Chapter 9: Chapter 9- Lucius and Nathan vs Finn Pirates
The air crackled around me, my body humming with power as I stood over Finn and his pirates. The wind whipped around me, responding to my every thought, every movement. The Kaze Kaze no Mi—the Devil Fruit that had just changed everything though it seemes a bit hard for me to control it but I was getting a grasp of it.
Finn, seething with rage, slowly rose to his feet, wiping blood from his lip. He glared at me, eyes filled with venom. "You brat! You're gonna regret that."
Before I could respond, Nathan's voice broke through the tension. "You've got this covered, right, kid?"
I looked at him, still shaking off the taste of the Devil Fruit. "I think I just got started."
Finn's pirates, clearly rattled by the sudden change in the tide, readied their weapons, but Finn raised his hand, stopping them.
"Get back. We're not dealing with this kid just yet."
My eyes locked with Finn's, and the wind seemed to pick up, swirling around me like a storm. My body felt lighter, faster, more powerful. I was still adjusting to the feeling, but I could already sense the wind bending to my will.
Suddenly, a loud voice cut through the chaos. "Lucius!" Nathan shouted, breaking my focus. "Get your Marine buddy out of here, or we'll have a bigger mess on our hands!"
My heart sank when I looked back at Jiro, still lying on the ground, bloodied and barely conscious. I clenched my fists. "You're right."
Without hesitating, I summoned the wind around me, forming a gust powerful enough to lift Jiro's body. He floated just off the ground, a shield of wind supporting him as I dashed across the arena. Nathan's voice faded into the background as I made my way to the edge of the stage, where the arena's exit waited.
"Don't die on me, Jiro," I muttered under my breath, my hand glowing with a soft breeze that guided us swiftly.
Nathan's voice echoed in the distance, taunting Finn. "You think you've got a chance with a bunch of amateurs? Let's see how you handle the wind when it's not on your side!"
I didn't pay attention to the ensuing chaos as I rushed Jiro to safety. The wind made the journey easier, moving us with incredible speed. Once I reached a small, hidden alley away from the main battlefield, I placed Jiro gently on the ground. He groaned, barely conscious, and I kneeled next to him, quickly scanning for any signs of life-threatening injuries.
A moment later, I heard Nathan's voice again, growing fainter. "Finish this already, kid!"
I turned back toward the sounds of the fight. The wind swirled around me as I stood up, feeling the power of the Kaze Kaze no Mi course through my body.
Back on the battlefield, Nathan was in his zone. His gunshots rang out, piercing the air as he danced around Finn's men with ease. Each shot was a calculated strike, hitting with deadly precision, but Finn's crew was resilient, the sheer chaos of their numbers pushing back against Nathan's fire.
But I didn't have time to watch Nathan's performance for long. I was already on the move.
I summoned a gust beneath my feet, propelling myself forward with incredible speed. I dashed into the fray, my feet barely touching the ground as I closed the distance between me and Finn. The wind howled at my command, swirling around me in violent gusts.
Finn's eyes widened as I closed in on him, his arrogance faltering for just a moment. "What—how the hell are you moving so fast?!"
Without warning, I extended my hand toward him. "Kaze Kaze no mi: Gale Strike!"
A massive, concentrated burst of wind shot from my palm, striking Finn with the force of a sledgehammer. He was sent flying backward, crashing into several of his men, knocking them out cold in a single blow.
The wind continued to whip around me, and I took advantage of the chaos, moving with fluid precision. Each wave of wind I created seemed to have its own will, pushing and pulling Finn's crew in all directions. They staggered and struggled, completely at the mercy of the storm I commanded.
Nathan, with pistol out, fired another shot, this time taking down one of Finn's top lieutenants. "Alright, kid, I'd say you're ready for the real fight now."
Finn, battered but still defiant, stood up, blood dripping from his lip. "You think you've won? This is just the beginning!"
With a roar, he swung his sword, the blade cutting through the air with deadly speed. But the wind answered before I could blink. I raised my hand, and the gusts I summoned caught Finn's sword mid-swing, knocking it out of his hand and sending it spinning away.
"Not today," I said, grinning.
The pirates, now in full retreat, scrambled to regroup, but Nathan and I didn't give them a chance. With a combined effort of bullets and wind, we quickly overpowered the remaining pirates, their resolve crumbling as they realized they were fighting a losing battle.
Finn's rage reached a fever pitch. "You little—!"
With one last, desperate swing of his fist, Finn tried to charge at me, but the wind howled once more, lifting him off his feet and sending him tumbling backward. He crashed into the ground with a sickening thud, knocked out cold.
I stood over him, panting, my body humming with power. Nathan, equally tired but still grinning, wiped his forehead. "That was one hell of a fight, kid."
Before I could reply, a loud horn sounded from across the island. I had taken jiro with me to the local hospital as people who were hiding came out.
Third POV
The arrival of the Marine ship was swift. Captain Kenny and his crew stormed onto the battlefield, immediately locking eyes with Finn's downed form. The sight of the pirates, beaten and battered, confirmed what they already knew: the battle was over.
Nathan approached them, leaning on his gun. "Yeah, these guys are all yours. Just make sure to lock up Finn and his boys good."
Captain Kenny then turned to his crew. "Take the pirates in. We'll sort them out at the base."
"It seems you took care of this one, Nathan "The Hitman."" Kenny said as Nathan sighed and shook his head.
"Not me, a kid named lucius with the wind wind devil fruit got the job I just assisted him." Nathan said as Kenny raised an eyebrow.
"Logia?" he asked as nathan nodded before leaving as he said, "You might wanna recruit him captain, he's a catch." As kenny watched the gunman walk away.
I blinked, surprised by the offer. "Join the Marines?"
Nathan chuckled from behind me. "Good luck with that one, kid. It's a tough life, but it's a damn good cause."
I turned away, my mind racing. The idea of joining the Marines wasn't something I had ever considered—too many years spent in the wrong company. But now? I wasn't so sure.
Lucius sat beside Jiro in a local hospital, watching over him as the doctors worked to patch him up. His wounds were serious, but nothing fatal. I sat in the quiet, the weight of the day finally settling in.
The room was silent, except for the occasional beep of the machines keeping track of Jiro's vitals. My eyes grew heavy, and before he realized it, lucius had drifted off to sleep.
A few hours later, he woke up to the sound of Jiro's weak voice. Lucius blinked, realizing he had fallen asleep in the chair beside jiro. Who smiled weakly, his eyes flickering open as he looked at me. "You're still here, huh?"
I rubbed my eyes, half-smiling. "Of course. You think I'd leave you to fend for yourself?"
Jiro chuckled softly, his voice hoarse.
"You've got a good heart, Lucius."
I smiled before Bananas came inside the room and sat on top of my shoulder before throwing a banana peel at jiro with a grin as jiro had a tick mark.
"I hate this monkey." He said as I chuckled alongside bananas before someone walked in, a tall man, with dark long hair, wearing the marine coat as he saluted at jiro who smiled at him.
"Kenny? It's been awhile." Jiro said as Kenny nodded with a smile.
"Seems like you're in a bad state old man." Kenny said as jiro snorted.
"Hmph, I'm still 78." Jiro said as I deadpanned, you're still old, geezer.
Kenny chuckled as he looked at me.
"You must be lucius? the one with the logia devil fruit?" He asked as I nodded as he put his hand forward.
"It's nice to meet you, I'm captain kenny of the 90th Marine Branch." He said as I shook his hand immediately.
"I'm lucius, nice to meet you as well." I said as he smiled, before looking at dead straight in the eyes.
"Think about joining the Marines. We could use someone like you."
I blinked, surprised by the offer. "Join the Marines?" Jiro chuckled from behind as I looked at him, he smiled and nodded.
I sighed, the lie I told him is turning to a reality, I smiled and nodded.
"Please take care of me!" I said saluting as he nodded with a smile.
"I'll see you at the dock tomorrow morning. Be ready and pack your stuff." He said and left as I saluted again. Before jiro spoke.
"Congratulations kid. Don't make my training go to vain." He said as I nodded.
"I know old man, I won't." I said with a smile as he smiled turned sideways, facing his back on me.
"Guess this is goodbye kid. Eat well and don't get sick on the sea." He said with a soft voice as my eyes widened before the memories of staying here for the past two months with jiro, the people, bananas flashed through my mind as tears welled up in my eyes, i then turned around to leave through the door.
"Yeah.... Thanks for everything jiro. Take care of yourself." I said and left the silent room with tears.
To be continued.....
Well with this the first volume is done. I hope you liked it. It's first time writing so hope it was somewhat decent. Not much of canon characters were introduced in this volume, I don't think there will be in the second volume as well, if there was maybe few.
