Ch 16
The Love-Struck Zerg
He Yi’s expression was one of shock and numbness. To Zhao, it appeared as extreme dissatisfaction with him, leaving Zhao in a state of panic. He wanted to apologize but didn’t even know what he had done wrong. Watching the cold back of the male Zerg, Zhao’s body reacted faster than his mind.
He stepped forward to block He Yi.
All the female Zergs in the restaurant who witnessed this scene were extremely anxious for him. They had all recognized General Zhao. Although He Yi’s disguise was successful, General Zhao’s face was unmistakable. The legendary “Light of the Empire” was known even to the youngest cub.
As a result, the female Zergs were both worried that General Zhao might provoke the wrath of Lord He Yi and blamed him for acting so rashly and without proper etiquette.
“My lord, I was wrong… I was wrong, I…” If not for remembering the lord’s rule against kneeling, he would have already dropped to the floor to beg for forgiveness.
Looking at the female Zerg in front of him, anxiously repeating his apologies, He Yi’s heart melted completely. He took the Zerg’s hand, damp with sweat from excessive nervousness, and gently kissed the warm, dry back of it, soothing him with a soft voice: “It’s not your fault. Come on, we still have a movie to catch.”
How could Zhao possibly be at fault?
The one at fault was He Yi himself, for being out of place in this world.
For the past while, he had stayed holed up in his villa, barely stepping outside, learning about this world and the Zerg society only through the virtual network. Now, facing the harsh reality of the Zerg’s male-dominated society, the last shred of hope within him was brutally stripped away.
He really couldn’t go back. This was an entirely new world, a universe without zombies, without human bases.
He thought he was fortunate. Despite the shock of being in this world that defied all his previous beliefs, his heart was not lonely, because he had been given the greatest gift from heaven—a partner who could accompany him for life: Zhao.
He Yi paused in his steps, reached out to tuck the strands of hair at Zhao’s forehead behind his ear, and smiled brightly, “Don’t worry, I’m not mad at you. Are you hungry? Let’s go to the supermarket to get some energy bars and nutrient fluids. You haven’t had dinner yet.”
Zhao, who had been wound up tightly, relaxed. In a blink, he was lost in the dazzling smile of the handsome lord, responding dully, “Mm, okay.”
The female Zergs in the restaurant were astonished at how unexpectedly good-tempered Lord He Yi was. At the same time, they couldn’t help but marvel: General Zhao truly lived up to his reputation as the Light of the Empire, with a charm that no other Zerg could match! With just a few words, he had managed to coax the lord into a cheerful mood, making this a perfect example of how to please a male Zerg.
They had to take notes on such precious lessons and study hard! It’s unclear who dared to record everything that happened in the restaurant from start to finish and upload it to the Star Network, gaining a significant amount of attention. This secretly recorded video would later become one of the valuable historical materials studied by the citizens of the Empire, detailing the loving daily interactions between the young Male Zerg and the Light of the Empire.
It was only later that He Yi learned that ordinary restaurants outside didn’t emphasize the male Zerg’s superiority and the female Zerg’s inferiority as much as couples’ restaurants did. At the very least, there were always seats available. It was only on rare occasions that a couple of female Zergs being punished by their male counterparts would have to kneel.
The so-called “couples’ restaurant” is a place specifically designed for female Zergs to fawn over and flatter male Zergs.
There, the female Zergs pamper and revere the male Zergs, lowering themselves as much as possible to protect the delicate and fragile self-esteem of the exalted male Zergs. All of this is done to stand out among thousands of female Zergs and win the favor of a male Zerg, so that they might lay eggs.
Reproduction is the most primal instinct embedded in the genes of female Zergs, a mission that flows in their blood.
For instance, right now, He Yi is sitting in the male Zergs’ waiting area outside the movie theater, attentively watching his Zhao, who is eagerly standing in line with other female Zergs in the snack section, all to please their desired male Zergs.
He Yi thought to himself: What a sweet dilemma.
“Lord, I’ve got your large cola with extra ice and caramel-flavored popcorn,” Zhao strode over, opening his palm to reveal a small space storage button.
He discreetly glanced at the male Zerg’s expression, tentatively saying, “I… also bought some other snacks for variety. If you don’t like them…”
At this point, he lowers his eyes and bites his lip. Will the lord blame him for making decisions on his own?
He Yi pretended not to notice the small actions of the female Zerg and responded with a smile, “Mm, well, thank you for your thoughtfulness, Zhao. I’m very pleased.”
The ice-blue eyes of the female Zerg slowly brightened.
He Yi squinted: It seems… female Zergs should be pampered more.
This time, He Yi chose the movie, which starred the sub-female superstar Rock. It’s a Zerg love blockbuster filled with scenes of broken engagements, face-slapping, doppelgänger white moonlight, and toxic relationships. The reviews were excellent.
Movies, as a part of ancient Zerg culture, have not been lost in the tides of history. The film industry has flourished, and with the advancement of technology, cinemas have kept up with the times, enhancing the viewing experience for the Zerg people in every way.
He Yi took this trip to the cinema very seriously. He thoroughly studied many movie-watching tips, preparing himself fully.
Just as he was holding Zhao’s hand and heading toward the screening room, a voice called out from behind, “General Zhao, Lord He Yi, what a coincidence!”
It was Phoebe.
The same baby-faced guy who had secretly taken photos but refused to add him as a friend.
The proud He Yi didn’t want to engage.
In truth, Phoebe was innocent; he had just selected the option to reject friend requests from strangers.
The innocent Phoebe enthusiastically approached, “It’s nice to see you two again. Which movie did you choose? Is it the one with the highest rating, Deep Love of the Substitute?”
He Yi gave a noncommittal “Mm.” He had no intention of chatting further.
The sub-female beside Phoebe, who was all charming and coy, stepped forward to greet them, “San Cha greets Your Highness, greets General Zhao.”
Whether they were sub-female attendants, female slaves, or female lords, any married female Zerg without a high military rank would greet an S-class male lord as a sign of respect.
He Yi nodded, “No need for formalities.”
His gaze lingered on the sub-female’s face for a moment. This was the first time he had seen such a flirtatious sub-female on Zerg Star. Wasn’t Phoebe’s female servant Star Officer Ze?
Noticing that He Yi seemed interested in San Cha, Phoebe affectionately pulled the sub-female closer, “Let me introduce you, this is San Cha, my seventh female servant.”
“What do you think? Shall we hang out together sometime?”
“Cha Cha, would you be willing?” Phoebe asked, tilting his head to look at the sub-female in his arms.
“Oh, you’re so naughty, my lord~” San Cha blushed and coyly nodded.
Phoebe laughed heartily in satisfaction.
He Yi, not fully understanding, only felt a bit uncomfortable, even getting goosebumps. He frowned but didn’t say anything.
Zhao, however, understood. Phoebe was suggesting that this charming sub-female serve He Yi. And that shameless Cha Cha actually agreed. — How daring!!
Zhao: His fists tightened.
But he had no position to stop it. If a male Zerg fancied a married female, all that was needed was the consent of the female and the male lord to initiate a brief affair. This would earn admiration, not criticism, from others.
But… this was his lord.
Why, why… should he give him to another Zerg?!
He hadn’t even received a drop of affection from his male lord yet, and this little white flower who had made Star Officer Ze suffer multiple times dared to steal him openly!
Zhao was unusually angry.
He Yi’s mental strength caught a hint of Zhao’s emotions. Although he didn’t understand, he turned to Phoebe and declined, “No, we don’t have time. We’re going in now. See you later.” Saying this, he pulled Zhao and turned to leave.
He Yi’s inner monologue: We’re on a date, don’t interrupt!
“Hey, hey, hey, wait for me, Lord He Yi, I have something important to tell you.”
The rejected Phoebe quickly caught up, “Did you receive the invitation to the Military Female Banquet?”
Forced to stop, He Yi felt a bit impatient with this bright, intrusive third wheel who kept interrupting his date. “What about it?”
“The annual Military Female Banquet. General Zhao didn’t tell you about it, did he? He probably doesn’t want you to go~” Phoebe had a look on his face that said, I knew it, now you can thank me.
He Yi was utterly perplexed—what was the point of him, a male, attending the Military Female Banquet?
Zhao secretly shot a glare at the meddlesome Phoebe, then hurriedly explained, “My lord, I didn’t— I just… just hadn’t had the chance to tell you yet.” He looked at He Yi with anxiety.
The Military Female Banquet was attended by high-ranking military females, their male lords, and several S-class male lords. Essentially, it was a matchmaking event disguised as a power and status negotiation. Yes, he didn’t want his lord to attend the banquet. But it wasn’t that he had the guts to prevent it; he was just trying to delay telling him for a few days.
Unexpectedly, his hidden thoughts were exposed by Phoebe right on the spot.
He was really unlucky.
Running into Phoebe, this trouble-stirring, iron-headed fool.
He Yi didn’t care at all about Zhao’s small deception. “It’s no big deal. Just give me the invitation later.”
He then looked at Phoebe with a mix of resignation and exasperation, “I already know about the banquet. Anything else? If not, we’re leaving.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he grabbed Zhao and, like avoiding a plague, quickly led him into the screening room.
This left Phoebe and San Cha standing there, staring at each other in confusion.
Screening Room No. 6, a double seat.
Crunch, crunch.
He Yi chewed on popcorn, looking around. The screening room had not only double seats and triple seats, but the most common were eight-seat rows. Regardless of the seating type, they were all soundproofed and could be converted into private boxes, blocking outside views when necessary.
Why block the outside view? He Yi thought: He gets it, he really gets it.
Crunch, crunch… cough, cough… cough, cough, cough. He managed to choke on his popcorn.
“My lord, slow down. Have some water first,” Zhao handed him a bottle of water, worry etched on his face as he patted He Yi’s back. He secretly decided to file a complaint about this shop’s low-quality popcorn.
Popcorn: … endured what it shouldn’t have endured.
After gulping down several mouthfuls of water, He Yi, having recovered, shook off the colorful, inappropriate thoughts in his head and sat up straight.
The movie started. On screen, the S-class male lead met a beautiful E-class sub-female at a banquet, fell in love at first sight, confessed his feelings, and the two quickly fell into a sweet romance…
He Yi watched intently. As he watched, he thought: Hmm… this confession is good, note it down. Hmm… this kissing posture is nice, note it down. Hmm… this move is quite seductive, note it down.
In Zhao’s eyes, He Yi seemed completely captivated by the beautiful sub-female lead. He watched as the male Zerg nodded, his eyes narrowed in pleasure, as if deep in thought.
Zhao thought to himself: If he’s not smitten with that sub-female, then I’ll drink my cola upside down!
He exhaled deeply, then picked up a piece of popcorn from the snack tray in the center of the seats and held it up to He Yi’s mouth with a bright smile, “My lord, how do you think this sub-female’s acting is?”
Inwardly, Zhao’s little inner Zerg was gearing up to kick over a jar of vinegar (got jealous).
He Yi opened his mouth and took the popcorn.
As he chewed, he said, “The acting is excellent, the emotions are spot on.” His eyes were still fixed on the screen, not blinking as the main characters kissed passionately.
Zhao thought: Great, the vinegar jar is overturned?
