6. The End of Sasaki Emi A
That day, my mother told me to go out for a while as she was going to clean up our newly moved house. She said there was a park nearby where I could spend some time. We didn’t have a park near our previous house, so I was excited to see what it would be like. I headed there, not knowing that my life was about to change dramatically.
At the park, there was a boy around my age sitting alone on a swing. Thinking he might be a neighbor, I approached him, wanting to make friends.
“Um… hello,” I said.
“…”
My mother had always told me to greet people when I met them, so I followed her advice.
The boy looked up silently.
“Tch, how annoying,” he muttered.
“I-I’m sorry,” I stammered.
He was a very intimidating boy. Fear spread through my entire body, telling me that if I stayed here, something terrible might happen.
Suddenly, the boy stood up, glared at me, and spoke.
“From this moment on, you are my slave.”
“…Yes,” I replied.
I didn’t understand the meaning of “slave,” but somehow my body seemed to comprehend it. My consciousness died at that moment…
—
“Get as much information as you can about ‘Jumonji Takeru’ from our class. He could be a weak point.”
“Yes.”
I am now the slave of a person named Akeshi Hidetaka. My mouth moves, my body moves, but I cannot take any action of my own will. It’s like watching TV, my body only listens to what Akeshi Hidetaka says.
Without time to sleep, I follow a boy named Jumonji Takeru. On another day, I follow his sister, Jumonji Risa. On yet another day, I follow a different woman.
I pretend to be a friend.
I throw water from a bucket.
My skirt is removed.
I betray secrets I was told to keep absolutely confidential to Akeshi Hidetaka.
I help create alibis for Akeshi Hidetaka.
I throw indoor shoes in the trash.
I tear notebooks and textbooks to shreds with a cutter.
I steal keys and have them duplicated.
I investigate problematic family structures.
All homework is dumped on me.
My lips are stolen.

“Huh!? What?”
One day, my will suddenly revived. The feeling of constantly watching TV finally disappeared, and the sensation of “freedom” returned to me. It felt like it had been about 10 years.
But what I didn’t understand was that I found myself with several people in what seemed to be a river area.
“Tch, what are you doing!? Emi! Restrain Takeru!”
“Y-Yes!”
Losing the sense of freedom I had just regained, I reached out to grab a man I didn’t know well.
“Huh? W-Who? … What’s going on?”
Who is this man? I don’t understand. I don’t even understand how I’ve been living until now…
“Emi!”
“Eek!? W-Who are you!?”
Someone I vaguely recognize. A man who resembles the boy who stole my will that day in the park calls me by name familiarly, and my fear rises.
It’s disgusting, disgusting, disgusting.
The act of a stranger calling me so familiarly fills me with revulsion, and my whole body breaks out in goosebumps.
I have to run away.
Dad, Mom, help me!!
“Emi!! Jump into the river and die!!”
“What!? Hidetaka, you…!?”
I thought I could trust the other man who was with us. Instinctively, I knew that if I stayed with him, I couldn’t be controlled. But…
“N-No… W-Why would you…?”
My body turns in a direction different from where I wanted to go.
My body leaps, and I fall headfirst into the river.
“[Unintelligible sounds]”
Unable to resist any longer, I completely lost consciousness.
I won’t forgive you…!!
I feel nothing but hatred for the name Akeshi Hidetaka.
I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you!!
If I ever meet you again…
I want to kill you.
—
“Huh…?”
When I woke up in the morning, tears were flowing from my eyes.
Had I had a scary dream?
A terrifying fantasy as if I was being killed.
“I feel like Jumonji-kun was in my dream somehow…”
A boy who claims to be Hidetaka’s best friend, whom I met recently.
For some reason, he seems more reliable than before I had the dream.
I wonder why I feel this way?
“If only I could have a dream where I do something with Hidetaka-kun instead…”
“…That might be nice.”
Perhaps influenced by the romance dramas my mother often watches, I immediately overlay those scenes with Hidetaka-kun.
“Emi? It’s time to get ready!”
“Okay!”
And so, another ordinary day begins.
