chapter 31
Episode 31
doo doo doo
The sound of helicopters echoed in the sky.
Jung-min said to Jo-won as he saw the helicopter descending to the roof of the shelter.
“It sounds so loud!”
“I beg your pardon?”
Jo Won frowned and asked Jung Min.
Jeongmin shook his head and waved his hand as if he was about to shout again.
The helicopter landed on the roof of Daesung Shelter, and someone in a suit walked out and said,
“[Daesung] Are you the representative of Shelter?”
When the man in the suit shouted, Jung-min and Jo-won nodded.
“Yes, let’s get on. We will move right away.”
Jung-min and Jo-won boarded the helicopter.
The helicopter took off again with a loud noise and started flying toward the [Pearl River] shelter.
‘It’s my first time riding a helicopter. It’s quite noisy and crazy.’
Jeong-min gave up trying to talk to Jo-won, who was sitting next to him.
It was because the man in the suit sitting opposite and looking at them was not only bothered, but also because the sound of the helicopter was too loud.
‘Just close your eyes and go quietly. I’ll be there soon’
Jimin sat with his arms crossed and his eyes closed.
The man in the suit looked at him with interest.
As expected, it did not take long to arrive at the Pearl River Shelter.
Jung-min inspected the size of the Pearl River before landing on the heliport in the shelter.
‘It’s quite wide… It’s about twice as large as Daesung’s Shelter.’
Jung-Min noticed that tanks deployed on the outskirts of the shelter and people in military uniforms were standing guard.
‘The atmosphere is definitely different from Daesung. It’s bloody. Soldiers, tanks… uh huh.’
While Jung-min was thinking, the helicopter landed at the heliport.
The man in the suit spoke to Jung-min and Jo-won.
“Im here. I will guide you inside.”
Jeong-min and Jo-won started walking after the man in the suit.
Jo Won asked the man in a suit walking ahead.
“Is everyone sending a helicopter to bring them?”
“no. Helicopters were sent only to representatives of large shelters. Representatives of general guilds do not support transportation.”
Hearing the man’s words, Jungmin thought.
‘Well, even if it’s just the guilds within the radius, the number would be huge.
As I followed the man in front of me, I saw soldiers holding rifles standing guard on both sides of the corridor.
‘I don’t think there’s any need to deploy soldiers to a place like this… Well, it must be for creating a sense of intimidation. It’s blatant, but the effect will be pretty good’
As I walked down the corridor, I came across a large door in front of me.
The man in the suit pointed inside and said to Jo Won.
“You can go in and wait. There are representatives from other shelters and guilds who have already arrived and are waiting, so you might as well wait while chatting. I will give you one caveat. You must not enter the meeting room with weapons in your possession. It would be best to confiscate them all, but if you put them in your inventory, we won’t be able to do anything about them. For that reason, once you enter the conference room, the use of the inventory is completely prohibited. This is to prevent unexpected situations, so please understand. If there is any movement to use the inventory from inside, the soldiers standing guard inside will immediately subdue it. So, if you have something to take out, please take it out of here in advance. This is to prevent unpleasant incidents, so we ask for your kind understanding.”
After speaking, the man in a suit looked at Jo Won and Jung Min.
When the two did not show any particular movement, the man in the suit nodded and said.
“I understand that you agree. Then go in.”
The door to the meeting room opened, and Jung-min and Jo-won walked inside.
The interior was a space that felt like a large school auditorium.
There was a stage-like space in the front, and a small podium was located in the center.
In the lower space where Jeong-min and Jo-won stood, round tables were placed here and there, and various shelter names and guild names were written on the signpost in the center.
What stood out most of all was the soldiers standing in front of the podium, staring at the tables without moving.
They always had a rifle in their hand.
Seeing this, Joey grumbled.
“I’m going to do some work… Was it necessary to arrange it like that even inside the conference hall?”
“It must be the intention to intimidate the representatives of each shelter and guild. It seems that soldiers were placed in the corridors for the same reason, but it is definitely a bit excessive.”
Shelter and the guild representatives, who had already arrived inside the meeting room, seemed to have the same idea, and gave the soldiers uncomfortably.
Jo Won also looked at the soldiers uncomfortably and said.
“They told me to have a chat. Well, but I have to do what I have to do.”
Jo Won walked to the table with the sign [Union] written on it.
The soldiers’ eyes became grim, but Jo Won, who walked as if he didn’t mind at all, asked the two men and women sitting there.
“hello. My name is Kwak Jo-won, who came as the representative of Shelter [Daesung]. Which of you two is the representative of [Union]?”
In response to Jo Won’s question, a fat man among the men and women who were sitting stood up and spoke.
“hello. I am Joo Jin-jin, the representative of Shelter [Union]. nice to meet you.”
Jo Won shook hands with Seokjin and said.
“Are you familiar with what we talked about yesterday?”
“Yes, of course. But I really don’t like the atmosphere. What are you doing with armed soldiers standing in front of you like this..”
As Jo Won and Seok-jin were talking, the other representatives who gained courage from seeing them began to gather one by one and exchange greetings.
“hello. I am Jeon Yun-nam, who came as the representative of the guild [Unnam]. Nice to meet you.”
“Did the guild leader come in person?”
“Ugh, since it’s already a small guild…”
“hello. This is Yoonji Park, who participated as a representative of Shelter [Mirinae]. Please take good care of me”
As several representatives approached and began to exchange greetings, the inside of the conference room quickly became noisy.
In the meantime, representatives from other shelters and guilds continued to enter the conference hall.
Jo Won said quietly while looking at the representatives around him.
“I’m sure you remember everything we talked about yesterday. We must act in solidarity as a group. Even if they try to suppress it with the force they have, we must never be intimidated. Rather, you should go out boldly. You know? It means that all large shelters and small and medium guilds should move with the idea that they are allied forces against [Pulkang].”
While Jo Won was talking with the representatives around him, there were two men and women looking at Jung Min with anxious eyes from behind.
Haeyun Kim, the guild leader of the [Star] guild, whispered in the ear of Jeon Jiyeon, the deputy guild leader, in a low voice.
“.. is he right then? The gate we wanted was destroyed by ourselves…”
Jiyeon nodded and let out a small whisper.
“that’s right. Don’t pretend to know me. Don’t even talk nonsense. And just in case.. if something happens, stick to that person. Got it?”
Hae-yoon nodded and said.
“It should have ended without incident..”
After hearing Hae-yoon’s words, Ji-yeon looked at the soldiers ahead with anxious eyes and said,
“I hope so.”
While Jo Won was talking with other representatives, someone went up to the podium.
It was the man in the suit who guided Jo Won and Jung Min to the helicopter.
The man spoke into the microphone on the podium.
“Now, everyone, please sit down. Soon the chief bushelter of [Pearl River] will arrive.”
After hearing the words from the podium, the members and the representatives exchanged glances with each other and went to their respective seats.
After a while, a small door at the back of the stage opened and four stout men in suits and a middle-aged man entered.
Looking at the middle-aged man, Jo Won said to Jung-min in a surprised voice.
“That man…!”
“Who are you? Do you know someone?”
Jo Won looked at Jung Min with eyes that said he didn’t know that.
“Don’t you know? Isn’t it Chairman Shin Joo-bin, who was the chairman of the [Jukang] group?”
“Yes? Are you pretty young? I think I’ve heard the name.”
“Why is Shin Joo-bin the Bushelter? Of course, I thought it would be a shelter ground…”
While Jo Won muttered to himself with a questionable face, Joo-bin took a seat in front of the podium.
The four stalwart men were also divided into two and stood side by side on either side of the guest.
Jung-min looked at the four men and used ’emotional eyes’.
‘Ohh…the stats are quite high, right? Except for the intelligence stats of all four of them, all of them are over 40… All of the skills they have are combat skills. It’s perfect as a bodyguard.
While Jung-min was thinking, Joo-bin stood in front of the podium and started talking into the microphone.
“Welcome the representatives of the various shelters and guilds who have come this far. My name is Joo-bin Shin, the head of the bushelter in [Phugang]. The reason we have gathered here today is to become a member of [Phugang], which I mentioned earlier, and to overcome this difficult [trial of God] together..”
“Wait!”
A man sitting at a table with a sign reading [Sungjin] raised his hand and interrupted the villager.
Joo-bin looked at the man for a while and asked.
“… What are you doing? The representative of Shelter [Sungjin]..?”
The man got up from his seat and said to Zubin.
“We are not gathered here to belong to [Phujiang]. Wasn’t that a unilateral notice from [Phu Kang]? We gathered like this to formally protest against the unilateral notice and to find a new point of agreement.”
At the man’s words, ‘That’s right!’ Or, ‘That’s right!’ A response was heard.
The villager said while looking around the tables in front of him with his eyes narrowed.
“Do the other representatives here have the same idea as [Sungjin]?”
At Jubin’s words, Jo Won stood up from his seat and said.
“Yes, that’s right. 5 shelters and 73 guilds gathered here. All have the same meaning.
We request that the territory be reset amicably through an agreement with the [Phugang] side.”
Joo-bin looked at the signpost [Daesung] at the table where Jo Won stood and said.
“[Daesung] You are the CEO of Shelter.. Probably Manager Kwak Jo-won.. right?”
Jo Won looked at the main guest as if he was surprised and said.
“Uh, how did you do that?”
Joo-bin smiled and said to Jo-won.
“Well, you’ll find out later. He is the one who came as the representative of [Daesung], not from another place.
He only looked at the guest’s question with nervous eyes, but no one answered.
Looking at those people, Joo-bin laughed and spoke.
“Our [Phukgang] shelter is not just an ordinary shelter. It is a shelter made jointly with the government of the Republic of Korea. It also means that [Phugang] is replacing the government of the Republic of Korea. At this point, you can guess who the shelter chief of [Pearl River] is, right? Yes, that’s right. Sung Ji-hyeok, President of the Republic of Korea. He is the shelter chief of [Pearl River]. All of you must be citizens of the Republic of Korea. Are you still refusing to become a member of [Phugang], which carries on the legitimacy of the Korean government?”
Joo Seok-jin, who said he came as the representative of [Union], kicked off the table and shouted.
“What did the government of the Republic of Korea do when they said that [The Trial of God] would begin? Wasn’t the government the first to build a shelter by tying up with [Phugang] to live alone, while not paying attention to the people protesting?”
“I beg you to cover up your words. I have a feeling that the patriotic soldiers here might make a mistake.”
“Are you threatening me? Are you a citizen? Are you threatening the people with a gun?”
As Seokjin shouted, loud noises began to come from the other tables.
Among them, a high voice mixed with profanity came out, and the meeting hall quickly became a mess.
“Quiet! Be quiet!”
A man in a suit standing behind the guest of honor shouted at the table, but to no avail.
Watching the commotion grow, Zubin took out a pistol from his inside pocket and shot it toward the sky.
taang
The turmoil in the meeting room subsided in an instant.
Looking at the meeting hall, which had become quiet as if cold water had been poured on it, Zubin said coldly.
“Cheeky bastards.”
