chapter 16
16 – The Brawl
Jihoon entered the auditorium only to come back out within five minutes. In front of him, someone who appeared to be Doyounghwan was leading the way, staggering as he walked. Doyounghwan’s face was literally a bloody mess, and the fact that he could still walk without falling was astounding.
“Is that really Doyounghwan?” Sojeong cautiously asked Jihoon.
“Yeah, he got his jaw wrecked, but I managed to figure out who he is in that mess,” Jihoon replied.
Doyounghwan, despite the pain, held onto his own face and, in astonishment, couldn’t help but gawk at the two hunters lying on the ground, Kim Sungjoo, the team leader, and his subordinate. Doyounghwan had frequently visited Ares Guild, where his father worked, and had memorized the faces of various guild hunters. He was certain that he would join Ares Guild once he graduated from the academy. Therefore, seeing the faces of the two who were now lying on the ground was unbelievable to him.
Kim Sungjoo, a veteran among veterans who had served as a combatant in Ares Guild for seven years, looked like a bomb about to explode with his swollen face. Moreover, the one whimpering next to him was a C-class hunter, a guild member.
“Hey, Kang Jihoon, what the hell…” Jihoon and Doyounghwan’s childhood friend Yoon Jinhee followed them out of the auditorium, shouting, but then she saw the scene and was left speechless.
Just a moment ago, Jihoon had burst into the packed auditorium filled with students from grades 8 to 11 and dragged out Doyounghwan without any explanation.
Jinhee, who was sitting and waiting for the special lecture with the 8th graders, followed them when she saw this scene.
“Who are these people? What have you been up to lately?” Jinhee asked Jihoon, and then she noticed Hahn Sojeong standing next to him.
“Han Sojeong, a 2nd grader?”
“What? Jinhee, you know her too? Were you a famous person?” Jihoon asked, and Sojeong shrugged her shoulders, pretending to be cute, as if she was nothing special.
“How do you know 2nd-grade students, Jihoon?” Jinhee asked.
“Him? I don’t know. He’s just a talkative stalker,” Jihoon replied.
“Hey, Kang Jihoon! Who called you a stalker!”
Watching the two of them chattering, Jini confirms once again that Jihoon is not the person she used to know.
“Um… excuse me.”
Doyounghwan, who had been watching their exchange closely, cautiously speaks up.
“Oh right, you. Call your father right now. And then switch with me.”
Hesitating for a moment at Jihoon’s command, Yeonghwan quickly takes out his phone and makes the call as Jihoon approaches him.
Snatching the phone from him, Jihoon asks, “Is this Yeonghwan?”
“No, he said he’s Kang Jihoon, who your father sent someone to catch.”
“What… What? Where’s Yeonghwan, you bastard!”
“Here, lying down. Send someone to pick him up. The employees from that company you sent are also lying down together.”
Holding the phone, Jihoon approaches Yeonghwan and swiftly punches him lightly in the stomach.
“Sob… sobs…”
Yeonghwan, having been hit, collapses to the ground alongside the two who were already down.
“I’m going to kill you, you bastard. Wait for me.”
“You wait too. You’re Ares Guild, right? I’m coming now, so get ready. Bring confident people, not useless ones like these.”
“What? This crazy son of a b*tch!”
Jihoon throws the phone away.
“What the hell are you talking about going to Ares Guild? Get ready?”
Sojeong’s face is filled with bewilderment.
“Yeah… Jihoon, what’s been going on with you lately? What are you doing?”
Jini also blurts out a worried comment.
At that moment,
“Hey, who are you to keep talking and interfering?”
Sojeong’s icy tone crushes Jini.
Her words are full of disdain, wondering why Jini is trying to mix in another topic.
Jini soon loses her words and looks away from Sojeong, avoiding Jihoon’s gaze.
Jini knows very well that she can’t compete with Sojeong, who is two classes above her in appearance, family background, and hunter level.
She hopes that Jihoon, who has always been loyal to her, will come back to his senses and protect her.
Translation:
“Hey, Kang Jihoon! Who’s calling you a stalker!”
Watching the two of them chattiness, Jini confirms once again that Jihoon is not the person she knew.
“Um… excuse me.”
Seeing them interact, Doyounghwan cautiously speaks up.
“Oh right, you. Call your father immediately. And then switch with me.”
Hesitating momentarily at Jihoon’s command, Yeonghwan quickly takes out his phone and makes the call as Jihoon advances towards him.
Snatching the phone from him, Jihoon asks, “Is this Yeonghwan?”

Holding the phone, Jihoon approaches Yeonghwan and lightly punches him in the stomach.
“Sob… sobs…”
Yeonghwan, having been beaten, collapses to the ground with the already fallen two.
“I’m going to kill you, you bastard. Wait for me.”
“You wait too. You’re Ares Guild, right? I’m coming now, so get prepared. Bring confident people, not these worthless ones.”
“What? This crazy son of a b*tch!”
Jihoon throws away the phone.
“What the hell are you talking about going to Ares Guild? Get prepared?”
Sojeong’s face is filled with bewilderment.
“Yeah… Jihoon, what’s been happening to you lately? What are you doing?”

Jini knows very well that she can’t compete with Sojeong, who is two classes above her in appearance, family background, and hunter level.
She hopes that Jihoon, who has always been loyal to her, will come back to his senses and protect her.
“Why are you scaring me with your words?”
!!
Jinhee’s face brightens up instantly.
Has Jinho come back?
Is it her childhood friend who has always relied on her and is now stepping up for her again?
The next words that turn away the hopeful her.
“Jinhee, go inside and finish the special lecture. I will take care of this stalker.”
“Hey!! I’m not a stalker!!”
It turns out that Jinhee’s presence doesn’t matter at all. The two of them were just playing around without even glancing at her.
Jinho and Sojeong walk away without paying any attention to Jinhee.
Jinhee’s eyes, looking at the three people lying bleeding on the ground.
She feels like she is also bleeding just like them, even though she is standing there unharmed.
To her childhood friend whom she has always bossed around like an underling, she has now become nothing but a presence that can’t even attract any attention.
Deep within her heart, Jinhee feels a longing, regret, and indescribable emotions blossoming.
***
“Why are you following me!! This time, you really can’t follow me.”
Jinho walks towards the H section main gate of the Academy, still unable to separate from Sojeong.
“Do you even know where the Ares Guild is?”
“How would I know? I’ll find out when I go there.”
Sojeong, with arms outstretched, blocks him with an expression that seems like her clothes are about to explode.
“The Ares Guild is a super-sized guild with three A-rank hunters and over twenty B-rank hunters. If you go there like you’re returning something at a department store, you can imagine what will happen.”
Unable to catch a taxi as Sojeong won’t move aside, Jinho turns his steps in a direction that she can’t block, doing his best to lose her.
And then, perhaps seeing her sincere concern in her expression, he starts speaking seriously.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s a super-sized guild or whatever. I can’t just sit by and let them mess with my academy life like this.”
Seeing Jinho’s slightly serious expression, Sojeong vaguely senses that he has some story.
During the few days that she has spent with Jinho, she has come to know that he is genuinely studying about the academy, hunter abilities, and gates.
It’s not about wanting to increase his hunter level to gain fame or defeat many gates to earn a lot of money.
What Jinho wants seems to be a more fundamental problem.
Since he doesn’t seem like he would answer even if she asked him what it is right now, Sojeong decides to watch over him from a close distance for now.
“Do you even know where the Ares Guild is? Is that why you were planning to just get in a taxi and go to the Ares Guild?”
Dduggeum
“…”
Jihun was speechless at Sojeong’s remark.
“Well, it’s a famous place, so the taxi driver should be able to find it on his own. It’ll cost around 150,000 won, right?”
Jihun hastily put his hand into his back pocket, took out his wallet, and checked it.
“…It’s not Seoul?”
“It’s Seoul? You need a huge training ground to build a virtual gate and it requires a wide area of land.”
“…Can you lend me some money?”
“No way.”
Jihun’s shoulders slumped.
“Let’s go in my car. But you have to come with me.”
“You have a car?”
“My dad is the guild representative. I’m also an Academy Class 2, so I receive a lot of support funds.”
“The Beautiful Guild…right?”
“What’s wrong with Beautiful!!! Our guild is a rising star, even though we’re newcomers and an elite minority!!”
Sojeong exclaimed proudly.
It seemed clear that she had a complex about the guild name.
***
After driving for quite some time in Sojeong’s car, the two arrived in front of the Ares Guild.
There were no security guards or barriers blocking the long internal road leading to the headquarters building.
Confidence that anyone could come in.
A guild itself was a powerful force.
If such a powerful force was strict about security, that would be even stranger.
Whether it was a thief or a Black Hunter, the message was to come in if you were confident enough.
Sojeong’s car stopped right in front of the headquarters building.
Jihun got out of the car.
“Thanks for the ride.”
“Why are you thanking me for a ride when we’re going together?”
“No, you should go back from here whenever possible.”
“Hey!! That’s not what we agreed on, you know-“
Hwooong.
Jihun’s body, after getting off the car, floats and flies towards the revolving door of the building.
Clang.
Crash.
In each page containing his inner power, everything from the front gate of the building to the statue of the founder of the guild standing in front is being shattered and destroyed, leaving nothing intact.
“That… that crazy bastard…”
Those words continuously burst out from Sojeong’s mouth as she looks at Jihun.
