Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Kuina Who Changed Destiny
Stussy watched as Sig's figure gradually disappeared into the distance. She stood silently on the spot for a long time.
This scene felt oddly familiar to her.
"Are you trying to lure me into attacking you again?"
Stussy muttered to herself.
The first time she met Sig, she had attempted to ambush him while hiding on a pirate ship, only to end up miserably defeated.
Just after boarding this ship, Sig had said something about giving her freedom. Yet when she truly tried to run, something strange happened, as if a bizarre technique was employed to stop her.
The same trick—how could she possibly fall for it a third time?
Stussy remained vigilant, her mind still replaying Sig's words from earlier.
"Stussy, everything that just happened was my warning to you. I'm very disappointed that you made me wait so long into the night."
"Now, go cook all this seafood."
His tone was so nonchalant, as if her attempted escape was of no consequence.
The so-called punishment was simply to prepare a seafood meal.
This only deepened Stussy's confusion. A question lingered in her mind.
How much of her actions did Sig know?
Had her secret communication with the CP0 officer been discovered by Sig?
If so, why was the punishment so mild and indifferent?
After a moment's thought, Stussy turned her gaze to the pile of seafood beside her feet.
The path to the captain's quarters wasn't particularly long, yet Sig found it incredibly arduous.
By the time he collapsed onto his bed, he was nearly out of strength.
This adventure had sounded an alarm in Sig's mind.
Unlike before, this time Sig had taken the initiative to stir up trouble, believing that with the Revolutionary Army's support, he could boldly increase his compatibility score.
Opening the system panel for a glance, he saw that his compatibility with the Li Jing card had risen to 21%. That was all.
"The first time I saw Garp, I couldn't even stand."
"This time, I could at least pinch my thigh and walk over?"
"After experiencing so much, could it be that my courage has unconsciously grown? Am I regressing now?!"
Sig couldn't help but feel anguished.
Beyond that, Stussy's report to the CP0 officer left him uneasy.
It might be because of his connection with the Revolutionary Army that CP0 planned to use a long-term strategy, temporarily refraining from taking action against Sig.
But in the long run, this only made Sig's situation more precarious.
What terrified Sig the most, however, was Stussy herself, who was already aboard the ship.
Sig truly had no means to subdue Stussy and could only rely on the Revolutionary Army's strong fighters for assistance.
This time, the Revolutionary Army didn't intervene. Sig managed to bluff Stussy for now, but what about the future?
In the face of Stussy's overwhelming strength, any slip in Sig's performance would lead to complete failure.
The next day.
Sig, burdened with unease, woke up from his bed to hear a commotion on the deck.
He walked up to the deck, only to be drawn to the scene before him.
Stussy had already put on an apron and, holding a mop, was diligently working early in the morning to clean the deck.
Even while wearing an apron, Stussy's graceful figure was impossible to conceal, drawing the attention of a large group of mountain bandits.
"Miss Stussy, you've really taken up the role of a cleaning lady now, huh?"
"The boss went way too far this time. Don't worry; I'll plead with him for you later," someone said, thumping his chest in assurance.
"What? You didn't just mop the floor but also prepared a seafood feast for the entire crew in the middle of the night?"
"The boss is seriously overdoing it. Cleaning is exhausting enough as it is..."
"You must be tired by now. Let me take over the mopping, Miss Stussy! I'm great at it! They call me the 'Mopping Prince,'" someone chimed in, clearly trying to curry favor.
Sig looked at his subordinates, speechless.
They didn't even know the first thing about Stussy yet were already trying to impress her.
Stussy's age was a mystery. Outwardly, she looked just over twenty, but she might very well be someone from the same era as Yonko Charlotte Linlin.
"Ahem."
Sig cleared his throat lightly, instantly drawing the attention of all the flattering subordinates, who quickly changed their tone.
"The boss is truly wise and discerning, finding someone like Miss Stussy, who's so perfectly suited to be a cleaning lady."
"Stussy is practically born for this role! The boss's brilliance is unmatched!"
"Everyone has a destined path in life. Thanks to the boss, Stussy has finally found hers as a cleaning lady!"
Sig's gaze passed over the group, landing on Stussy. Their eyes met briefly before both quickly looked away, tacitly pretending nothing had happened the previous night.
At that moment, a young man with a slightly anxious expression walked toward the ship from the dock, looking around.
"Is Mr. Sig here? I'm from Isshin Dojo..."
Sig's heart skipped a beat, and he stepped forward.
He could vaguely recognize the young man as one of the disciples from Koshiro's dojo.
"What's the matter?" Sig asked in a deep voice.
He found it odd. Previously, he had only visited Isshin Dojo briefly and had little interaction with Koshiro or his people.
Now, for Koshiro to send someone to specifically find him was indeed strange.
"Master Koshiro's daughter, Kuina, fell from the attic last night while moving the grindstone... Master Koshiro is asking for you to come."
"What?" Sig's brows furrowed instantly.
He immediately gathered a few of his subordinates and followed the young man toward the dojo. However, halfway there, he stopped and asked in confusion:
"Wait, I'm not a doctor. In situations like this, Koshiro should look for Ivankov."
"Mr. Ivankov has already arrived. But actually, Kuina isn't seriously hurt—she just sprained her arm. Master Koshiro simply wants to thank you personally," the young man explained.
Sig was left speechless. This disciple of Koshiro really had a habit of only telling half the story...
He had been scared into thinking his warning hadn't managed to change Kuina's fate.
Sig wasn't particularly interested in Koshiro's gratitude, but he was curious to see the changes in Kuina's fate.
Since arriving in this world, Sig had seemingly interacted with key figures like Luffy and Zoro, but the effects of those interactions hadn't reached the level of altering destinies.
Luffy's dream hadn't changed into becoming the Mountain Bandit King, and Zoro wasn't going to become a Three-Chainsaw-Style swordsman.
However, Kuina's fate now appeared to be genuinely altered.
After some thought, Sig decided to continue toward Isshin Dojo. Along the way, though, he quietly called Baldy over and gave him instructions.
"Keep a close watch on Stussy. Make sure she doesn't come into contact with a Den Den Mushi or leave your sight."
Sig spoke solemnly.
