I Have Supported My Favorite Character for 10 Years

chapter 12

12. Did you give Joa oppa a hint?

***

The streets of a wealthy neighborhood where the mansions sat in orderly rows.

Azel and Jenna were walking home from school together. Since their entrance to high school, the two had trained and ended their day together. After all, their homes were close to each other.

The two of them chattered as they walked side-by-side.

The topic was [hints for the sponsor].

“This time, I did mention vaguely that I’ll be entering the academy next year. Is this enough though? … Did you give Joa oppa a hint?”

At Jenna’s words, Azel smacked her head.

“Ah, I completely forgot about it.”

Now with a secretary and bodyguards, Azel was the youngest landowner in the city of Vernon. But her clumsiness remained unchanged.

“Ah, this forgetful one. However, Azel, you… wouldn’t it be okay? Maybe they gifted you the house as a preparation since they knew about ‘that day’?”

The day when the sponsor descends from the heavens was euphemistically referred to as ‘that day.’

Ironically, the sponsors themselves didn’t know they’d descended from the sky.

These facts were not allowed to be revealed by the believer.

This was the doctrine set by the god Vernon.

For this reason, sponsors who have descended from the heavens would occasionally cause mayhem with a disoriented look on their faces.

If a sponsor couldn’t ‘ascend’ by meeting ‘specific conditions’, they wouldn’t be able to return to the world they originated from.

Thus, it wasn’t strange to give the sponsor a hint about ‘that day’ beforehand.

Though it varied according to the believer’s inclination, it was a general rule to give a hint to prepare for the shock of the sponsor descending from the sky, especially when they were in a good relationship.

“Is that so? Jenna, what hint did you give?”

“I simply mentioned that I’ll be entering the academy next year.”

I see.

Azel nodded slowly, her face adorned with a smile, then turned to Jenna who had been quiet for a while.

“Did he not comment on the photos I took this time? Joa oppa said skin exposure wasn’t allowed.”

“I had already informed him this month, so he wouldn’t worry.”

Ever since her middle school days, when Jenna wore the ‘wet look’, she had gained enourmous popularity and had been wearing the clothes she received back then.

Not only because she grew popular, but mainly because all the clothes were gifts from Joa.

She didn’t want to wear any other clothes.

Despite her outfits, Jenna always acted precisely as Joa instructed, she was cautious and wary.

Ironically, this behavior made the boys around her even more impatient.

During events like Valentine’s Day, her locker would be completely filled with chocolates.

Whenever they were bored, boys would come up to her, make a confession, or leave letters on her desk and leave.

Separate from her active offense, Jenna never let the men touch her as much as a hair.

She hadn’t been near men within 2 meters since puberty.

Nevertheless, the majority of students in the high school academy called Jenna the ultimate ‘b*tch’. Not in the conventional derogatory sense, but rather as a sort of compliment among the female students.

Quite a few male students of decent appearance wanted to try talking with Jenna, but if she pushed them away, some of them shifted their attention to Jenna’s friends –

Due to the benefits from this behavior, the surrounding female students expressed their admiration and said, ’As expected of our Jenna!’. They couldn’t help but admire Jenna’s approach more than envy it.

Her popularity grew day by day, irrespective of gender.

Azel, too, knew this fact, so he nodded.

Then, filled with his characteristic curiosity, he asked Jenna.

“But is it just Sir Joa? Or do all the sponsors take a lot of interest in what we wear?”

“It seems to be different for each sponsor… But it surely seems that Joa oppa does have a special interest in this.”

Joa always told her to be wary of men. He never said anything about Jenna’s b*tch look, but from time to time, he recommended clothes that covered slightly more skin, like ‘the clothes you wore previously are better than those.’

Because of the doctrine established by Joa, Azel wore long sleeves and long pants, even in the hot summer.

Only her face and hands were exposed.

“Is Sir Joa very strict?”

“Perhaps… but, isn’t it because Joa oppa cares about us that he is like this?”

“Mmm. I hope he realizes we are also deeply considerate and thoughtful towards him.”

How grateful they were to him.

“Exactly. You have no idea how much effort I put in to meet oppa properly. I even told you to ask me sometime. How faithfully I followed oppa’s words. And Azel, remember you promised not to lie. hehehehe.”

“Mmm, that’s good. Well done. I’ll make sure to tell him. How much Jenna thinks about Joa oppa. I bet Joa oppa will appreciate your sincerity.”

“Thanks, I will also tell him how faithfully you follow him. But, he might already know. Joa oppa is almost prophetic after all.”

As Jenna finished speaking with a bright smile, Azel nodded her head.

That’s right, that’s right.

“But Jenna, how did you start calling Sir Joa ‘oppa’?”

Among other sponsors, some were quite oppressive and aggressive. In fact, the existence of the sponsors themselves represents powerful authority located high in the sky.

A few years ago, they personally witnessed the top-tier sponsor, ‘Joa’, a being emanating enormous dignity.

However, as soon as Jenna called him ‘Sir Joa’, he narrowed the gap asking, ‘Can’t you call me oppa like you used to?’

Jenna appreciated the change, and Azel was amazed by their unique term of address.

“When I was young, I asked if I could use a more comfortable term, and he allowed it.”

“Wow…”

Actually, from Cheon-Woon’s point of view, he would have allowed the same to Azel if she had requested.

However, she didn’t dare to ask.

In her childhood, it was because of the strict nuns.

Now it’s because of a different person –

The personnel in suits and ties, waiting for her far ahead.

One of them, Secretary Hermanon.

As the two girls approached, Hermanon naturally took Azel’s bag from her.

Then he respectfully bowed his head to Jenna.

“Miss Jenna, thank you for your time today.”

“”Thank you!””

The women in suits flanking Ermmon also bowed their heads powerfully.

“No, we’re just walking home together.”

Ermmon wasn’t just a simple secretary. A secretary with a patron emblem. She was stubborn and meticulous, but over the past few years, she had completely overturned Azel’s lifestyle and environment.

There were already more businesses under Azel’s name than one could count on one hand. The security force was always on standby outside the radius of the high school.

“It means a lot to me. Thank you, Jenna. If it wasn’t for you, our precious flower, Azel, could have faced some danger… The policy of not being able to place private forces in high school is something we continually regret.”

“Ermmon, you don’t have to…”

Azel had been seeing Ermmon’s approach for several years now, but she wasn’t used to it. As always, she pleaded with Ermmon while sweating profusely.

Whereas Jenna was well accustomed to Ermmon’s rhetoric.

“I’m the one honored to be able to look after such a flower as Azel. hehehehe. I’ll be going now.”

“Please get home safely, Jenna.”

The conversation with Ermmon ended quickly, and Jenna waved to Azel.

“Azel, I’m going to go.”

“Mm, bye bye!”

Jenna passed by her house and ran with Azel’s waving hand behind her.

Towards the place where she works part-time.

[Bernon Beach]

─ Water Safety Control Tower

Jenna has been working part-time at the beach infrequently since she entered high school.

Even though she had amassed an unbelievable amount of money-

There was a reason she continued to work.

According to Bernongod, patrons lose the sublime power they exhibited in the heavens and arrive on the ground in a very weak state on the day they descend from the sky.

Indeed, upon observing the patrons in the official academy, they didn’t seem to exert any sort of power.

– This based on Bernongod’s explanation, but in reality, patrons didn’t possess any magic or divine power, so without [Bernongod’s Patron Filter], they would naturally seem weak.

Regardless, after hearing Bernongod’s explanation, Jenna ran a simulation.

A simulation of when ‘Joah’ lands here.

She could certainly protect him on land. But what about in the water…?

This fantasy of hers playing around with ‘Joah’ here and there reached that point.

Jenna made up her mind.

─ She had to become a water safety officer!

“Hello!”

“Welcome, Jenna. Today, you’re assigned to Area 1-3.”

“Okay!”

Jenna answered energetically and ran to Area 1-3. There was a party of couples enjoying themselves at the beach in the bustling Area 1-3.

The beach was essentially packed with safety measures for emergencies.

That didn’t mean emergencies never happened. For example, water monsters popping out from the water labyrinth, or the water labyrinth expanding its territory.

Jenna was there for safety in case of such incidents. Although she already had a strong position as the top dealer in high school, it didn’t hurt to gain experience in ‘water,’ this special situation.

“I should come here with Joa oppa next time.”

Jena once glanced back at the sea to check its safety.

Then she stood in front of the lifeguard tower, writing on the sand with her feet.

‘Heehee.’

The words lightly inscribed on the sandy beach. Although the waves wouldn’t reach here, it would soon be erased by the blowing of the wind and the coming and going of visitors.

However, Jena hoped that it wouldn’t be erased.

Jena couldn’t accurately define what she was feeling at the moment.

It might be longing or perhaps it was gratitude towards Oppa whom she relied on.

Or perhaps-

It might be an emotion that she didn’t know well yet.

All that Jena did was simply smile and look ahead.

The sunset seemed more beautiful today of all days.

After briefly watching the sunset, she looked down at the writing again.

“I wish he’d come sooner.”

It would be nice if we could come together and watch the sunset.

Once again, as she was smiling, she heard a playful woman’s voice.

“Jena, are you here?”
