Chapter 4
However, despite this amazing spectacle, no one could not only admire, but even make a sound.
“Ha.”
The pharaoh exhaled, as if breaking this silence, but the tension didn’t ease. From this, everyone felt as if the temperature had dropped by about ten degrees.
When people, shivering either from fear or cold, looked at him, the pharaoh smiled, curving his lips in a smooth arc.
Splat!
And he just looked.
The body of the intruder who was close, trying to move him, exploded.
He turned into a pool of blood so quickly that he didn’t even have time to utter a dying cry.
Zhi-wu realized that he hadn’t been breathing since the pharaoh’s appearance when he felt his breathing quicken. The pharaoh’s presence was so shocking.
‘Was he this strong?’
Although he knew from stories how strong he was, seeing it with his own eyes for the first time, he couldn’t help but be amazed.
This was power beyond imagination.
‘Why… weren’t they on the same side?’
Zhi-wu wondered, looking at the intruders dying one after another each time the pharaoh’s gaze fell on them.
After all, there wasn’t a drop of mercy in their bullets to suggest that they were trying to steal the pharaoh with the same purpose as Zhi-wu.
Due to the continuing incomprehensible situations, Zhi-wu felt like his head was about to boil. At the moment when he felt dizzy, the pharaoh finally approached the black knight and Zhi-wu.
The arrogant gaze was first directed at the black knight, and then at Zhi-wu whom he held in his arms.
“Hh…!”
As soon as Zhi-wu felt this gaze on himself, fear overtook him, and he inhaled convulsively. The black knight, as if protecting him, shrank even more, hiding Zhi-wu with his body.
Surprisingly, Zhi-wu didn’t die despite being looked at.
Thinking that perhaps the black knight had done something, Zhi-wu looked at him, but couldn’t understand the expression on his face, completely hidden by the helmet.
“Hm.”
Interest appeared in the pharaoh’s eyes. His gaze, directed at the black knight who had turned his back to him, again turned to Zhi-wu. This was a completely different look than before.
However, it didn’t last long. It seemed he realized that Zhi-wu, whom he was looking at with interest, wasn’t of particular value, and the interest in his eyes faded.
Zhi-wu, feeling danger but suppressed by the pharaoh’s aura, could only stare at him dumbly.
At this moment, the black knight reached out and grabbed the approaching hand of the pharaoh, stopping it.
The pharaoh seemed surprised by this too, as his indifferent eyes flashed for a moment. However, this wasn’t a good sign.
“Worthless creature…”
The pharaoh seemed to be angry, as his face contorted. He seemed to be thinking: “How dare you stop me?”
Simultaneously, Zhi-wu felt that the pharaoh’s aura pressing on him disappeared. Breathing became easier, but conversely, the black knight shuddered.
Zhi-wu felt the black knight’s body tremble as if the pharaoh had focused his energy on him.
Looking at this, the pharaoh’s lips curved. Although there was a smirk on his lips, his bright eyes looked at the black knight without a trace of a smile.
The black knight’s body shuddered several times from what the pharaoh was doing. However, he still held Zhi-wu in his arms.
It’s unknown what the pharaoh was doing, but when the black knight endured it, the anger on his face subsided. And instead, surprise and curiosity appeared.
In his eyes directed at Zhi-wu, there was curiosity: “What is this that he endures my power for his sake?”
“No matter how you look at it, he doesn’t seem different from those.”
Zhi-wu understood that by “those” the pharaoh meant the intruders who had turned into bloody slush.
“Why is this worthless creature protecting you?”
And when he moved his finger, Zhi-wu was able to free himself from the black knight’s embrace. The black knight’s arms forcibly unclenched, and he, rising into the air, flew far away and crashed into the wall. All the showcases and artifacts in the museum were crumpled under the black knight’s body, making a loud noise.
“…Ugh!”
Zhi-wu looked at him, and then winced from the pain in his arm. The blood that had barely stopped flowing gushed again when the pharaoh grabbed the arm grazed by the bullet.
“Too ordinary to be enchanted by his beauty.”
When the pharaoh’s palm was wet with Zhi-wu’s blood, he finally let go of his arm and began to assess his face.
He carefully examined Zhi-wu’s body, as if trying to understand why the black knight had shown sympathy for him, as he himself had said. Zhi-wu felt humiliated, as if he were not a person but a commodity, under this gaze. There wasn’t a drop of sympathy in it.
‘Son of a bitch…’
Since the pharaoh was no longer emitting an aura like before, when Zhi-wu’s head started to heat up, the fear disappeared.
The pharaoh grinned when anger directed at him appeared on Zhi-wu’s face, freed from fear. He found it amusing that Zhi-wu was showing his teeth, not knowing his place, despite the fact that he had just killed all his fellow humans before his eyes.
When he reached out to touch Zhi-wu’s face, the returned black knight pushed away the pharaoh’s hand and again protectively embraced Zhi-wu.
“How dare you.”
The pharaoh seemed displeased that he was interfered with, and was about to deal with the black knight when…
“Die!”
Zhi-wu, suddenly jumping out of the black knight’s embrace, splashed something on the pharaoh. The pharaoh could have dodged, but since even the strongest poison in the world could hardly kill him, he simply allowed it to hit him.
“Tch.”
He clicked his tongue at the unpleasant smell irritating his nose, and at that moment a small spark flew out of Zhi-wu’s hand.
Whoosh!
The spark, so small that it would be hard to even get burned by it, instantly increased upon contact with the liquid. Although more than half of the upper body was engulfed in flames, the pharaoh didn’t even blink.
On the contrary, he easily brushed off the fire from his body with his palm, as if shaking off dust, and the flame instantly went out.
“Ha… haha…!”
How can he be killed? Zhi-wu laughed from surprise and bewilderment.
Despite the fact that the pharaoh was momentarily engulfed in fire, not a single trace of soot remained on his body.
‘Indeed, I shouldn’t have been the one to come.’
Realizing that he could do nothing with his abilities, Zhi-wu wanted to lose consciousness. He was ready to die hundreds and thousands of times if he could destroy him, but…
“Are you done with your attempts?”
The pharaoh’s face became bored again. The black knight, sensing danger, tried to stop him, but the pharaoh’s gesture was faster.
Black ropes grown from his shadow stuck to the black knight’s limbs and lifted him into the air. Ignoring the black knight, whose arms and legs were tightly bound and fixed in the air, the pharaoh grabbed Zhi-wu by the collar and lifted him.
“The attempt was good, but it didn’t work because it’s me.”
“…”
“My abilities are too great to die at the hands of a worthless creature.”
Zhi-wu looked at the pharaoh, who was chuckling mockingly, with a deadly gaze. This seemed to please the pharaoh, and his laughter only grew stronger.
He liked it more when Zhi-wu looked at him so fiercely than when he helplessly trembled, hiding in the black knight’s embrace.
Usually, he should have met death the moment he showed his teeth, but the pharaoh felt it was a pity to just kill him. He wanted to play with him a little more.
“Don’t you want to live?”
When the pharaoh quietly whispered this, an incomprehensible light flickered in Zhi-wu’s eyes full of hatred, and the pharaoh mentally smirked. He decided that it was hope.
He thought that Zhi-wu wouldn’t give in easily, considering his enormous hatred for him, despite the fact that they had met for the first time, but now he became curious if he had been mistaken in his assumption.
‘If he asks to save his life, I’ll kill him.’
Thinking to himself that there was no need to spare such a pathetic worthless creature, he outwardly smiled kindly and tempted:
“If you beg for mercy, I will spare your life.”
“…”
“Although you’re worthless, you entertained me for a while, so I’ll give you the honor of serving me.”
He said this, offering him to fall at his feet, kiss them and beg for mercy, but in response he received not sycophancy.
“Ptui!”
“…”
“Just kill me, bastard.”
He still looked at him with eyes burning with hatred.
“Ha…”
The pharaoh was truly pleased. Unlike before, he laughed sincerely.
How to torture him so that the hatred on his face would be replaced by regret?
‘I hope he doesn’t break too quickly.’
Hoping that he would hold out until he was satisfied, the pharaoh was about to act when his face, full of pleasure, changed to bewilderment.
He tilted his head in confusion, and his expression gradually became serious.
“You…”
“…”
“What have you done to me?”
Zhi-wu’s face also expressed bewilderment at the pharaoh’s unexpected words. Judging by everything, he wasn’t asking about being spat in the face…
Although he didn’t understand what was going on, seeing how the pharaoh’s calm and arrogant face was filling with concern, it was clear that for the pharaoh this wasn’t good news.
Even if he knew what it was, he wasn’t going to say.
‘I don’t know what you’re talking about, but keep suffering until you die.’
Zhi-wu silently looked at the pharaoh mockingly. It was visible how he tightly clenched his teeth, as if it angered him.
“You…”
When the pharaoh was about to growl again, Zhi-wu felt his head spinning.
‘Ah…’
Maybe he had lost too much blood? Although he was already lifted into the air by the collar, he had a feeling that the ground was slipping away from under his feet. Feeling his vision gradually darkening, Zhi-wu lost consciousness.
