I Ran Away And The Reverse Harem Started

Chapter 48

Chapter 48 The next day, I packed up a letter to send to Lynne and went out. My bushy hair was tied up in a high bun and I wore the navy blue dress I’d brought instead of my maid’s outfit. “Sorry, Rosieta. Mika overslept. I’ll wake her up in a minute and get her things.” “No, take your time, Angie!” Since Mika was up late, I decided to wander around the mansion until she was ready. I passed a small garden neatly planted with pink tulips and turned to the back of the mansion. Behind the mansion, there was a path leading to a small forest and a terrace used by the three masters of the house. While contemplating whether to take a walk in the small forest, I inadvertently looked up. And then I found a familiar figure standing on the terrace. I quickly looked around. Fortunately, the surrounding area was quiet and there was no sign of someone here. At least no one will see me. I held back the laughter that was about to escape and carefully climbed the white stairs connected to the terrace. Slowly, like a stray cat, with my heels lifted to avoid hearing the sound of my shoes. Fortunately, the man standing with his back to me on the terrace didn’t seem to notice me. ‘Well, how awesome would it be to be out on the terrace looking at documents on this sunny day?’ Having reached the top of the stairs, I crouched low, looked him in the eye, raised my hands, and sneaked up on him. I shook my shoulders, hoping to startle him. ‘Then you’ll go down with a ridiculous scream, right?’ I smiled sinisterly. I’m about to scream when he grabs me by the shoulders, “Daniel Leand… Akhh!” My hand, which I had just reached out to Daniel, was grabbed by a hand that came out of nowhere. The hand yanked me viciously, and my nose slammed into Daniel’s back as I was yanked away. “Ouch! My nose!” “Idiot.” “Let go of this!” Without looking back, Daniel grabbed both of my hands and put them in front of his waist. In other words, I had my face buried in Daniel’s back, and my hands were wrapped around his waist, holding him forward. It was kind of like a back hug, but my nose tingled first. My cheeks were pressed down, and I could hear Daniel’s laughter echoing off his back. “I can see everything through the glass, why are you sneaking up on me and trying to surprise me?” I thought you would definitely focus on documents! I tried my best to remove the hand that was being held by him. Daniel held my arm tightly and made fun of me as if it was ridiculous, then let go. Only then was I able to soothe my numb nose. All I can see is the bridge of my nose.I touched it carefully, but fortunately the bridge of my nose was still intact. “I thought my nose was going to break!” Whether or not I whined that I was in pain, Daniel shuffled his papers noisily onto the table on the terrace. Then he stares at me, eating his lunch alone, like he’s wondering why I played a prank on him. Wow, I feel angry. I did not give up and raised my voice. “Why are you pulling so hard? What if my nose gets crushed? Are you saying that because you have a lot of money, you will also compensate for my nose? uh?” But Daniel Leandro did not budge. “Well, that’s a matter of justice. You were the one who attacked me first. On the topic of trying to hit an unwary person. I was just protecting myself.” “What? I was just joking…” “I was joking too.” Daniel smirked and pulled up a chair in front of the table and sat down. The way he crossed his long legs and looked at me was too much. “Sit down.” He pulled out another chair in front of me and offered it to me. I craned my neck across the terrace, double checked that no one was there, and sat down on a chair. Then he spoke quickly. “If anyone catches me with you, tell them I was having a business consultation. you know, asking how you’re settling in at work.” “How long are you going to care about the others’ eyes?” “Until I leave this mansion.” Then Daniel looked at me with a very disapproving look and asked. “Should I just cut them all off? No one will notice you.” And he speaks in a tone that conveys a lot of sincerity… I was taken aback for a moment when I saw his leisurely behavior, but then I realized what he meant and got angry. “You devil, that means I’m going to have to take care of this mansion alone!” “You’re quick-witted.” Daniel chuckled, covering his mouth to hide what was so funny. I glared at him with a crack in my brow, then relaxed my expression. The atmosphere and scenery were too peaceful for me to be angry with him. A wind blew from the forest and the documents fluttered over. Above Daniel’s smiling face, shiny black hair brushed his forehead. The pitch-black eyes revealed beneath them sparkled with a soft light in the early summer sunlight. ‘Hmph, this devil, but since the weather is nice so I’ll forgive him…’ Daniel’s face, relaxed, looked so much like the orphanage boy I knew. That’s why I couldn’t stop staring at it. Ah, is this what Mika said? An incredibly beautiful man who, no matter how angry she is, is eventually forgiven. Even though I grimaced in displeasure at the joke about cutting off all the maids and leaving the work to only me, my displeasure disappears when I see his smiling face. And the fact that I was so angry at Daniel’s face was astounding. “… Anyway, you really are the devil.” Either I look at myself or not. Daniel, who was giggling a lot, put his elbows on the table and rested his chin. Then, after looking at me slowly, he asked: “Are you going out?” I realized that I was dressed to go out. “Oh, yes. I decided to go out to the square with the new friends I made.” “Friends?” “The maid friends. I made a new friend while living in the dorm.” I briefly summarized how I took care of Marie, who was a new maid, and how I became friends with Mika and Angie. Of course, I excluded the story about Miriam bullying them. I didn’t want to tell Daniel, who was busy at work, about what had happened between the maids. Besides, I hadn’t volunteered to be a maid, and I didn’t want to make him think I was whining about Miriam. ‘… When we start talking about Miriam, I think we should also talk about my sleepwalking. Then I have to tell everything I want to hide.’ So I chose my words appropriately. Daniel looked interested after hearing about my new friend. “That’s great. I thought you’d have a hard time adjusting to your personality.” He didn’t think I would fit in. I sat in silence, not sure if it was a compliment or not. Daniel’s gaze drifted to my dress. It fell below my knees. The thin layer of clouds in the sky had parted, and sunlight poured through the tall trees. I squinted for a moment, but Daniel gently grabbed my wrist. “It’s hot in the middle of the day now.” He took my wrist and began folding the long sleeves that ended at the top of my hand. “Why the sleeves?” “Shorter ones will keep you cooler, and you’ll be hot if you’re out in the square all day without a hat.” With that, Daniel dutifully folded the sleeves of my dress. Straight, not wrinkled. Suddenly, I feel like a daughter being taken care of by her parents. Daniel’s rough fingers touched the delicate skin on the inside of my wrist. His fingers were calloused here and there from holding a quill pen all day, or maybe from doing odd jobs since he was a child.I was mesmerized by his fingers and retorted, “Oops.” “Hey, I have a hat.” “Really?” “What, you think a girl like me doesn’t have a hat? It’s at Lynne’s house. All my clothes, everything. I just didn’t pack them because I had to come here all of a sudden.” I deliberately raised my head and spoke. Daniel just chuckled after hearing my answer. “Then I guess you’ll just add it to the letter you’re writing to your family. It’s getting hot now, so please send me a hat.” “That’s right. It will happen even if you don’t say it. Of course, Uncle Hans can send it to me even if I don’t tell him. They think of me like their own daughter.” “Why not just buy one at the square?” I narrowed my eyes as I looked at Daniel, who seemed particularly calm and kind today. “Do you want to hear the word “penniless” come out of my mouth, knowing full well how much I owe you?” When I sulked, Daniel raised his eyebrows, wondering what was so funny, and took the other wrist. Even though I obediently gave my wrist away, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of shame. “Or maybe you just want to hear me tell you to buy me a hat.” “Hey, that’s enough. Why would I get you a hat?” “I kind of knew you’d say that.” I tried my best to explain that I didn’t want anything from Daniel. But he didn’t listen, and he folded up the sleeve of my other dress. Before I knew it, the sleeve was folded all the way down to my elbow. Sure enough, the breeze felt cool against my skin. “Just in case, please don’t buy me clothes or hats, okay?” When I crossed my arms and made a threat, Daniel stared at me as if he was dumbfounded. “Just like the last time the saint gave you flowers, what do you believe and what makes you think that I will bring you a gift?” “There is such a thing.” Yes, I know because I read the book. This is how Daniel spends money on Deborah in the original story. He spends it like it’s the only thing he has! Even when he denied his feelings for Deborah, he tried to win her over by throwing money at her. Moreover, even though Daniel was saving money elsewhere, he always seemed to be giving it away to Lucas and Colin. ‘It’s probably because he’s a somewhat weak-hearted character.’ He was particularly soft on his friends who were from the same orphanage. Now I know. Daniel is actually quite a sweetheart, unlike the character in the book. ‘But I don’t want to receive gifts from this guy.’ Since I’m the one leaving here anyway, I don’t want to burden my heart by receiving something more. So I shrugged my shoulders. “I’m just telling you, just in case, and I don’t want to owe you.” “Debt.” At the mention of debt, Daniel’s face suddenly returned to its usual sternness. A faint tinge of annoyance settled on his cheeks. Daniel stroked his hair a few times, then waved his hand. It means go quickly, a look of fatigue appeared on the guy’s face. “It seems like a lot of time has passed, so just go, you said you were going out to the square.” “I was going to go without you telling me, I’m a busy person too.” I shrugged and stood up, heading down the stairs that led to the terrace, when I glanced back at the door. Daniel was still sitting there, watching me. ‘Why are you staring at me like that?’ A ray of sunlight fell on his head and fresh green leaves rustled around him. Sitting there in his navy blue suit, Daniel looked like a painting someone had painstakingly created. And his gaze was fixed on… Looking closely, it seemed like Daniel was looking at the hem of my skirt, not me. A slight heat rushed to my cheeks. I hurried down the stairs, worried about the hem of my skirt, which I had sewn back on again and again. I held the hem of my skirt tightly so it wouldn’t flutter.
