Chapter 241: One was talking seriously and one was listening seriously. (1)
“What competition?” Gu Shao looked Gu Xi, feeling a little bit of a headache.
What was it that this girl was so into competitions?
And, what kind of a competition this time around?
Hearing Gu Shao’s voice coming from above her, sounding somewhat solemn, Gu Xi got a little bit nervous and reflexively lowered her head some.
Twisting her fingers and feeling nervous for a few seconds, Gu Xi finally gritted her teeth and came out with it, “It’s the Tianchuang Competition.”
With her head lowered, Gu Xi did not see that Gu Shao’s brows had lifted. She worried that Gu Shao would think this was some sort of an “indy” competition and quickly added, “It’s a very formal competition focusing primarily on research. Everything is very up and up.”
“I know that,” said Gu Shao.
Gu Xi looked up abruptly when she heard Gu Shao. Her eyes beaming, she asked, “You know about this competition, Dad?”
Gu Xi was pleasantly surprised.
Then again, given that the cash award was 1 million yuan and focusing on researching, of course Gu Shao, as a big player in this field, would have heard about it.
“Mmm,” acknowledged Gu Shao. To be more specific, he didn’t just know about it, he even invested in it.
“But this competition does not gear toward minors,” said Gu Shao again.
The purpose of having the Tianchuang Competition was to allow some respectable teams in the research field an opportunity to promote their products and also to discover more outstanding teams, talents, and projects. As such, the competition had stringent requirements compared to other competitions of the same type.
This really was not a suitable competition for Gu Xi.
Gu Xi’s head lowered even more when she heard Gu Shao’s words.
Then she heard Gu Shao asking, “Why did you want to join this competition?”
Gu Xi, “……”
She couldn’t possibly tell Gu Shao that it was for the prize money, could she? Not to mention that she had signed up to the competition initially with Gu Shao’s information.
Gu Xi’s brain worked very fast and she tried to come up with a reason with her guilty conscience. “Well, I feel that this competition is amazing and I want to try, I mean, I want to have the experience.”
Looking at Gu Xi’s intimidated look, the solemnness in Gu Shao’s eyes dissipated. Sighing helplessly, he finally lifted his hand and patted her over her head.
“Don’t let it bog down your studying.”
Upon hearing that, Gu Xi was talk. Did that mean he did not object to her joining the competition?
Gu Xi looked up at Gu Shao again. “So, you are okay with me joining this competition, Dad?”
Gu Shao looked at Gu Xi and didn’t say anything.
The Tianchuang Competition had already been through two rounds of elimination. Exactly how sincere was this girl asking him for his permission now?
In addition, when they updated the applications information, he was the one who put in Gu Xi’s name. What was the point in objecting to that now?
Seeing that Gu Shao had nodded, a bright smile appeared on Gu Xi’s face immediately. She took the opportunity to come clean to Gu Shao. “There’s something else that I wanted to tell you. I filled in your information as my guardian.”
Technically, she did not fill that out.
And she had no idea that Gu Shao was the one who filled it out for her later.
When she learned that the competition had updated their criteria, her applicant information had already been updated when she logged in. Gu Shao had turned into her guardian and her own information had already been filled in.
She was even a little surprised when she saw that.
When she thought about it later on, there really were not privacy in the age of information and she put that behind her. She was, however, amazed by how omnipotent the Tianchuang Competition was.
After she was done talking, Gu Xi worried that Gu Shao would get upset and never had the courage to tell him that she had applied with his information initially.
That being said, she glanced over at Gu Shao a few times and noticed that he didn’t look all that unhappy? He seemed to have accepted it calmly.
