I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 664: The Evil God Beyond the Door

The blood-red mist spread through the ruins of Seoul. Even from this hill on the outskirts, the screams of the surviving citizens at the city's edge could be heard.

The commander who had captured Lee Uijin angrily grabbed his neck, lifting him close to his face, spitting as he yelled, "What the hell did you do?!"

He glared at Lee Uijin, their eyes locking. But in the end, the commander shivered and his grip on Lee Uijin's neck weakened.

Lee Uijin's gaze was too terrifying—insane, deranged, devoid of humanity. It was like looking into the eyes of a hopelessly insane person in a mental asylum, someone with a complete lack of ethics and morals.

This man could no longer be called human. Calling him an animal would be an insult to animals, as even they had emotions. This man had lost all feelings, holding only a mad belief in the evil gods.

His sanity was utterly depleted.

"Heh heh heh, hahahaha!! What did I do? You'll soon find out. Hahahaha, victory is mine, victory is mine. Everyone must die!!"

Lee Uijin laughed maniacally, baring his teeth. The commander instinctively stepped back. Lee Uijin's teeth were almost black and gray. The sharp shark-like teeth with sticky saliva between them were nauseating to look at, resembling movie monsters.

In the commander's moment of distraction, Lee Uijin suddenly bit down on his hand.

"Ah!!!"

The commander's scream was agonizing. Lee Uijin's bite had the force of a shark, severing two of the commander's fingers cleanly.

"Ah, ah, ah..."

The commander clutched his bleeding hand, stumbling back. Meanwhile, Lee Uijin struggled violently, the chains binding him creaking under the strain.

"Commander!!"

"Careful, don't let him escape!!"

"Increase the chains!!"

The soldiers quickly moved in. Medics tended to the commander, retrieving his severed fingers and bandaging his wounds.

More chains, forged from expensive, reinforced steel, were brought and used to bind Lee Uijin even tighter. After being wrapped several times, the madman finally quieted down.

"Hurry, we need to get the commander to a hospital to reattach his fingers."

The medics urged.

"But Seoul is in ruins. All the hospitals must have collapsed. There are also countless people needing aid inside the city!"

"Then head to the nearest base."

With the soldiers' help, the commander got into a vehicle. Before leaving, he handed over command to his deputy.

After a chaotic struggle to save the commander's hand, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Commander, look at Seoul!"

A soldier suddenly shouted. Everyone turned to see Seoul. Their eyes widened, and they gasped in horror.

Scarlet blood mist floated through the ruins of Seoul. It enveloped the entire city but didn't obstruct visibility, allowing a clear view of the events unfolding within the devastated city.

Under the blood mist, the concrete and steel rubble began to tremble. Stones were lifted, and pale arms emerged from the debris.

The people of Seoul who had died in the earthquake crawled out from the rubble. Dressed in tattered clothes, their stiff bodies and vacant eyes roamed the abandoned streets, attacking any living person they saw. It was like a zombie movie come to life.

But more terrifying than in the movies, these zombies moved as fast as normal people. When they caught a living person, they quickly devoured them, evolving rapidly to leap high and even climb walls.

These were not zombies but ghouls!

Meanwhile, the living heard mournful, ghostly wails that shook them to the core. In the blood mist, they could see ethereal shadows gathering at the city's center, becoming nourishment for something terrifying. Mysterious, evil, decayed symbols appeared, forming a bizarre door in the city!

Chaos, evil, corruption, decay, filth, and rot filled the hearts of the onlookers. Even without knowing what it was, they could guess it was something disastrous for humanity.

"Boom—"

The door suddenly opened. Under the terrified gaze of the people, Byakhees and Burrowers poured out, like swarming ants.

Seoul's population was about ten million. Despite modern technology's ability to mitigate such disasters, the earthquake resulted in roughly a million casualties, an unprecedented figure in modern times.

In the past, any supernatural events that appeared on Earth resulted in at most tens of thousands of casualties, essentially just a terrible natural disaster. However, now in Seoul, the casualties have reached a million, comparable to a large-scale war.

The sky was blotted out by Byakhees and the ground was covered in Burrowers. They didn't attack the survivors but guarded the door, kneeling in worship, emitting sharp, piercing cries as if praying.

Some people couldn't resist looking into the door's depths and saw a giant, grotesque shadow with a huge tentacle for a head, roaring silently from beyond the door, seemingly trying to widen it for its entrance.

"Ahhhhhh—"

Those who gazed too deeply into the evil god's form screamed, bleeding from their orifices, going mad, and speaking incomprehensibly, like Lee Uijin.

"Don't look at the evil god beyond the door!!"

The strong-willed barely maintained sanity, shouting warnings to others, bringing them back to reason.

This evil god's mere presence behind a door could drive people mad. If it truly descended, its mere existence could wipe out human civilization.

Everyone on the hill outside Seoul now understood Lee Uijin's purpose. This was a sacrificial ritual, a blood sacrifice of the entire city of Seoul!
