Then, let’s talk about the price
- Alma Pov -
I was reminded of what the boy with the white hair said a few days ago, and the more days I live in this place, the more eager I am to leave this place behind me.
'In the end, it's all that cursed girl's fault. If only she hadn't been born, my life as a mistress would have continued without anyone noticing, and I'm sure Rod would always love me.'
'but look now, after that girl was born, Rod is no longer what he used to be, and I'm sure that one thing will definitely happen to me.'
"die... yes... I'm going to die, isn't that obvious... fuck... all of this is because of that girl... if only I can abort her at that time..."
"hahahahaha... but what else can I do..." After working through enough of my feelings to myself, I gradually started to feel better. My breath, which had been erratic before, returned to its normal, calm state.
My eyes also lost their light again when I returned to reading the book in my hand, accompanied by the cool breeze that had just been blowing toward me.
"Can I trust that boy?"
"But, the pendant he brought back was real, and I'm sure that kid is indeed from the Order of the Walls organization, which is famous for its craziness, because there's no way he could be close to Historia like that."
At the very least, I have a glimmer of hope to live, and I will find out in the future whether or not that kid was making up all of his bullshit or he was telling the truth...
"Hey, Alma," I suddenly heard a slightly familiar voice in my ears, and when I lazily raised my head, my eyebrows rose in slight surprise.
'Finally the little devil I was just talking about is here, huh?,' I thought to myself, and for some unexplainable reason, seeing those peculiar red eyes caused my entire body to shake slightly.
But I tried not to give him any ideas, so I did what I always do and just stared at him for a while before asking, "Do you still want to convince me of that promise?"
I could sense the mockery in the boy's voice as he said, "Yes, I do feel sorry for your unfortunate fate at the end of your pitiful life, so I'd like to give you a choice." Still, despite this, his icy gaze continued to look directly at me without showing any sign of emotion.
Even though I was feeling somewhat emotional about his jerk's attitude, which annoyed me, in the end, I refrained from expressing my emotions and instead asked flatly, "Did you bring more evidence than the pendant at that time?"
"Her presence can strengthen your faith in me, right?" This boy then turned to his side and, only this time, I finally realized that he had not come alone because, beside him, there was already a woman dressed like a nun wearing a long black robe with a gold ornament around her neck.
"Are you from Order of the Walls?" I asked her about it, and she responded right away with a friendly smile on her face, "hey Alma, Kaiser already told me about you, and I agreed to help you get out of your unfortunate end." I was a little dubious about her response, but I decided to go along with it anyway.
"And how are you going to go about accomplishing that?"
"We can talk about it there," the boy pointed at the ranch not far from here, but before I could say anything else, he was already walking away, and the nun was right behind him.
'fuck... what the hell am I supposed to do... do I have to believe them... but I don't want to die just yet...' Many dilemmas kept popping up in my head, but in the end, I took a deep breath and stood up.
In the end, I took a step forward and started to follow behind the two of them. Luckily, the obnoxious old woman was also about to tidy up and intended to go home.
I whispered to myself while glaring at the elderly woman, "Watch it. If this old lady is trying to eavesdrop, I'll kill her before she can report it to Rod," and when she saw me, she looked scared and hurriedly left the place.
As soon as I stepped foot inside this relatively dark ranch, I continued where I had left off with my earlier question, "so, what are your plans to get me out of this situation?"
"simple, as you are aware, the Order of the Walls organization is very close to Rod Reiss. Therefore, I can ask the organization's higher-ups to make changes on your behalf."
I must admit that I was a little taken aback when I listened to the explanation that this boy with white hair provided. However, his response did not satisfy me completely, which is why I questioned him again.
"Humph, I don't see how a young, inexperienced brat like you could possibly have the authority to do something like that. Even if you are a member of that organization, I bet you still can't do shit!"
After I was satisfied returning the taunt that this brat gave me earlier, all of a sudden, I got a bad feeling.
Shortly after that, I could feel a cold object pressed against my neck, accompanied by a woman's cold voice from behind me, "watch your mouth. Otherwise, I will cut your throat here and now. Do you get it!!!"
I was conscious of the fact that a sharp knife had been pressed into my neck and was poised to sever my skin, and the woman's voice, I'm sure, came from the nun earlier.
I was too terrified to speak, so all I could do was weakly nod my head. At that moment, the boy with the white hair in front of me said, "Then, let's talk about the price."
