Chapter 4
Shi Yi pointed accusingly at the two big men who had just gotten up, shouting, “Those two bastards were fondling me and touching my chest. It’s utterly disgusting.”
Pei Xing’s expression suddenly turned cold, and he glared at the two men. Without hesitation, he moved forward and crippled both of them. He pinned one of them down, then proceeded to step on the arm and tortured them slowly.
The wails of agony filled the air, leaving the onlookers in shock.
Lu Chao stepped in to intervene, urging Pei Xing to calm down, “Hey, brother Pei, calm down. Killing someone won’t do us any good; we could end up facing murder charges.”
Pei Xing pushed him away and his gaze remained frigid, devoid of any warmth. He seemed to view the two men as vile beasts rather than human beings.
“We’re Master Fan’s people from the town; it’s better not to stir up trouble,” the man held back by Zhou Yan tried to intimidate them when they realized that they couldn’t win the fight.
Lu Chao sneered and shook his head. He asked, “Who is this Fan family? I’ve never heard of them, but I’m well-acquainted with the Lu family in Zhongzhou. Unfortunately, Lu Fengrun is my grandfather.”
His words stunned the man. Lu Fengrun was renowned throughout the Dayu Dynasty, and his fame extended beyond the borders. He had served as The Imperial Teacher and Prime Minister for three dynasties, later retiring to establish the prominent Lu family and becoming the first imperial merchant in Dayu.
The man understood that they wouldn’t achieve their goal today. However, returning empty-handed would bring criticism, so they decided to leave the older captives behind while taking the younger ones back with them.
Lu Chao looked at Pei Xing, seeking his decision.
Pei Xing’s gaze remained fixed on the person in his arms, focused on the faint outline of a lotus flower mark between Shi Yi’s eyebrows. For a moment, it felt like fireworks were going off in his mind, and a tingling sensation coursed through his body and bones.
Pei Xing was deeply immersed in the astonishing realization that Shi Yi had become a shuanger, leaving him momentarily speechless.
The man from Master Fan wore a surprised expression, presuming that they had agreed to the terms. Yet, in the next instant, Shi Yi launched into a vehement tirade.
.
“You must be out of your minds! You’re a bunch of perverts engaging in the heinous act of buying and selling people. I’ll go to the government office and report you.”
The people around them responded with mocking laughter and disdainful glances.
The man didn’t take Shi Yi seriously at all; he simply turned his gaze back to Pei Xing, waiting for his response.
“No, absolutely not,” Shi Yi roared indignantly, clutching the lapels of Pei Xing’s clothing. He raged, “Pei Xing! If you hand my brother over to them, I won’t give myself to you.”
Pei Xing arched an eyebrow. “Okay. My…wife doesn’t agree.”
The man appeared as if he had bitten into something bitter. Lu Chao chuckled dumbfoundedly and observed the intriguing exchange between Pei Xing and Shi Yi.
Pei Xing turned to the Aunty He and inquired, “How much did you sell for these two?”
Aunty He pondered for a moment and replied, “Well, we won’t sell him for cheap, at least a hundred taels.”
Pei Xing made an offer, stating, “I’ll give you two hundred taels, and I’ll take them both, the older and the younger.”
Aunty He was elated, thinking that Master Fan had only offered their family a hundred taels, and now she had secured an additional hundred taels merely by opening her mouth.
The man’s expression shifted, and he considered making a move, but Zhou Yan restrained him. Though they possessed martial arts skills, they were no match for Pei Xing, Zhou Yan, and the others. Engaging them would only result in their own demise.
Upon hearing that Pei Xing intended to purchase them, the man became resistant. “What do you mean? I won’t sell.”
Pei Xing clicked his tongue and remarked, “If you don’t want to, then so be it. You can become Master Fan’s concubine.”
This prompted aunty He to intervene, stating, “He is not the master here. Their household registration is under my man, so I am the owner.”
The man captured by Zhou Yan took every opportunity to address aunty He, offering a proposition, “We’ll buy them. We’ll give you a hundred taels and you can sell them to us.”
After hearing this, their entourage of servants seemed ready to take action.
Shi Yi, overwhelmed with fear, clung to Pei Xing, urgently pleading, “Sell! Sell! Get me the money quickly! Buy me!”
A knowing smile curled on Pei Xing’s lips.
.
Song Ning, however, voiced his reservations, “Brother Pei, there must be other ways to rescue them rather than buying and selling people. This…”
Zhou Yan interjected, “Xiao Ning, don’t you understand who Pei Xing is? Even if he buys them back, will he mistreat them?”
“Of course not.” Song Ning glanced at the child in his arms and then at the shuanger, who was cradled in Pei Xing’s arms. “I just don’t understand why Brother Pei wants to buy them.”
Lu Chao, still swaying his fan, squinted as he inquired, “Why? The mighty Elder Brother Pei will return home to a warm the bed, while the younger one will be raised his child. Alas, Brother Ning, Brother Zhou, you’re still so naive.”
Song Ning appeared incredulous at Lu Chao’s words.
Lu Chao raised his voice and asked Pei Xing, “Brother Pei, why are you so intent on buying them?”
Pei Xing chuckled softly and explained, “I’ll raise the younger one as my child, but as for the older one… he has many uses.”
Then he leaned down to Shi Yi’s ear and whispered, “Lie down and let me have some fun with you.”
Though his voice was low, the two martial artists had been hearing and didn’t miss a word.
Zhou Yan was stunned, nearly dropping his jaw in astonishment.
Shi Yi shot him an angry glare, his ears blushing crimson, and retorted, “You dog-headed wretch!”
