Chapter 103: Looking over at Gu Xi, what's with that unpleasant feeling that he was experiencing right now? (3)
Gao Zifan was already a legend-like existence at Liming. He was from a good family, handsome, and had good grades. Nevertheless, all of those became insignificant when compared to Sheng Xiuyan.
This was the first time that Gao Zifan was able to talk to this legend face-to-face. Sheng Xiuyan had a relaxed look on him but others could feel his pressing aura.
“So you are saying that someone dragged the team down, causing you to lose to HSAU?” Sheng Xiuyan continued to ask.
The others from HSAU nearby didn’t care for what Sheng Xiuyan had just said: We earned first place fair and square, alright?
Gao Zifan became more nervous with Sheng Xiuyan’s questioning.
“I was affected by Gu Xi during the final round last year,” said Gao Zifan vaguely.
Gao Zifan didn’t feel that he was lying – the only reason he did the same sets of questions as Gu Xi was because he couldn’t trust her. And, during the competition, on some of the ones that he was uncertain about but chose the correct answer, he felt that they were incorrect when he saw that Gu Xi had the same answer as him and, as such, as changed them to different answers.
If it wasn’t for Gu Xi, he wouldn’t have scored so poorly.
What Gao Zifan had said sort of answered Sheng Xiuyan’s question and also told everyone else in a roundabout way that it was Gu Xi who had dragged him down.
Sheng Xiuyan smiled all of a sudden and a hint of mockery flashed past his eyes. He said to Gao Zifan coldly, “Well, in that case, I have you to thank. Thank you for getting such a low score and letting us take first place.”
Sheng Xiuyan’s words baffled everyone. What had just happened? Gao Zifan said it was Gu Xi who had dragged him down but Sheng Xiuyan was thanking Gao Zifan?
“What do you mean by that?” asked Gao Zifan, his face dropped. His hands that were shoved in his pockets trembled.
“The literally meaning of the words.” Comparing to Gao Zifan’s level, Sheng Xiuyan leaned more toward what he had seen of Gu Xi’s performance.
Then again, the very next second, something else occurred to Sheng Xiuyan.
– Sheng Xiuyan thought he had scored the highest during last year’s competition. At the end, when his class teacher found out his score through some channels, he learned that the answer sheet that scored the highest was from Liming. In fact, the other individual scored a full 10 points higher than him. Meaning, they completed 10 more questions than him.
If that person was not Gao Zifan, then it could only be Gu Xi.
That meant to say that Gu Xi didn’t just beat him once; she had beaten him twice?!
Sheng Xiuyan looked over at Gu Xi, who was relaxingly enjoying her breakfast. What was this unpleasantness that he was feeling all of a sudden?
He saw that Gu Xi had finished her breakfast by now. She had also finished up the glass of juice that was handed to her by Gu Chenyi and stood up from her chair.
Gu Xi looked straight at Gao Zifan and Lin Anxin and finally said to the two of them directly, “This whole time, pretending that you just happened to run into me and that you were being nice, all you wanted to do was to bring up the incident where you made up the facts that I had cheated on the examinations, right? Don’t bother beating around the bush. Here, I’ll just say it out loud for you.”
Gu Shao had told Gu Xi previously that he had already resolved her issue at Liming for her and she needn’t worry about anything else. As such, she had nothing to be scared of.
Sure enough, as soon as Gu Xi had said that, those over at Liming did not retort right away: The school had announced publicly that the rumors were untrue and that Gu Xi was misunderstood. But Lin Anxin was the one who made them up? Was that true?
Everybody looked over at Lin Anxin thoughtfully.
“Bull. You have any evidences?” Lin Anxin started to fret.
“No, I have no evidences,” said Gu Xi righteously.
The Lin family had pressured the school into erasing all of the evidences.
“But that is not going to stop me from believing that it was you.”
“You––!”
