohibited items were inside, including products containing local seeds. Her already precarious wallet, barely enough for two meals, had taken a hit. But the most terrifying part was... her ticket was gone!!!
What now?
"Bazett Fraga McRemitz, that woman... she's an idiot," Lord El-Melloi II muttered as he put on his sunglasses.
"More like a big fool," Cyd commented, crossing his arms.
Gray looked at the bewildered Bazett with utmost sympathy.
They had witnessed the entire process of Bazett being scammed, but due to some personal reasons, Lord El-Melloi II chose to stand by and watch.
"Isn't she your colleague?" Cyd patted Lord El-Melloi II's shoulder.
"She's not. She's clearly here to retrieve the cards in Fuyuki. Based on the information I have, she's the type to use clumsy and simplistic excuses to brush you off, then beat you up," Lord El-Melloi II casually cast a hinting spell to make the inspector ignore the [Reforged Pandora] on Cyd's back.
"Her strength is unquestionable, and it's too dangerous to clash with her. Letting her be detained for now isn't a bad idea."
Of course, he wouldn't mind using his meager salary to buy a ticket to Africa and send Bazett away.
Hmm? That seemed like a good idea.
"I personally believe in resolving everything without fighting if conflict can be avoided," Cyd said, slightly smirking as he slowly walked toward Bazett.
"Then I'll leave it to you," Lord El-Melloi II waved his hand.
Gray tilted her head.
"Did my friend get into some trouble?" Cyd asked naturally, placing a hand on Bazett's shoulder.
"Uh... this lady violated the regulations. If she can't pay the fine, we'll have to detain her temporarily," the staff member, stunned for a moment, replied seriously.
"Ah~ I'm sorry, my friend here doesn't really understand these things. Where can we pay the fine?"
Bazett, still in shock, found herself being forced to bow her head by Cyd.
Though she wanted to push Cyd's hand away and shout, "Who are you?!" it seemed that this person was helping her out, so...
"I'm sorry!"
Seeing Bazett, who just a moment ago had been so cold-faced and unyielding, now meekly admitting her fault, the staff sighed in relief. They then led Cyd and Bazett to pay the fine, even seriously explaining to Bazett why taking those seeds elsewhere was prohibited.
"Um... thank you," Bazett bowed sincerely to Cyd.
"You lost your ticket too, right?" Cyd chuckled, extending his hand to Bazett. "I'll buy you a ticket. Where are you headed?"
Bazett gazed at Cyd with gratitude as he took out his wallet.
"Thank you! You're truly a good person!" Bazett shook Cyd's hand gratefully and then boarded the plane to Brazil.
"Alright, without her headquarters' support, it'll be a while before she can bother us," Cyd smirked as he returned. "Maybe she can try to fall in love with football."
Gray moved her lips in hesitation. The pure-hearted girl couldn't quite imagine Bazett's expression after being tricked into going to Brazil.
"Gray, I'm doing this for her own good," Cyd said, wrapping an arm around Gray's shoulder. "Given how dedicated she is, she'd inevitably clash with us. And with her straightforward nature, she'd definitely go all out to take the cards from us. It'd be bad if I accidentally injured her, so kicking around a football might not be a bad option."
After thinking for a moment, Gray suddenly understood.
"Mr. Cyd is so kind-hearted!"
"Indeed~"
Lord El-Melloi II shook his head and continued hinting for the staff to ignore the forbidden item Gray was carrying.
One had to admit that magecraft was quite a convenient thing. Using simple suggestions, Cyd and Gray easily passed through the security check with blatantly forbidden items and boarded the plane.
As he looked out at the clouds, Lord El-Melloi II instinctively took out a cigar, hesitated for a moment, then put it back.
"Feeling melancholy and wanting to smoke?" Cyd raised his leg.
"Sort of. It's been a long time since I returned to that place, and I'm not sure what expression to wear," Lord El-Melloi II rubbed his forehead.
"Then just analyze the information as usual," Cyd patted the head of Gray, who had a stiff expression. "If you feel uncomfortable, just take a nap."
Gray hesitated.
"It's okay, Gray. There are still many battles ahead. Even with him around, we must be cautious of unexpected situations," Lord El-Melloi II nodded. "Get some rest now."
"Yes, Master!" Gray nodded vigorously and closed her eyes.
"Do we need to make contact with Fuyuki's local powers, like that so-called Three Families?" Cyd draped a blanket over Gray.
"No need for that," Lord El-Melloi II waved his hand. "The Three Families were greatly weakened during the Third Holy Grail War. After the Fourth Holy Grail War, the Einzberns declared they would no longer be involved in the Grail's affairs. The heads of the other two families are deceased. Although the Grail's system remains, the Holy Grail War will likely never commence again. If not for this current observation, Fuyuki would be an ordinary city."
"Well, even if an abnormal city becomes ordinary, it will eventually be swept into abnormality again," Cyd shrugged. "By the way, does the place have enough natural gas?"
Lord El-Melloi II's hand trembled, "Let's be clear, I'm fully responsible for this. I don't have the funds to bribe reporters and news agencies to change their reports."
"Ah~ So why exactly are you coming to Fuyuki?" Cyd asked, raising an eyebrow. "You usually avoid such crude assignments, don't you?"
"The reason... is probably fate," Lord El-Melloi II looked at the window beside him. His tired reflection was cast on the glass. "I want to confirm if, among those cards..."
"Is that King there?" Cyd sighed helplessly. "Still can't let go, huh? You do realize that battles will happen."
"How could I possibly let go? If that King truly appears, in that form..." Lord El-Melloi II closed his eyes.
Even though he had decided to keep moving forward, the man in front of him still chased an unreachable figure.
He would never allow that figure to be distorted!
"I'll end it myself. I won't let him fall at anyone else's hands."
"But you can't beat him."
Cyd bluntly exposed Lord El-Melloi II's weakness.
"S-Shut up!" Lord El-Melloi II's face turned red.
"So just use me as your pawn," Cyd extended his hand to Lord El-Melloi II. "Use me to defeat that army that conquers the world."
"Not a pawn, but a companion," Lord El-Melloi II grasped Cyd's hand. "We'll face this together!"
