Chapter 94
“Unfold, Enoch.”
Then, light began to shine from a book covered in dust, and a book that had been impossible to open was now able to be opened. In order to use this effectively, I first needed to protect others.
“Lorcha, please protect the nobles. They’re all weak and fragile from being overweight, so do it as quickly as possible.”
“Sigh… Fine.”
Lorcha walked to the center of the kneeling nobles and clasped her hands.
“Water spirits, separate this place from the mortal realm.”
A huge dome-like water barrier trapped Lorcha and the nobles inside. While this could be seen as a protective shield, it meant that Iris would need to protect the Crown Prince, and Lorcha wouldn’t be able to do anything else while maintaining that magic. So, it was up to me to deal with those Black Round Table bastards. With the magic book, Enoch.
The magic book, Enoch, was a holy artifact that Werner had used in ” Dragnity Fantasy 1.” Its effect was simple.
“Page 65, open the Chapter of Darkness.”
The book began to flutter open, and a page emitting black energy appeared. At the same time, the henchmen of the Black Round Table began rushing toward my direction.
“O arrow of dawn, overturn the earth and feast!”
Then, black circles appeared on the ceiling, and black arrows were shot out. The arrows that struck Lorcha’s water barrier vanished as if the ink were melting, but the arrows that embedded themselves in the bodies of the Black Round Table henchmen didn’t disappear.
The arrows melted like ink, coating their bodies, and began to gnaw at the henchmen’s flesh like piranhas. No matter how hard they struggled to remove them, the arrows didn’t budge. The arrows had deeply rooted themselves, and there was nothing they could do about it.
‘Devouring Dawn Arrow.’
It was a deadly magic that Werner had created, his first great spell. This spell, designed to target only living creatures, gnaws at their bones and flesh. While its power was lacking compared to other great magic, and could be blocked by magic, it was still a powerful creation for his first major spell.
“Werner, you… Great magic…”
Wait, is this kid announcing that I can’t use great magic? How could you say something like that in front of so many people?
“Shh, I made this great magic, so it would be strange if I couldn’t use it, right?”
The effect of Enoch was to shorten the incantations of magic and save mana used for casting. The drawback was that the magic would disappear after being used once, meaning it would need to be engraved again, making it a one-time-use artifact. Nevertheless, Werner had stored various dangerous spells, including other great magics, inside it. In addition, many dangerous beings were sealed within.
Sure, engraving the magic requires mana, and the incantations need to be memorized, but the major advantage was being able to use it on the battlefield right away after preparing it. Skipping the lengthy incantations of great magic made it extremely mana-efficient.
In other words, it was an artifact that required an upfront cost and granted its effects later.
“Next, which magic should I use to deal with you? Light? Lightning? Earth? Ice? Whatever you want, I’ll send you to the afterlife.”
Although I had to be cautious about using the spells in here since they were one-time-use, honestly, even though they were great magic, many of them were inefficient because Werner had created them when he was younger. Some were less powerful than the general magic he developed later.
So, this was a bluff. A bluff that I could wipe out these fools anytime.
Maybe they bought into my bluff, as they started to show noticeable signs of hesitation. They gave up trying to strike me and instead tried to get into the water barrier at any cost. They didn’t even realize how foolish their actions were.
“I recommend you don’t touch that.”
Despite her warning, they jumped into the water barrier, and their bodies were shredded by the immense water pressure. Wow, later, should I have a hamburger steak for dinner? Seeing all that finely ground meat made me crave a hamburger steak.
“Water magic attacks are sloppy… There’s no decisive blow… If you attack, the range is too large, and it consumes too much mana… You can never use it for defense… That’s what all the idiots have said.”
Lorcha was a master of water magic, the head of the Water Magic Tower. She wasn’t someone using clumsy water magic like an amateur. Water magic wasn’t just about tsunamis or floods as attacks.
“This dome, rotating the water under high pressure, is the true magic of water! This is what the old wizard community need to see!”
It seemed like a lot had built up over time. The long years of humiliation and oppression that water magic had suffered. Now, it was time for Lorcha to throw all that off and return as an Aqua Master.
“If you think you can break through my defense, then come at me. Though you’ll be shredded like ground meat.”
I, Werner, the strongest spear with Enoch in hand.
And Lorcha, the strongest shield.
With the strongest spear and shield, what is there to fear? The nobles are protected by Lorcha, and Iris is protecting the Crown Prince. The only thing to worry about is… wait, there’s a traitor among the nobles…
“Lorcha! Be careful, there’s a traitor among the nobles…!”
At that, some of the noble bastards stood up. Ugh, judging by their nasty faces, they’ve only changed their clothes. They pulled out daggers from their cloaks and charged at Lorcha. Damn it, I can’t run in and help, and there’s no way Lorcha can handle those bastards…
“Water, become a bullet.”
At that, something transparent shot from Lorcha’s fingertips and pierced one of the bastards’ heads.
“Did you think my attacks would be weak? Too bad. When I shoot high-pressure water streams, they’re fast, and there’s no problem piercing through a human head. You don’t need fancy techniques to kill someone.”
I completely agreed with that. You don’t need a huge steel greatsword to kill someone, a bullet-sized piece of lead is enough. What matters is how you handle it.
“… It doesn’t matter! If we strike from multiple directions, we can’t all die!”
“To attack a lady, how barbaric. I’ll punish you.”
Those barbaric Black Round Table bastards charged at Lorcha with knives. There’s no way she could rapidly fire a spell like before, so how the hell is she going to handle this…
“Water, become a sword to punish the wicked.”
Lorcha said, and then flicked her fingers. At that, the bodies of those barbaric Black Round Table bastards were split in half. What is this? Instant death cheat? The cut surface was far too clean for it to be a regular sword cut. Could this be…
“When I swing high-pressure water like before, it transforms into a pretty useful sword. It can even cut through steel, you know?”
Damn, it’s a water pressure cutter. It can even cut diamonds, so it would slice through a human body as easily as cutting tofu. I’ll need to be careful around Lorcha’s fingers from now on. Using such high-level water magic in places without water… I’ll need to make sure Lorcha doesn’t turn into a vile person and start researching necromancy to resurrect bodies(He is talking about the Second Hokage LoL).
But then, a problem arose. I had been focusing on Lorcha, and I allowed one of the Black Round Table bastards to get too close. It was too close to use magic now. However, there was no need to worry too much. This magic book, Enoch, was an artifact that could be used in such situations.
“This blasphemous one!!!”
I immediately slammed Enoch down onto the bastard’s head. Whether I hit the crown of his head or not, he collapsed, spraying blood from his nose and mouth. Do you know why the magic book is a weapon? Because it can kill people when struck with it.
And this Enoch… it’s pretty sturdy and light, so it’s easy to swing. Especially when you strike a vital point with the edge, it’s no trouble to send a person to the afterlife to meet the King of Hell.
“Now, where is the next blasphemous one?”
Those who are unfaithful will be punished by me, the 14th disciple of Jesus, Werner. This magic book, Enoch, is my holy book, proof that God is with me.
“Page 121, open the Chapter of Freezing.”
Then, Enoch itself turned the page. A frosted page appeared. This might actually be useful. I thanked it for shortening a chant of over 20 lines into a single phrase, and I cast the spell while staring directly at those Black Round Table trash.
“Spirits of Ice, bring the time of bitter cold to all that I see.”
At that, everything reflected in my eyes began to freeze. Not just the Black Round Table bastards, but also the walls and the floor.
‘Winter in the Eye.’
One of the great spells developed by Werner, its range was the entire area visible to the caster. It combined light magic, which overlays mana onto what the pupil sees, and ice magic, which freezes everything the mana touches.
Thanks to this, I could freeze dozens of people at once into chicken nuggets, but something still felt off. If these were the Black Round Table bastards, there was definitely going to be at least one higher-up among them… but that higher-up hadn’t shown his face.
