Chapter 19: Down Time
Jin sighed as he crossed his arms, the last few weeks were… interesting to say the least.
Wishing those people back went that big of an issue, but the revelation of Porunga being able to grant three wishes were quite nice and Bulma was so kindly able to tell him that Shenron can revive people at mass since Kami and Piccolo revived.
Also, they're the same people, who knew? Everyone but him apparently, as such only one wish was made, and besides Bulma asking to be younger for some god awful reason, it left Jin with the last wish his for the taking.
So what did he wish for? Until Dende told him of Prounga's restrictions he had to think it over even more, but it was easier; as Jin didn't want anything outside of Porunga's abilities anyways, but what Dende said when Jin spoke of his wish made everything click for him.
To quote the Namekian child 'Prounga cannot alter the state of a God'
That's just verification of his… unceremonious rise to Godhood.
But moving on, he never thought that he'd get such a thank you from the Z-Warriors. Apparently that's what they call themselves, Jin suggested Dragon Warriors, however they denied the suggestion.
Also, meeting Piccolo and Kami was an experience, not necessarily a bad one more… awkward, no doubt the Saiyan Invasion, which the normal humans are calling it has given Piccolo and Kami slight apprehensions around Jin.
Not like he could hold it against them, it wasn't like he was the one that killed all the people but he was also a Saiyan, but there's one thing he did salvage one thing from the brief meeting.
They were… alright, to Jin they felt… familiar as much as he was annoyed by the fact that the back of his head was tingling with just sheer familiarity from the sight, and hearing both of the namekians.
But he could see him getting along with Piccolo more than Kami as Kami felt like he's the old hermit that barely does anything, but the sheer existence that he brings is more beneficial than his actions.
But he can't really criticize him as he's not a warrior like Piccolo, speaking of Piccolo…
"So you're training with us?" Piccolo crossed his arms as he looked down at the Saiyan God.
"Yes, even if I'm considered much more powerful, I cannot get complacent" Jin crossed his arms.
"Sounds great! Can't wait to throw down with you!" A new voice, this time it was a higher pitch, looking back he was the familiar face and hair of Goku.
Goku… was a very familiar face to Jin, let alone his voice, it felt like he was meeting a hero for the first time, just something about the Saiyan made it seem, so damn familiar and it made him extremely annoyed!
But he couldn't deny that the familiarity wasn't from his mind only, something spiritual was feeling almost connected to Goku; something about Goku was extremely familiar to the mere sight of Goku. It was the same for his orange gi that Roshi gave him, Freiza, Vegeta, and even Slug gave him.
In all honesty he immediately pushed those feelings down as he was in the heat of the moment, to the point he didn't even acknowledge it at all.
"What of your son? Gohan?" Jin asked with crossed arms.
"Chi Chi wanted him to alternate, even after dying she still wants Gohan to keep up with his studies!" Goku started to stretch.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you two something" Jin asked as he uncrossed his arms.
"And that is?" Piccolo raised an eyebrow at Jin.
"How does your weighted clothing effect you at this power level? I mean… if you have a 100 kilogram weighted uh… cape" Jin pointed at Piccolo's clothing.
"It's a turban and a cape" Piccolo spoke which Jin nodded.
"How does it even effect you if your si strong that your body doesn't even acknowledge the weight?" Jin asked the two.
"Hehehe, that's simple! We just increase the weight!" Goku smiled as he jumped up and down.
"How?" Jin kept it simple.
"Humph, it's quite simple for me" Piccolo closed his eyes.
"Eh, I usually ask King Kai and Kami for weighted clothing and they just appear by magic!" Goku smiled.
Ah yes, King Kai; that was an experience, surprisingly he hasn't asked him why he knows Kaioken, which he's happy to keep secret. But Goku knowing how to swap the matter of a space with his own, effectively teleporting.
Cheating bastard…
He's clearly cheating! Just say that King Kai told you to go to that Yardat planet! Don't lie!
But ignoring that…
"So can I ask for weighted clothing?" Jin asked.
"Or you could learn to adjust the weight with Ki" Piccolo spoke.
He could, but damn was he lazy with Ki manipulation, and that's because it takes an annoying amount of time.
Shaking his head "alright, keep your secrets green man"
"I'm not a green man I'm a Namek- oh what the hell" Piccolo sighed.
"Let's begin" Jin smirked as he rolled his neck.
"Hifl yeah! I've been waiting for this!" Goku jumped up.
"Hifl?" Jin raised an eyebrow.
"Chi Chi doesn't want Goku to cuss especially around Gohan so.." Piccolo trailed off.
"…okay" Jin decided not to push any further.
"Anyways, are we ready?" Jin smiled.
"Yup! Can't wait to become that Super Saiyan that Vegeta became!" Goku nearly bounced with excitement.
"But first, we need to give Jin here some weight" Piccolo looked down at Jin.
"Hey guys, going in for some training?" A new voice came from a bald short man as he approached Goku followed by a man with a scarred face.
"Krillin! Yamcha! You two gonna join us for training?" Goku turned to them.
"Yup, can't be slacking at all" Another bald man came forth this time with three eyes and a smirk.
"Tien, you too?" Goku's smile widened.
"Oh yeah, you know you can't train without me" Tien smiled.
"Heh, this'll be fun, all of us training together; heh, if I didn't know better I'd say we've a threat to encounter" Krillin scratched the back of his head.
"Heh, alright! I'm pumped up hehe! Jin, Piccolo! You two ready?" Goku turned his head to see Jin now in Piccolo's clothing, staring at Goku.
"…yes" Jin decided to just say yes instead of describing the weight that is over his body.
"Alright, let's get started!" Goku dropped down to his stance as he smirked.
Jin sighed as he closed his eyes for a moment, he kinda wanted to do this under 100 times gravity for added benefit, but he can't really complain, fighting these people are still beneficial to him in the end.
Jin blinked as he realized something small, he's kinda surrounded by them, he's Goku in front of him, Krillin and Yamcha to his diagonal right, Tien to his diagonal left, and finally Piccolo to his back.
Was he worried that he was technically surrounded? No. He was worried about the techniques and abilities they might have, all in all; this was going to be fun.
Smiling Jin stared at Goku only "let's do this" Jin immediately had to duck underneath a kick from Piccolo, the only warning he had was the shadows moving.
A little sweat rolled down his forehead, Piccolo wasn't kidding about the weight, sure he's pretty strong, but the instant increase of weight would take getting used to, 1,000 kilograms wasn't a joke by any stretch of means, but granted, his power was that of a god and the measly weight of 1,000 kilograms shouldn't make hisn sweat.
That's because Piccolo's using a new technique he learned at King Kai's place, he explained it to him while the others arrived. Ki is technically the life force of the person, it's main focus point is at the center of the body and they can draw it out and manipulate it to their hearts content.
As such who's to say they can't make a technique to amplify the gravity around the person, as such Piccolo cracked the code to that. How? Jin would figure out in time; but on another note 20 times gravity and 1,000 kilograms would make Jin sweat a little sadly.
Jin stopped Goku's jab with a crossed block as Tien jumped over him and socked Piccolo in the jaw with a smile. Goku attempted another attack which Jin pulled away from and attempted a upwards kick only for Goku to jump over it and slam his foot into the chest of Jin forcing him to roll over his back to his feet and shoot right back to a descending Goku with widened eyes.
Jin's met Goku's gut as spittle flew out of Goku's mouth as Jin pulled away from a kick from Krillin who smirked and slammed his elbow over the head of Jin, who in turn slammed his fist into the face of Krillin who flew away away.
Piccolo steadied himself from the kick from Tien with a small smile, ever since their death, Tien has surprisingly kept even with Piccolo, and today, is the day they'll test themselves properly!
Piccolo grabbed the wrist of the same fist that slammed into Piccolo's jaw and tossed Tien to the ground and kicked Tien directly in the ribs which caused him to skid on the ground but before he could get up Piccolo attempted a stomp only for Tien to meet Piccolo's foot with his own and with a smirk pushed Piccolo away and got up to his feet.
Piccolo followed the momentum with a back flip and landed with a smirk, looking at Tien so smirked back; they both couldn't lie at this point of just feeling out each other powers, they were even.
Jin's meeting of Goku was awkward at first, hell that can be said about meeting everyone here. Ducking another punch and pulling away from a kick, Jin's thoughts concluded that while meeting Goku the only thing on his mind was the absolute sheer familiarity around the man.
But string that aside which was slightly difficult, the talent and prowess that Goku shed just from the movements that Jin saw, showed that Goku would meet Jin's power in just mere months. Goku's ability to recognize the shortcomings of his opponents was absolutely remarkable; but his habit of wanting a good fight holds that back.
Jin's fist slammed into Goku's jaw as Goku's foot slammed into Jin's nose drawing a drop of blood. Goku's ability to recognize that Jin wasn't at his best even under the weight and that his mind was distracted he was using his more complex moves to diorent Jin which was successful.
Jin couldn't ignore Goku's martial art prowess no matter how hard he tried, the hidden talent and his knowledge of martial arts allows Goku to hit above his reasonable weight class which Jin couldn't help but admit his appuse for the Saiyan.
If Goku was in the war…
Jin met Goku's fist with his own, he couldn't help but smile; the sheer joy in his body could be attributed to his Saiyan genes but he won't deny something in him was calling him out to just… shake his hand.
Jin's eyes widened as both he and Goku pulled away to make room for a flying Krillin which was chased down my Yamcha, these two…
Meeting them he couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed but a little hopeful, humans… were annoying. Not in a good sense either, maybe because the annoyance that Bulma gave him hindered his meeting of other human beings.
But he couldn't deny the absolute sheer hopefulness in their eyes when they were revived, he thought they'd just thank him and walk into the wasteland but instead, they wanted to train together, and as such.
This has been their routine for the past week, from fighting to weightlifting, and to the surpise of Jin he found the time he spent here getting to know these people for the past week.
Nothing but positivity.
Jin followed the momentum of Goku's kick to slam his foot into Goku's temple. Yamcha in his opinion was the weakest but also seemingly never gave up even if he didn't seemingly have the talent for fighting, but rather just had skill.
Krillin was the mix of both skill and talent that made him up, along with everyone else here. So why did Yamcha still trained? He couldn't reach the same height that everyone else here did and Jin did ask him on the third day of their training.
To quote Yamcha "I know, however, I will never be killed again without able to draw blood on my own - it doesn't matter who it is - I will never be helpless again in my life"
That opened Jin's eyes up to Yamcha's thought process along with others, Krillin, Tien, Piccolo, even Goku… they will never die so helplessly again. As such Jin couldn't help but just… respect them.
Sure he could recognize that they were weak, but that's only now.
What of a week from now? A month? A year?
Jin's smile widened as Goku shot a gut punch which landed true, sure, training with them all was fun, but the thought of them transforming or matching him gave him more excitement than he was comfortable admitting.
Blinking he pulled away from Goku who attempted a heel kick only to be met with a flying Tien slamming into Goku and falling down in a tangle of limbs.
Tien was… different, unlike the rest he just couldn't get a read on the guy, from what he knows he once matched Goku, and as such Jin couldn't help but have high hopes for the triclops. Either way, Jin needed this for him to get more powerful.
After all, how else would he get this powerful other than sparring constantly?
"Aaahhh! That was fun!" A now dirty and a little bloody Goku smiled as he devoured a burger.
"You're telling me, we gotta do more free for alls now and again" Krillin spoke as he tossed a meatball at Yamcha who caught it with his mouth.
"We've all gotten exponentially more powerful since we done this" Piccolo mused over his glass of water blinking twice "I can't help but notice that you haven't gotten that much powerful Jin"
"Hm? That's because I'm not going as hard as you guys" Jin spoke as I took a spoonful of some chicken broth.
"Is that so? And what if you could go all out?" Tien smirked.
"Well, it'd be interesting for me" Jin spoke.
"Heh, then you should go to Kami's lookout" Goku smirked.
"The hyperbolic time chamber? I already went in there with Master Roshi" Jin spoke as he looked at Goku.
Piccolo shook his head "no, not that, I think Goku's talking about the Pendulum Room"
"Pendulum Room?" This time it was Yamcha who spoke up nursing a bruised arm.
"A room that sends you back in time, however you cannot alter events in the past nor can you die in the room, all in all, you can get some amazing training in" Piccolo summed up.
Jin's mind went blank, going back in time? If he could go back to the war, the gains would be immense, but the likelihood of that is minimum. Jin shook his head as he sighed.
"That's amazing, but… there's gotta be a downside" Jin spoke.
"Doesn't stop mental damage" Piccolo smirked "so use at your own risk" Jin wasn't so much worried about that as he's plenty of mental damage from the war and spent literal thousands of years repairing his mental state in Other World.
So he's not worried, he's come to terms with his actions and situations he wen through in the past.
Sighing Jin spoke up "I'll see about this Pendulum room later, I should get back to Bulma's"
"Already?" Goku placed his hands behind his head.
"Yes already, I don't need Panchy whining, after all she wants to start sending me to school next year; and that'll suck" Jin spoke before he flew away getting waves and goodbyes from the crew.
Jin didn't know what to think about school, from what he's heard about the other people from his age it sounded torturous; however, when he did more info gathering he couldn't but help that school was more of a research facility, then he learned more that it was a requirement via law.
Which was stupid, he'd rather train, but Panchy has enforced a cerfew for him; he would reject it, but the daily ice cream is a great convincing argument and seemingly never fails her.
She's cheating he swears.
Rubbing his eyes he landed in front of Casple Corps and immediately headed to the gravity chamber that Mr. Brief made for him while he was at Namek, immediately turning up the gravity to 100 times with the weighted clothing that Piccolo made Jin finally had a challenge.
Jin really liked this gravity chamber that Mr. Brief made for him, but he couldn't ignore the fact that he's missing something in his life, it was the same feeling in his past life before the war.
And during the war he found what he was missing, milestones. Jin wanted high milestones to be attactched to his name, being the first to get to SSJ4 was a big achievement which sent him to elite status in Saiyan royalty.
But the war stopped everything and ended all of his achievements in the moment, especially with Yamoshi's rise to Godhood. Speaking of Yamoshi, he couldn't help but feel a little annoyance at the long dead god.
Doing simple one handed push-ups Jin's thoughts were on the violence of the War, from killing demon children to invading the demon's capital planet to Yamoshi's rampage on planets Sadala that led to his death. Jin was annoyed even thousands of years passed and he's still under by it.
And he's time to stew on why he couldn't move on, and no, he decided it wasn't the disrespect of his five punch death. But rather it was the fact that after his death he was simply forgotten, with Yamoshi being remembered as the 'Legendary Super Saiyan'
Legendary Super Saiyan his ass! He was the first one to perfect SSJ3 and unlock SSJ4! Why wasn't he remembered?! Why was he just forgotten?! Thrown to the wayside like a nobody?! Like his contribution to the war effort was meaningless! That is why Jin could never let his death go, and he'd rather die again then be forgotten.
"To~do~lo~ Jin! It's time to study!" Panchy's voice echoed out over the intercom, and at this moment Jin stopped doing crunches and turned off the gravity chamber and went for a shower, yes he was being timed on training, but at the end of the day he had no room to complain.
Free food? Free housing? And free training? He really was being spoiled here, but at the end of the day Jin liked it here, sure he'd soon have to go to school or whatever but in the end he feels like the one benefiting here.
A/N: slower chapters, as I've a job now but good money :)
