Chapter 20:

Chapter 20:

“Young Master, please stand up for me!”

As soon as Wen Qiang was brought into the villa and saw Lin Hai sitting on the sofa, he immediately fell to his knees with a loud thud and started wailing.

Lin Hai noticed the bloodstains on his legs and quickly stood up. “What happened to you?”

Wen Qiang immediately started crying and complaining. “It was that little bastard Lin Chuan! He stabbed me!”

“Lin Chuan? You were exposed?” Lin Hai was instantly alarmed.

He had spent a small amount of money to buy Wen Qiang’s loyalty and arranged for him to be transferred to Lin Chuan’s side, intending to have him monitor Lin Chuan’s every move.

So far, Wen Qiang had not disappointed him, regularly feeding him valuable intelligence.

But if he had been exposed, he would be completely useless now.

Not only would Lin Hai not help him seek revenge, but he would also push him out as a scapegoat.

At this stage, he wasn’t ready to go head-to-head with Lin Chuan—not until he officially secured his position as the Lin family’s heir.

“No, I wasn’t exposed!” Wen Qiang hurriedly revealed everything Lin Chuan had instructed him to do.

“You’re saying… Lin Chuan sent you to spy on me?”

Hearing this, Lin Hai nearly burst out laughing.

“Yes!”

“Pfft—hahaha…”

Lin Hai couldn’t hold it in any longer and laughed so hard he almost fell off the sofa. “This is killing me! I knew he was stupid, but I didn’t think he was this stupid! He actually sent you to spy on me? Hahaha!”

Wen Qiang immediately moved closer and flattered him. “That kid is completely delusional. With his pathetic intelligence, he dares to play mind games with you? Young Master, what should I do now?”

Lin Hai wiped away the tears from his laughter. “Since he’s using a deception tactic, we might as well play along.”

“He wants you to gather intelligence on me? Then let’s give him some information. Whether or not he can make use of it… well, that’s up to him.”

“Young Master, you’re brilliant!” Wen Qiang quickly praised. “Oh, by the way, that kid also said Butler Chen advised him to hurry up and marry Lu Chaoge. This old butler dares to break the family’s rules. Should we report him to the Patriarch?”

“No need.”

Lin Hai waved his hand dismissively. “Chen Jirong holds a high position in the Lin family. A small issue like this won’t be enough to bring him down. Hmph, once I take full control of the Lin family, I’ll deal with that old man properly.”

Wen Qiang nodded in agreement.

Lin Hai’s expression darkened. “However, Lu Chaoge is indeed a problem. She has a strong business acumen. If they really get married, dealing with Lin Chuan in the future will become much harder.”

Wen Qiang quickly asked, “What should we do next?”

Lin Hai thought for a moment before sneering. “I heard that Lu Chaoge despises Lin Chuan and has always wanted to break off the engagement, but the Lu family won’t allow it. Since that’s the case, why don’t we help her out? Let’s give her a solid reason to call off the engagement.”

“Young Master, you’re a genius!” Wen Qiang flattered again.

Lin Hai’s smirk gradually faded, replaced by a chilling murderous aura.

“Lin Chuan, you took twenty years of wealth and glory from me. Now, I’ll make you pay for it with the rest of your life!”

At the headquarters of Lu Medical & Health Group.

Lu Chaoge finished signing the last document on her desk and leaned back in her chair, exhausted.

At that moment, a knock sounded at the door.

“Come in.”

She quickly composed herself.

No matter how tired she was, she always presented the strongest image in front of others.

Her assistant, Xu Manli, walked in gracefully. “President Lu, the front desk just received an anonymous letter for you.”

Xu Manli sauntered over to Lu Chaoge’s desk, her movements full of charm.

She was dressed in a striking red business suit, exuding a sultry aura.

Her slender waist was so slim that many women would be envious, seemingly fragile enough to snap in the wind.

Lu Chaoge didn’t take the letter immediately. Instead, she frowned at Xu Manli.

“Manli, I’ve warned you so many times—don’t dress so provocatively at work. Why won’t you listen?”

Xu Manli casually flicked her voluminous wavy hair over her shoulder.

“You ungrateful thing. How dare you say that? I work overtime with you until midnight every day, all year round without a break. When else would I have time to dress up?”

“But you don’t have to dress so seductively! Look at your lipstick, your outfit—how are the male employees supposed to concentrate?” Lu Chaoge huffed, even more annoyed by her defiance.

“I’m actually doing you a favor by testing their willpower. If they can’t even resist this, then it proves they lack self-control. And employees like that should never be trusted with important tasks.” Xu Manli spoke with complete conviction.

Lu Chaoge was utterly defeated by her logic.

“With a temptress like you around, no man can pass that test.”

Shaking her head, she reached for the anonymous letter, ready to open it.

“Wait!” Xu Manli suddenly stopped her and snatched it away.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Chaoge looked at her in confusion.

“I’ll open it for you. What if there’s something dangerous inside?” Xu Manli said while carefully opening the envelope.

Lu Chaoge was deeply touched.

Xu Manli was probably the only person in the world who genuinely cared about her.

Even her own father only saw her as a tool for political marriage.

Everyone else had their own agenda.

Only Xu Manli always stood in front of her, shielding her from danger.

They weren’t just business partners; they were best friends in life.

Xu Manli carefully pulled out a stack of A4 papers from the envelope.

She didn’t hand them over right away but read through them first.

If it were anyone else, reading the boss’s personal letters would get them fired immediately.

But between the two of them, there was no such formality.

After reading, Xu Manli’s stunning face lit up with excitement.

“Chaoge! You hit the jackpot! Your dream is about to come true!”

Lu Chaoge was confused. “My dream? Am I about to get rich?”

“Rich? You’re already loaded. No, this is something you’ve dreamed about for years!” Xu Manli teased.

“Dreamed about? Don’t tell me my company is going public?” Lu Chaoge tilted her head, trying to guess.

She was too exhausted these days to even dream.

The moment she hit the bed, she was out like a light until morning.

“You and your nonsense!” Xu Manli rolled her eyes.

“Ugh, I really have no clue. Just tell me already!” Lu Chaoge gave up guessing.

“Fine, I’ll let you see for yourself.” Xu Manli handed over the papers.

Lu Chaoge took them and glanced at the first page—her eyes widening in shock.

The opening sentence of the anonymous letter was enough to make her heart race.

“Lin Chuan is about to lose his position as the heir of the Lin family!”
