I Reincarnated as a Shinai

Sayel stepped forward and decided to use a completely different tactic to defeat this Dark Elf.

Since this person only uses sword techniques and doesn't seem to be adept in Arcane Magic, he would try to adjust and change his battle style instead.

"You might be skillful with your sword… But that's it… You wouldn't be able to defeat someone like me!"

Sayel shouted as he threw the sword that he formed using his energy to attack Reiji.

Boom!

It created a powerful impact and pushed back the Dark Elf…

The floor started cracking until his feet dug on the floor. It took that much defense to absorb the impact of that explosion. It was too strong. 

Sayel was confident seeing that the Dark Elf doesn't seem to be an adept Arcanist. Of course, he still recognizes that Reiji has a strong body to compensate for his lack of Arcane Magic.

Nevertheless, this would still make it a lot easier for him.

He formed multiple swords made of his spiritual energy and continued attacking Reiji!

"Sword of Light!"

The 10 swords formed above Sayel and pointed towards Reiji's direction!

"Try this!" 

Sayel shouted as he threw all these swords to Reiji!

Swish! Swish! Swish!

The Dark Elf was blasted but still managed to barely survive!

Nevertheless, Sayel seems to be capable of creating more of these swords of light as he continued until Reiji gave in!

The battle lasted for 15 more minutes as the Dark Elf's body started accumulating injuries until it could no longer hold on!

Thud!

Reiji finally collapsed on the floor as he held the wooden sword tightly even after his death.

"What an incredible resilience... He's probably the strongest opponent I've ever fought for the past 20 years…"

Sayel said as he looked at the mangled body of his opponent.

"He's the strongest? Does it mean that this Dark Elf is stronger than Zachary and Luke from the Royal Knights?" One of the Sun Fire Knights close to Sayel asked… His name is Hamish and he was together with the Knight Champion when he arrived at Islefield Fortress.

"That's correct. I can also guess that this person is not an Arcanist similar to me… It's my first time seeing someone who managed to get this strong without an Arcana… I thought no one could reach this level aside from me."

Sayel arrogantly said. 

Though he knows a 5-Star Hunter who was also not an Arcanist, this hunter is probably a tiny bit weaker than Reiji in terms of strength.

"Alright… I want to see the mysterious wooden sword. I've been trying to destroy it for a while now so I could easily kill this dark elf. However, it was just too tough. If this guy probably used a weaker sword, I can finish him in only ten minutes or so."

Diether who heard this volunteered to take the sword. After all, he's the one who's more interested in this Shinai.

Unfortunately, before he managed to get close to the Shinai, it actually glowed with white radiance and floated about 5 feet from the floor.

It emanated with incredible power… This stunned Diether and the rest but not enough for Sayel to be immobilized. The Knight Champion wanted to seize the sword as he wrapped himself with his Spiritual Energy and rushed toward the source of light.

"Hmph! That's enough!" Sayel shouted and as soon as he got gotten closer to the shinai, it actually flew away as it created a streak of light in the sky.

The battleground finally became silent as there was no longer any opponent for Sayel to take on.

"Everyone, their leader has been defeated. Let's assist the troops dealing with the dark elf warriors and evil beasts outside." Sayel immediately said after confirming that there are no longer any opponents around. 

He can only accept that the powerful sword managed to escape. Though he's unmatched in combat, he's not omnipotent after all. He thought that the sword was about to activate self-destruction magic or any Arcane Magic that could harm them. 

He thought it's a good idea to set up a powerful defense but it actually backfired as the sword flew away and he was unable to react in time. When he realized what happened, it was too late and the sword was already gone.

The Knights, on the other hand, celebrated as soon as the result was out. 

They immediately attacked the remaining Dark Elves and Evil Beasts within the Isengard Fortress as they headed to the battlefield outside.

After about half an hour, the situation has finally settled down as the Kingdom's flag was raised atop the fortress.

There were only 84 casualties in this battle. Ten of them were from the Sun Fire Knights while the others are from the soldiers of the Northern Army…

In the end, the recapture of the fortress was a huge success…

They immediately called for the Arcanists to create a powerful Defense Array to ensure that they would establish a powerful defense again in case they were attacked by the Dark Elves at night.

The remaining abled soldiers and skilled workers repaired the fortress as quickly as possible. The walls have been fixed, the gates were temporarily patched, and they opened the trade route immediately to have food supplies and other needs be transported fast.

Of course, while this is all happening, Stella, Diether, and Rufus started investigating and shared their ideas during their discussion.

Apparently, before the Shinai disappeared, the three of them sensed their connection with Reiji had briefly returned. However, because it quickly flew away, they didn't manage to confirm or even use their Sense Link to speak with their master again. 

"Ugh… I guess we have to just wait for our master again?" Rufus asked. 

They were currently inside a training room within the Isengard Fortress. 

"Haa~ But it must be a sign, right?"

Stella hesitated since she doesn't know what to do anymore. In the first place, they were unsure whether they really have to look for their master. 

Without good direction, people lose their way.

Diether understands this so he kept quiet as well.

However, Lyrei suddenly interrupted their conversation as she reported something.

"Hey, I found a couple of Half-Imps and they seem to be looking for Reiji as well…"
