Chapter 13.2
Stage 1-13. Nobles And Commoners
“Ouga-oniichan, you’re amazing!!”
“Next, me! I wanna do it too!”
“Ah, that’s unfair! I want to do it too! I want to do that flying thing!”
“Fwahahaha! I’ll do it as much as you want! And then, praise me even more!”
The children’s laughter echoed through the living room, joined by Vellet-sama.
Vellet-sama lifted a child and tossed them into the air just enough so they wouldn’t hit the ceiling before catching them.
“Hehe…”
How long has it been?
Since I last saw the children having so much fun.
Ever since this orphanage’s land became a target, every day was filled with fear of angry voices.
I, with my lack of strength, was on the verge of losing everything.
I’m so glad I decided to contact an old friend, betting on that slim chance.
“…Vellet-sama.”
The ‘savior’ who rescued us all…
Alice wasn’t wrong.
He’s pouring so much love into the children.
“Whew… It’s been a while, so it was hard to gauge my strength.”
“Welcome back. Here, a towel.”
“Thanks.”
Alice handed him a towel as she returned from the other room.
I didn’t ask what she was doing.
But I could tell from the blood splattered on her cheek.
“I’ve gathered the necessary information, so we can strike the main target tomorrow. You can rest easy.”
“…I see.”
I breathed a sigh of relief.
The children’s daily lives won’t be threatened any longer.
“Alice, I will definitely repay you for this. I’ll prepare money, so please, could you ask him to wait just a little longer?”
“Of course. But I doubt Ouga-sama will ask for any payment.”
Her eyes sparkled as she watched Vellet-sama playing with the children.
Alice, who once harbored such hatred for nobles, now acknowledged him.
Forgive me, Alice.
I didn’t believe someone like him could exist.
To nobles, commoners are easily replaceable.
That’s how it was with my mother.
It’s unusual for a noble to extend a hand to commoners like us, especially without expecting any reward.
“Whatever the case, Ouga-sama will make the final decision. Let’s talk about this after the children are asleep.”
“…Yes. And dinner is just about ready too.”
“No wonder it smells so good.”
“Vellet-sama…!”
Vellet-sama approached, leading the children, who seemed to have taken a great liking to him, with the younger ones holding his hands.
“I didn’t realize how much time had passed. I might have gotten a bit too carried away.”
He says that, but he was likely buying time for Alice to finish her task.
He kept glancing at the spot where she had disappeared, ensuring the children didn’t go near it.
“So, what’s for dinner tonight?”
“Since everyone is here, I thought I’d make my specialty, curry.”
“Yay!”
“Sister’s cooking is super delicious!”
“I love the meals Mio-neechan makes!”
“Is that so?”
Vellet-sama patted the children’s heads as they celebrated.
“Haha. You’re all lucky to get to eat Mio’s delicious food every day.”
“Eh…!?”
Lucky to eat my cooking every day → He wants to eat it every day too → Being together every day → Marriage.
In other words… a proposal!?
W-What should I do?
I’ve never experienced love, so I can’t be sure.
“…………”
As I look at Vellet-sama, my cheeks grow warm.
…Maybe.
Maybe this person can fill the void in my heart.
By judging my sins.
