I Flirted with the General in the Zerg Empire [Interstellar]

Ch 20

The Insistent Officer

“Your Excellency He Yi, please consider me.”

“I’ve already transferred my military registration to the Third Corps, the same as General Zhao. There’s no conflict of interest, and we would get along harmoniously. Plus, my assets are among the top in the group of lieutenant generals.”

“I also follow all the protocols I learned at the Male Protection Association. Marrying me will not only ensure your privileged lifestyle continues, but you’ll also enjoy the company of someone younger and more obedient—”

“Stop!” He Yi scowled as he accepted the beautifully packaged gift from the military officer across from him, his tone icy. “I’ll take the gift, but there’s no need to say more. You can return to the Male Protection Association and report back.”

“Your Excellency, I have no intention of competing with General Zhao for the role of your guiding servant. With a double S-class guide like the general, your evolution will be perfect. I only ask to be your second servant after you come of age, and I can wait—”

“I don’t need you to wait! Forget it!” He Yi frowned, interrupting the lieutenant general’s incessant speech, raising his voice in anger as he ordered the officer to leave:

“Lieutenant General Yi, take your leave. I won’t see you off!”

Anyone who tries to come between him and Ah Zhao is the enemy!

And enemies must be dealt with swiftly, like autumn leaves swept away by the wind—mercilessly!

But Lieutenant General Yi was not willing to give up so easily. For the past few days following the military officer’s banquet, his brother, General Luo, had been working tirelessly to secure numerous benefits and promises just to get his military registration transferred to the Third Corps. He himself had humbled and pleaded with President Howard of the Male Protection Association to get this mid-month visit with the male.

Facing the male’s fury, he dropped to his knees, unbuttoning his shirt one by one with deliberate submissiveness, his voice suddenly turning sweet and coquettish: “Your Excellency, you could try me first and then reject me if you’re still not satisfied~”

He Yi was furious.

How could there be such a shameless Zerg?!

Can’t understand Zerg language?

Fuming, he threw the gift box onto the coffee table, opened his communicator, and his voice turned chilling:

“Lieutenant General Yi, what do you think will happen if I report to President Howard that you disrespected a male and attempted to assault me?”

Lieutenant General Yi froze, looking up in shock, trying to find some hint of a joke in the male’s eyes.

But there was none.

In the male’s eyes, there was only a terrifying, sinister anger.

Lieutenant General Yi lowered himself, panicking as he kowtowed and pleaded: “Your Excellency, please don’t tell the president. I’ll leave, I’ll go right away.” He knew all too well how cruel the president could be, and he didn’t want, nor did he dare, to find out firsthand.

“Get out.”

He Yi turned his back, coldly commanding.

This “strictly governed” male Zerg from Huaxia treated other Zergs as ruthlessly as a bitter winter!

Lieutenant General Yi scrambled to his feet, dejectedly buttoning his shirt. He knew how gentle the male had been at the banquet, but now he didn’t dare gamble on how merciless the male could be at this moment.

With his hopes dashed, he unwillingly, step by step, left the villa, casting longing glances back with every step.

After the bothersome Zerg left, He Yi collapsed lifelessly onto the sofa.

Now, he finally understood—female Zergs of the Zerg race all had serious issues!

—They were desperate to marry!!

He thought about how unique his Ah Zhao was, standing out from the crowd—having rejected countless match proposals from other Zergs.

Today was yet another day of loving Ah Zhao even more.

After all that commotion, he had lost any excitement for the high-class male offering. It wasn’t until noon that he sluggishly opened the gift box on the coffee table.

Inside the box were two smaller boxes, one large and one small: a durian fruit box and a lemon fruit box.

He wasn’t interested in the lemon fruit. As for the durian, he decided to eat half to taste it and save the other half for Ah Zhao to enjoy when he came back in the evening.

The soft flesh of the fruit melted in his mouth, lifting his spirits slightly. Back during the apocalypse, he only thought durian tasted good, but now he could sense faint white gas floating within its body, brimming with green wood-element energy. He cautiously tried to gather the gas with his wood energy.

The more he gathered, the more gas there was, and his consciousness began to blur. In the end, a cloud of white mist surged toward his Zerg core, too quickly for him to stop it.

In the last second before he lost consciousness, one thought echoed in his mind:

—Was today his unlucky day?!

*

Today was destined to be a special day.

At lunchtime, General Zhao was forcibly taken away from the military headquarters. This was due to the highest-level “arrest warrant” issued by the Male Protection Association.

A total of fifteen patrol warships from the Pasor Star’s A District, along with 150 A or S-level police Zergs, swarmed in after the lead officer presented the warrant. They quickly surrounded General Zhao at the military headquarters.

The entire military was in an uproar.

What crime had General Zhao committed?!

Still holding half a bottle of nutritional liquid, Zhao stared in shock at the aggressive police Zergs closing in on him. One of them informed him:

“Your male lord has fallen into a coma and is currently at the First Affiliated Hospital of the Imperial Military Medical University. You are suspected of negligence in your guardianship and the attempted murder of an underage male.”

Who could it be? Who would dare attempt to murder his male lord?!

The Federation? Political enemies? One suspicious Zerg after another flashed through his mind—this one could be responsible, that one could too… anyone could be! Who was it?!

A cold, terrifying storm brewed in his icy blue eyes.

“General Zhao, my apologies.” As soon as the officer finished speaking, they stepped forward to confiscate all items from the suspect Zerg except his clothes, including but not limited to his spatial ring and communicator.

Zhao stood in a daze, allowing the police Zergs to do their job.

The next moment, he snapped out of it and urgently said, “I need to go to the hospital and see the male lord first.”

“Sorry, that’s not allowed,” the officer replied firmly.

Zhao immediately became guarded, scanning the surrounding officers with a sharp gaze, and repeated his demand, “I want to see the male lord.”

“Sorry, that’s against the rules,” the officer refused again.

Without hesitation, Zhao spread his wings and entered a combat-ready stance. To hell with the Male Protection Association, the arrest warrant, and the rules—none of it mattered anymore!

Right now, he only wanted to see the male lord!!

His gentle, lovely male lord was in an uncertain condition.

Was the male lord sick? Injured? Or had he been poisoned by some Zerg? How serious was it? Was he bleeding?

Just the thought of his male lord lying pale on a hospital bed was like a knife twisting in his heart.

How could he be at peace without seeing for himself?

Seeing the suspect Zerg resisting and on the verge of attacking, the police Zergs all unfolded their wings and surrounded General Zhao in a formation that looked like a massive cage enveloping the entrance to the military canteen.

Marshal Sen hurried to the scene.

“Zhao! Don’t do anything rash!”

His expression was grim as he shouted, “I’ll personally check on His Excellency He Yi for you. Don’t do anything foolish!”

Zhao remained silent.

Marshal Sen raised his voice with a stern tone, “Do you want to be abandoned by His Excellency He Yi when he wakes up?”

That sentence hit Zhao like a wake-up call.

He quickly regained some of his senses, withdrew his wings, and in a hoarse voice, said, “Thank you. Please take care of him.”

He couldn’t afford to lose the right to stay by his male lord’s side.

The Male Protection Association.

Over an hour after Zhao’s arrest, Cape stood at the door of the interrogation room. Looking inside, there was only endless darkness; the vast interrogation room was engulfed in an oppressive, stifling night.

At Lan’s request, Cape didn’t go to the visitation room but directly to the interrogation room. Because any Zerg that entered the Male Protection Association would suffer, even if they didn’t die. If Cape had chosen to visit in the visitation room, General Zhao, who had just endured punishment, would have been roughly dragged over from the interrogation room, further aggravating his injuries.

Cape activated his communicator and dialed a video call. On the screen appeared a beautiful face with red hair and red eyes—his anxious female servant waiting for news. A faint smile tugged at his lips: “Lan, I’m at the door of the interrogation room.”

Cape turned on the smart light by the door, and the path ahead was suddenly illuminated by the simulated incandescent light.

However, when they reached Interrogation Room W1092, Cape and the accompanying interrogation officers did not see General Zhao lying miserably in bed after enduring one hundred lashes of the electric whip. Instead, they witnessed a bloody scene of punishment.

… Something was off.

Newly apprehended Zergs at the Male Protection Association were supposed to be punished immediately. Since when had they become so merciful, waiting more than a full star hour before taking action?

Before Cape could make sense of it, the voice of Lan from the other side of his communicator erupted in rage: “General Zhao! Are you insane?!”

“A hundred lashes weren’t enough for you? Are you rushing to your death?!”

“Stop! For God’s sake, stop right now!!”

Cape’s hand trembled, startled by the ear-piercing roar. Oh no, Lan was really scary!

The interrogation officers, however, showed no hesitation, continuing to swing the electric whip with emotionless expressions. Over the next few star minutes, Lan kept shouting furiously, while Cape, unable to bear watching the blood-splattering punishment, turned away and secretly admired the furious yet beautiful female Zerg servant on his screen.

Cape thought to himself: *My female servant is indeed stunning, though a bit prickly.*

Zhao bit his lip hard, his claws digging deep into his palm. He had to stay conscious—conscious enough to endure this additional hundred lashes. This was the price he had to pay for applying for “bail pending trial.”

Bail pending trial—if a high-ranking male Zerg was willing to act as a guarantor for the suspect Zerg and pay the bail while providing a written assurance that the suspect would not flee or obstruct the investigation, the suspect would be granted a certain amount of freedom.

Just moments ago, Zhao had learned from Marshal Sen that his male lord had fallen into a coma due to an early fourth-level evolution. If Zhao didn’t reach him soon, the role of guiding attendant would undoubtedly be taken by another Zerg.

When the interrogation officer informed him that His Excellency Cape had come to visit, Zhao knew his chance had come. If he endured another hundred lashes, he could leave the Male Protection Association under Cape’s guarantee and go to the hospital to be by his male lord’s side.

Clearly, Lan was furious because he had realized Zhao’s intention.

Before long, relying on the unbreakable willpower forged on the battlefield, Zhao gritted his teeth and endured the excruciating punishment.

Lan, glaring at Zhao’s pale and bloodless face, roared, “Why put yourself through this? Why not wait quietly until His Excellency He Yi wakes up to clear your name?! Is the position of guiding attendant really that important?!”

“It is,” Zhao gasped, propping himself up against the interrogation table, struggling to maintain a standing posture. After catching his breath, he looked up at Cape. “Your Excellency Cape, please, help me apply for bail pending trial.”

“Of course, it’s no trouble,” Cape agreed without hesitation.

Lan, enraged by Zhao’s stubbornness and willingness to suffer, yelled, “I forbid it!!” Then, he abruptly cut off the video call.

Cape, now left staring at the empty screen, was stunned for two star seconds. He thought to himself: *General Zhao has already endured this punishment. If I don’t help him with the bail, isn’t that a bit cruel?*

Considering himself an “honorable and loyal Zerg,” Cape covered his face with one hand and, through his fingers, snuck a glance at the tragically battered General Zhao.

Sigh, Lan is way too capricious.

He was definitely putting his poor Fat Tiger in a tough spot!
