I have a wildlife zoo
Chapter 602: The Ape's Three Cries and The Tear-Stained Dress
Sigh, how can I not worry? I'm worried to death.
Adults and children experience joy and sorrow differently.
Mother Tang was anxious and couldn't sleep, whereas Tang Xiaoxin and Qian Keke met up at the train station, holding hands and laughing nonstop with great pleasure.
"Keke~"
"Xiaoxin~"
With the ban on external coaching institutions, Qian Keke was much happier than Tang Xiaoxin, she was only short of setting off firecrackers to celebrate!
Her parents had enrolled her in seven or eight classes, making her holidays even busier than school days, all of which were now canceled.
She had even confided in Tang Xiaoxin before, saying that if her parents planned to find her a private tutor, she would report it herself.
Tang Xiaoxin was genuinely a bit worried for her, scared of her getting caught by her parents and being punished with a mixed doubles beating...
Apart from celebrating the ban on coaching classes, they excitedly discussed the animals they were about to see.
"I wonder if we'll be able to hear the gibbons singing! I heard they sing really well, I'm so looking forward to it."
"Right, has Red Bean given birth yet?"
"I asked Brother Fang Ye yesterday, not yet, but it should be soon!"
"Red panda cubs must be so cute! But if we can't see the red panda cubs, watching the adorable giraffes is also nice!"
"Here comes the bus, let's go!"
Seeing the bus approaching, they hurriedly swiped their cards and boarded.
The two were regulars at the zoo and had accumulated a lot of experience, knowing that animals are more active in the morning, so they made a point of getting up early!
When they arrived at the entrance of Linhai Zoo, the gates were still closed. A sparse crowd of mostly elderly men and women stood at the entrance.
Keen visitors like them, arriving this early, were few and far between!
On the first day of the students' holiday, most were still lying in bed at home sound asleep.
Qian Keke noticed that there seemed to be visitors already strolling around the zoo's square and immediately leaned forward to ask the ticket seller, "Sister, can we go in now?"
The ticket seller yawned lazily, "No! We haven't opened yet."
Tang Xiaoxin also leaned in, puzzled, "Then what's with the people inside?"
The ticket seller said, "They're staying at the hot spring inn! They can come in anytime."
Tang Xiaoxin and Qian Keke opened their eyes wide in surprise, "Eh?!"
The hot spring inn at the zoo was already built! They really didn't know.
Little rich girl Qian Keke immediately exclaimed excitedly, "Can we book the inn now? Hey, Xiaoxin, let's soak in the hot springs after we finish touring the zoo!"
Tang Xiaoxin turned to look at her, "Ah!? To get inside half an hour earlier, you're ready to book an inn? And how do you soak in the hot springs without a swimsuit."
"You need an ID card to stay at the inn!"
The ticket seller reminded, "It's not that we're stopping you from entering, but you wouldn't see much this early, lots of exhibits aren't open yet. Our animal keepers also need time to check the facilities, prepare the feed, and clean up trash and such."
Qian Keke was a bit disappointed, "Oh~"
They had no choice but to keep waiting.
The two decided to go back and talk to their parents about it, urging them to bring them along for a stay at the inn and some hot spring soaking next weekend!
As they waited for the park to open, the crowd at the entrance gradually increased.
As soon as the gates opened, they made a beeline for the gibbon exhibit!
At dawn, the sun had not yet unfurled its scorching radiance, and the sky was a sweeping expanse of azure, dotted with fluffy marshmallows of clouds drifting slowly across.
The cheerful morning light cascaded down, and a cool breeze blew, causing the tender, lush leaves to sway and rustle with a "whoosh whoosh" sound, creating a tranquil and harmonious atmosphere.
Tang Xiaoxin raised her arms, breathing in the fresh scent of the grass and trees with evident pleasure, "Ah, this is what a holiday feels like, it's just wonderful!"
Suddenly, Qian Keke pricked up her ears and tugged at her sleeve, "Xiaoxin, listen! Isn't that the gibbons singing?"
"Hm?"
Tang Xiaoxin halted her steps and listened attentively.
From the direction of Primate Paradise, there came a faint series of long, melodious, and unbroken peculiar calls!
"Oh~~~oh~~~"
The lingering calls, now hidden now visible, carried the mistiness of the mountain fog, and the song seemed to disperse the moisture and sweet fragrance of the rainforest.
The ethereal and clear song, carried by the fresh morning breeze, was like a ray of bright morning sunshine that cut through the night's shadows, ushering in a vibrant new day for the silent forest.
The lofty and melodious tune, like an eagle spreading its wings and soaring high, invigorated the spirit.
Although Tang Xiaoxin had never heard a gibbon's song before, she couldn't help but feel certain, "It must be! Let's hurry over."
The closer they got, the clearer the gibbons' song became!
Passing by Lemur Island, the ring-tailed lemurs were now sitting in a meditative pose on the eastern side of the island, with their hands on their legs basking in the sun.
Normally, the warm sunshine would lull them into drowsiness, and their heads would droop little by little.
However, while basking in the sun, they now kept their eyes wide open, looking intently and spiritedly at the small island across the way.
The environment of this small island was somewhat similar to the macaque exhibit, with plentiful trees and perches, and in the middle, there stood a stone pillar!
Despite the abundance of perches and trees, they were arranged in a well-ordered manner, keeping a certain distance without being too far apart, connected by ladders and ropes, resembling a series of undulating waves, exhibiting an orderly beauty amid chaos.
Between the gaps in the perches, it was clear to see the gibbons moving around.
The hoolock gibbons, with their fluffy black fur, only had dense white eyebrows.
Some have brown fur, but these two in Linhai Zoo were black.
Their eyebrows slanted downward, giving them a look of worry, as if they were so troubled their eyebrows had turned white.
At that moment, one hoolock gibbon with its hook-like hands gripping the rope, stretched its long arms with ease, swinging from the rope like a pendulum from one end to the other.
The other hoolock gibbon, with arms raised beside its body, walked on the tree trunk as if performing a tightrope walk at a circus, occasionally leaping to the opposite trunk—all with a graceful and easy poise.
Such difficult maneuvers appeared effortless and relaxed.
Qian Keke exclaimed in surprise, "Huh, gibbons don't have tails!"
"That's right!"
The two gibbons were active in the exhibit, darting about and all the while singing their melodious song!
"Ah oh~ ah oh~ ah oh oh oh~~~ oh~ oh~"
"Oh~~~~ oh, oh, oh, oh yi~"
Their voices responded to each other, one following the other, weaving high and low notes, as if in dialogue.
The rich and resonant calls gradually softened, like a murmuring stream whispering, the silver pheasant casually searching for food among the fallen leaves, the birds fluttering about the treetops, and the tinkling of a spring.
Suddenly, the pace quickened, like a bleak autumn wind blowing, carrying away the dry leaves and leaving the treetops bare, evoking a sense of sadness and desolation.
Tang Xiaoxin suddenly recalled a familiar poem and couldn't help but recite it, "In Badong, the gorges stretch for Wu, the gibbons call three times, and my tears dampen my clothes!"
