Chapter 316: Shots
Stella immediately used her Arcane Sensitivity as soon as she heard Lyrei's warning.
"Two Arcanists and four Knights… They're probably the Count's people." Stella muttered after confirming their familiar Spiritual Energy and Arcana.
"Ugh… They're persistent. I already have mother warn them." Aria can only shake her head after realizing that they didn't listen after all.
"Well, once we're outside the town, they probably thought that they can already do anything to us…" Yasmin added not feeling worried about their situation.
They have already expected this to happen and as a matter of fact, the number of people following seems to be lacking compared to what they thought.
Perhaps they are being underestimated because they are all females. There aren't many female Hunters or Warriors after all.
"So… Are we going to lead them a bit farther?" Yasmin calmly asked.
"Well, they showed their traces a bit too early but everything should be fine. Lyrei, there should be a large forest not too far from here. Lead them there." Stella instructed. She has already studied the topography of this region to identify places where bandits could be hiding.
Because of this, she's fully aware of some spots where they could deal with these people.
"Got it! It might get a bit bumpy so hold on there." Lyrei shouted as she urged the horses to run faster.
She didn't have to whip them at all as she could somehow communicate with them just with a touch or even a whisper.
The people following them noticed the change in their pace so they similarly hurried their horses.
"Follow them!"
"Don't lose sight of their carriage. Hurry!"
"Hyaah!"
Their group was all trained horseback riders so they wouldn't normally worry about being unable to catch up with their target. Their only concern is that if they managed to leave this region, it would be difficult for them to act against their group.
"Stop!"
It didn't take long before they noticed the carriage on the side of the road. They seem to have stopped near the jungle area.
Beyond this place would be a territory of another count so they have to quickly deal with them.
"It was only about 40 minutes since they left, they're already resting?"
"I think this is a trap."
"Most likely. We have to slowly approach them."
"Hmm… But someone may just want to relieve themselves."
They have various thoughts about the group's sudden stop. Anyway, they can't leave the fact that this is a good chance for them to deal with Stella and the others.
"Hmph! Whatever it is, let's just drag them out. We only need one of them alive." One of the Arcanists finally said as he thought of various scenarios that could happen.
"Alright… We'll head on first." The leader of the Knights answered as he lead his group.
The four Knights moved in front while the two Arcanists remained on their backs.
No other carriages or travelers are using the road at this time so they were quite lucky.
Clink! Clink!
One of the Knights suddenly heard the sound of swords being drawn out. They have yet to draw out their sword so it can only be their enemies inside the carriage.
They immediately draw their sword as a response.
As soon as they did this, they saw a flash of light within the forest and noticed something that was thrown at them.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Three throwing knives targeted their leader. However, even though it was imbued with Spiritual Energy, it wasn't strong enough to damage the Knight's magic sword.
Then, they saw a young lady with black hair and brown eyes appear in front of their group!
"You?!"
"She's one of that girl's companions!"
"Kill her!"
The leader shouted as they swing their swords with full strength!
Nevertheless, the girl remained calm even while in their midst as she blocked their strike with ease!
Bam!
Their brief clash created an impact.
However, the young lady remained powerful even while fighting four knights at the same time!
"You are all an embarrassment! Move aside!"
The two Arcanists decided to take part. They are previously worried about the other passengers since they know that Stella and Aria have also boarded the carriage. They do not want to be caught in surprise by an ambush from them.
However, seeing that they haven't taken action even after a while, they must be thinking that this little girl can handle all of them at once!
It is such an insult to them and his guess only became firm after noticing that the Knights were truly unable to kill the girl even after a while. These guys were even being pressured!
She's just too strong!
"Senior Ares, that girl must be an Arcanist as well. There's no way she could fight against four trained Knights at the same time!"
"I understand. Make sure that no one can interrupt me…" Ares nodded at his junior as he already thought this much.
The two Arcanists then completed their plans as they started targeting Yasmin using their Arcane Magic!
Paralysis Bolt!
Fire Arrow!
The two Arcane Abilities of his Unique Orb Arcana are both targeted skills. Even if the lady tried dodging, the Arcane Magic would just follow her!
He already felt celebrating as soon as he managed to release the spell without any disturbance.
Bang!
But he suddenly heard a deafening sound followed by the Knights' shouts as they backed away with terror in their faces.
'What's going on?'
Ares immediately glanced in the direction they are looking and noticed the young lady holding a pistol!
The sound he just heard is definitely the firing shot!
He soon felt the pain in his chest as he finally realized what had just happened!
'This… I'm dead…' Ares thought as he didn't set up a barrier for himself when he cast that Arcane Magic.
His junior was also not expecting the shot as he was actually observing the carriage and the surroundings in case the others decided to save this young lass. Unfortunately, he was wrong and he was already too late to realize his mistake!
"Senior! Hurry, the recovery potion!"
The man shouted but before he could help, they heard another shot being fired! That young lass is not finished! She continued firing as they started collapsing one by one!
This pistol is too powerful against someone who's unprepared!
