Chapter 3 (volume 1)
"How many times do I have to tell you that there is no need to make a sacrifice?!!"
"Just wait a little longer for the rain to happen!!!"
Yae Sakura shouted already losing patience.
The place she is in is her home, the home of the village chief Yae, an old Japanese house. In the living room with the wooden floor there were several people there. Being the chief of the village who is the father of Yae Sakura, the other adults in the village, and also...
"Onee-chan please calm down, nothing will work out if... Cof-Cof..."
There was also a 12-year-old girl with fair skin and pink hair. She was a little pale and gave the impression of being someone in very fragile health.
This girl is Yae Rin, she is Yae Sakura's younger twin sister.
"Rin?!!"
Yae Sakura immediately went to her sister's side. Yae Rin has always been in poor health.
"Sakura, I understand that you are still a child and that because of that there are things that you still don't understand. But you must understand that we need the blessings of the gods to overcome these difficult times."
"This drought that has lasted for several months and the attacks on the corrupted beasts that have been plaguing the village, 6 people have died so far, if we don't have the protection of the gods then more villagers will die. So we need to hold the ceremony of offering to the gods, Sakura you need to put that stubbornness aside and think about the good of the village."
The village chief spoke calmly in a resolute tone. The other adults in the room agreed with his words.
"And to get this protection, are you going to sacrifice Rin? Are you going to sacrifice your own daughter for something you're not even sure is going to happen?"
Yae Sakura spoke angrily as she clenched her fist.
She looked at her sister with a determined look.
'No matter how many times that nightmare is repeated, I will never give up trying to save Rin.'
Yae Sakura thought with her unwavering determination not to succumb to her enemy with whom she has fought all these centuries. Even though she knows that everything in this place is just the reproduction of her memories and that the girl next to her is not her real sister, she will not give in.
'For Rin and Kallen ... I'm not going to submit to Honkai.' Those were Yae Sakura's thoughts.
The village chief looked at Yae Sakura for a moment and then took a sigh.
*sigh*
"Sakura if you are so against the ceremony because of Rin then what do you think about changing who will be the offering?" The village chief spoke with a neutral expression.
"What do you mean by that?" Yae Sakura asked suspiciously and with a bad feeling about her father's intentions.
"It's very simple, I heard that you brought a boy out to our village earlier today, so we can use him as..." the boss was talking more was quickly interrupted by Yae Sakura.
"Definitely not!!! When are you going to stop thinking that everything is resolved with deaths?" Yae Sakura has already lost patience.
Even if Yae Sakura has a little suspicion about the boy she brought, she would never sacrifice an innocent child for her own earnings. If she did that then she would be no different from those slag, and she could no longer face Rin and Kallen either.
The village chief and the other adults looked at Yae Sakura with cold looks.
"Miko-sama you need to understand that this is in this session..."
"Miko-sama this is for the good of the village..."
The other adults started to speak but were interrupted by the village chief who raised his hand signaling to be silent.
The village chief looked at Yae Sakura with disappointment.
"Sakura, the offering ceremony will take place tonight, you need to decide who the offering will be. Otherwise ... "the village chief was speaking but was interrupted by a very arrogant childish voice.
"Oh ... then the mutts made such a disappointing decision, well that was already expected of a bunch of mongrel."
Ryusuke came in through the door as if he were the owner of the world with an arrogant stance and full of contempt for the people present in the room.
The adults were enraged because of Ryusuke's attitude and got up.
"Boy how dare you be disrespectful to us like that? You don't see that ... ah..."
The moment one of the adults started complaining about Ryusuke's attitude he collapsed on the floor.
It wasn't just him. Everyone in the room with the exception of Yae Sakura and her little sister fell to the floor with painful expressions.
"I don't remember giving permission for a mongrel to speak. " Ryusuke spoke without caring about the suffering of the adults on the floor. He walked towards the pair of sisters.
The younger sister was a little afraid of events and buried her head in Yae Sakura's chest.
Yae Sakura observed that she was approaching them while finally understanding why she felt a familiar feeling from the boy.
'This feeling I felt before is from Kallen's Oath of Judah, I have no doubt about it. But who is this boy?'
Yae Sakura thought as she looked at the approaching boy. She noticed that the eyes that were once black now had a bright red color.
"Sakura-san you don't have to look at me like that. I would not be ungrateful to harm the person who saved me. I heard what was going on and so I decided to help you." Ryusuke spoke with a confident smile.
"Help me? But how so?" Yae Sakura asked in doubt.
"It's simple, I'll make it rain in this mongrel village." Ryusuke spoke with a confident smile.
