I Joined the Sentai Heroes Who Were Beautiful Girls Other Than Me but the Heroines Were All Yanderangers

chapter 3

3. Philance Pink is a Cute Junior

I receive a neatly folded item made of a blue material that looks like it would cling tightly to my skin, with a heart-shaped pattern on the chest. It’s a basic male hero suit without a cape like Red’s.

“This is your hero suit, Philance Blue. There might not be many opportunities to use it, but it has high durability, power assist, and it can give even an ordinary person like you physical abilities that are above average. on par with trained humans or those with great endurance, so unfortunately, it won’t allow you to be active as a hero who saves people.”

To my surprise, a hero suit that fits me perfectly was completed within thirty minutes of my joining. As expected of a doctor who supports righteous heroes, he must secretly possess technology that is several steps ahead of modern science.

“Alright, now that the suit is done, let’s go greet the other members. Akane must be getting impatient since she went ahead.”

The other side of the used bookstore’s staff room was a simple empty room, but when the floor was opened, a hidden passage appeared, and beyond that, a futuristic underground base spread out. According to Dr. Gentian’s explanation, the bookstore is just a decoy, and the place we’re in now, hidden beneath it, is the heroes’ headquarters. This place, which has a long, white-tone passage, is quite spacious, and it seems that some of the members, including Akane- san, live here. Of course, the doctor’s lab is also apparently somewhere in this base. It’s unexpected, yet somehow predictable in a superhero template kind of way. I guess this is the kind of subtle reaction you’d have if you actually saw something like this from an SF movie.

I follow the doctor and walk through the spacious base. Akane-san has apparently called the other members. Green, Yellow, Pink; they’re all apparently female, but what kind of people are they?

“Try on the suit later and let me know how it feels. If there are any problems, tell me and I’ll fix them. You can live here if you want, but you probably live at home, so it’s better to sleep at home so that your hero activities don’t get found out.”

“Thank you, I’ll do that. By the way, I have a question. The suit alone can only improve my physical abilities, right? The heroes I know don’t just move like that. Akane-san even created a giant weapon in the Shadow’s nest.”

“Ah, when an ordinary person like you wears the hero suit, it only has the effect of a powered suit, but if someone with a certain aptitude wears it, the function installed in the heart part of the chest activates and they gain abilities that are far beyond ordinary people.”

“Aptitude? What kind of person is that?”

“All of our heroes fight with the power of love.”

The power of love. What a vague answer.

“Don’t make that face. It’s actually true. I’ll spare you the details, but the energy of the emotion of love that humans have has a strength and cost performance that surpasses any other energy. Akane and the others are using converted love energy to be heroes.”

“So, those with a lot of love…?”

“That’s right. In the eyes of the world, it could be called obsessive love.”

It’s a bit shocking to be told that I’m lacking in something as vague as love’s energy, but obsessive love… I’ve never had a girlfriend, so I’m not sure if I’m capable of obsessive love or not .

“This love thing is something that all humans have, but only a few special people can release it as energy. Most people can only use it for trivial efforts, like work or fashion or other everyday things.”

So it’s not that I’m especially lacking, it’s just that the kids who can become heroes have a lot of love.

“Is it because young women tend to be more sensitive?”

“That’s about right. As the world says, there are more female heroes. I don’t know if it’s because they’re creatures who become mothers, but women tend to be the ones with deeper love. Of course, even men and the Elderly can become heroes if they have the right qualities, but as human hearts grow, they stabilize and can no longer experience the explosive emotional ups and downs of adolescence.”

“So pure children can be more emotional without any constraints?”

Among them, those who can give love are probably at their peak as heroes around high school age.

“By the way, this isn’t limited to romantic love. It could be love for family, love for one’s race, or even love for something that exists only in your imagination. As long as you have feelings of love and longing for something , that’s all it takes to become a hero. However, the kind of love that can be converted into energy is not something that wells up endlessly. Basically, romantic love is the most common and efficient type… but it’s also unstable, so there are many cases of heroes retiring after breaking up with their boyfriends.”

It’s a bit like being an idol, but it makes sense that if you lose the person you were trying to protect, you would lose your motivation.

“Oh, while we’ve been talking, the second one has arrived. Blue.”

“Hey, Doc!”

“Huh?”

A high school girl with pink hair appeared from the other side. She has long, slender twin tails and is a bit shorter than average for a high school girl. She came running down the hall towards us and caught her breath before continuing.

“I heard from Akane, are you the new Blue?”

Her big eyes make her look childlike, but her demeanor has a somewhat devilish quality to it. With her light pink nails and sheer lipstick that doesn’t seem to violate school regulations, she looks like an ordinary cute high school girl, but since she’s Here, she must be a member of the sentai team.

“Nice to meet you, my name is Asagi Sora. Are you from Sonoheno High School?”

The reason I knew she was a high school student at a glance was because she was wearing a familiar uniform. The uniform at the high school I attended was a bit unusual for a high school uniform, with a white base and red lines, so it was quite distinctive.

“Yes! Ah, are you from my high school, Blue?”

“I graduated last year.”

“Really! Then can I call you Sora-senpai?”

When she says it so cutely with her eyes looking slightly upwards, I feel like I would forgive her even if she called me a pig. Even though I was a high school student myself just a few months ago, I can’t resist the destructive power of a cute high school girl.

“You can call me whatever you like. Let’s see… what’s your name?”

“Oops! Sorry, my name is Sekichiku Momo. My last name isn’t cute, so please call me by my first name.”

“I understand, Momo-san.”

“Please call me by my first name! You’re my senpai after all.”

“Momo.”

“Ehehehehe.”

Momo tilts her head and smiles bashfully. She’s so cute. I was in the return (Kīnobe is a club for students who go home right after school) during high school, so I never had any kouhai, but if there were cute kouhai like this, I should have joined a club or committee.

“Are you Phi Lance Pink?”

With her twin tails tied low and her pink hair, Phi Lance Pink is a new hero who is said to have changed her中文(中文(中文) body is a term used to refer to the person inside a hero’s suit) a few months ago.

“That’s right! Are you a fan of Momo’s?”

“Well, I’ve always admired heroes.”

“Really? Well, it’s a bit disappointing, but that’s okay. Momo has a rule against dating fans.”

“Dating!?”

“Yeah. Senpai is pretty handsome, and to become a hero, you have to be someone who cares a lot about your lover, right? I might end up falling for you.”

It’s the first time I’ve ever been called handsome. Even if it’s just flattery, I’m not used to it and my heart is pounding. Unfortunately, I’m just a mediocre person who got into the team through connections and can only give the average amount of love, so I won’t be able to live up to Momo’s expectations. Of course, even though I’m not used to women, I wouldn’t do anything as stupid as desperately denying it and ruining the friendly mood she’s created.

“Ah, do you already have a girlfriend?”

“Huh?”

Maybe because I hesitated and didn’t answer right away, she took it as me being embarrassed and trying to avoid the question.

“…Could it be, Akane-san?”

Huh? Why did my voice suddenly get lower?

“No, it’s not. She doesn’t have a boyfriend either… In the first place, there’s no way any girl would want to date a guy like me.”

“Really? I don’t think so, but whatever. Anyway, can we exchange LINE? I still have to greet the other members, you know?”

“Oh, sure.”

Overwhelmed by the pressure of this energetic high school girl, I ended up exchanging contact information with her and parted ways. Unlike the dignified Akane-san or the mysterious Dr. Ryutanso, Momo seems like a really ordinary and fragile girl. I hate to say it, but I have this image of girls like Momo getting into and out of relationships quickly, always having casual flings. But maybe she has more traditional values about love than she lets on.

“Are you interested in Momo? Sora-kun?”

Dr. Ryutanso, who had observed the whole thing, saw through my rude speculation.

“Not really, but she seems like a normal high school girl.”

“Can you not imagine that a ‘normal high school girl’ could have incredibly strong feelings?”

“Well, I guess.”

“Kukukuku, you’re so honest. Well, let’s leave the answer to that for after you’ve greeted the other members.”

Dr. Ryutanso is grinning and looking amused, as if he’s teasing me.

I can’t shake the feeling that there’s something big and dark hidden within this hero base. I hope I’m just being paranoid.
