I Was Sold to My Mortal Enemy (Double Transmigrations)

Chapter 13 - I

The boat journey lasted for two days, and it made a stop at Zhongzhou City. Lu Chao offered to have them stay overnight, but Pei Xing declined and instead rented a speedboat with Zhou Yan and Song Ning. By evening, they had reached Xiangshan Village.

Xiangshan Village was nestled against a backdrop of imposing, steep mountains, with a thousand-year-old temple, Xiangshan Temple, gracing one of the peaks. This mountain had become known as Xiangshan, and the village at its foothills shared the same name.

Perhaps due to the blessings of Buddhism, this area had been disaster-free for centuries, enjoying consistently good weather, and the villagers led prosperous lives.

In front of the village flew the clear Lushui River, a tributary of the Zibo River. The river made boat travel more convenient.

The journey brought them to the village’s edge, close to the mountain’s base. There, a simple, four-sided pavilion had been erected near the water’s edge to serve as a ferry station. Only a few boats were moored, and a man in humble clothing sat within the pavilion.

Fruit trees were planted at the mountain’s foothills, with vegetables cultivated beneath their shade. Crabapple trees surrounded the fruit trees, their branches adorned with fiery red blossoms, creating a striking contrast. Next to the orchard stood a green brick house. Its size was not particularly impressive, but it stood out due to the walls covered in pink roses.

As the day neared evening, it was a quiet time for farming, and there were no farmers in the fields. Thin wisps of white smoke emanated from several village homes, accompanied by occasional laughter from children. Upon docking, Zhou Yan eagerly jumped off the boat, but then he realized that Song Ning hadn’t disembarked yet. He returned to assist him.

With Song Ning holding his hand, they both landed and quickly made their way toward the four-sided pavilion. The man in the pavilion, after seeing them, rose and approached. He tried to mask his eagerness but couldn’t hide his joy. Song Ning rushed into his arms and called him “Dad.”

“Dad, why are you sitting here?” Zhou Yan scratched the back of his head and asked with a joyful expression.

Song Ning’s father patted him back, saying, “Alright, you’re all grown up, and you still act like a child with me.”

Unfazed, Song Ning clung to his arm and expressed, “Dad, after this exam, I don’t want to take any more exams.”

His father remained silent. He turned to Zhou Yan and inquired, “Xiao Yan, how do you feel about the exam?”

Zhou Yan, not feeling particularly confident, replied modestly, “I think I did okay.”

Song Ning’s father sighed. He didn’t seek fame or wealth, but he believed that if his two children could achieve recognition, their lives would be easier in the future.

Pei Xing held Xiao Liu and called him “Uncle Dashan.”

Shi Yi noticed that despite the graying temples, his sharp eyes, strong and tall physique made him appear as though he were only in his forties.

Father Song acknowledged their presence and didn’t ask many questions. He simply mentioned that Uncle Lin and Aunt Hong had prepared a big meal, and everyone should be gathering soon.

Pei Xing accepted the invitation and led Shi Yi to their home.

.

As they approached, Shi Yi was surprised to see a wisteria flower stand in the southwest corner of the yard with a round table underneath and pomegranate trees laden with fruit nearby.

As they entered the house, Shi Yi was taken aback to find modern furniture, including tables, chairs, and sofas. The room was adorned with white floor tiles. He hadn’t noticed earlier, but now he realized that even the courtyard had a cement floor. The windows were made of glass. For a moment, it felt like he had been transported back to modern times.

“You didn’t do all of this, did you?” Shi Yi asked in disbelief.

Pei Xing proudly claimed credit, saying, “How do you like it? This will be our home from now on, and no one will object to us being together anymore.”

Shi Yi gazed at him in amazement, and his eyes twitched. He quickly turned to the side and pulled Xiao Liu closer, his voice trembling slightly, “We are together, but where is the bathroom?”

Pei Xing led him to the inner room and pushed open a bamboo-woven door, revealing a spacious area of about twenty square meters. In the center was a large white ceramic bathtub, separated by a bamboo curtain, which housed a toilet and a urinal.

Shi Yi decided that he was no longer in a position to complain and figured that it wouldn’t be surprising if Pei Xing built a cannon one day.

Pei Xing handed him clean clothes and then went to the bathroom located in the northeast corner of the backyard. This bathroom was relatively spacious, with three compartments made of wooden boards, each featuring a urinal. There was also a bathtub, with hot water being supplied from outside through a bamboo tube.

Pei Xing removed his clothes, revealing his strong and well-defined muscles. His back and waist were particularly prominent, a perfect embodiment of masculine strength with smooth muscle lines, a broad back, and powerful legs, akin to a ready-to-pounce tiger.

Pei Xing poured water from a ladle over himself, finally feeling at ease. His thoughts had been consumed by Shi Yi, who had traveled through time and was now taking a bath in his room. As he contemplated this, his heart swelled with warmth and excitement.

.

Shi Yi, submerged in the bath with Xiao Liu, let the water flow over his body. He curled up, his eyes distant, and the corners of his eyes appeared slightly red as the water rolled down from the top of his head and traced down his cheeks.

Xiao Liu called out to him several times, but he didn’t respond. The young child hurriedly swam over, hugging him and referring to him as “third brother.”

Shi Yi suddenly embraced him tightly, whispering “good boy.” It took a while before he let Xiao Liu go. In this moment, no one knew the depth of his gratitude towards the original body that had allowed him to be reborn and meet Pei Xing in this time and space. He felt a profound debt to the original family and knew he would spend his life repaying it.

Rubbing the little head in his arms, Shi Yi assured, “My dear, third brother will make sure you have a good life in the future.”

Xiao Liu gazed up with his innocent expression and declared, “Third brother, when I grow up, I also want to have a good life. I’ll make sure you have a good life too.”

Shi Yi’s eyes welled up with emotion, and he planted a kiss on Xiao Liu’s forehead.
