I Became the Only Reptile in the Community

Chapter 5

Chapter 5 – Actually, I’m a strong snake?

—–CROW—–

The absence of a status window didn’t change my goal.

Become a mythical creature, regain human form through transformation.

And since I was going to become a mythical creature, I might as well aim for the top.  Become a Dragon (龍), the highest position a snake like me could achieve.

‘So I’ll work towards that.’

Train to become a mythical creature.

Status window? I didn’t need something like that to become a mythical creature.

So, I was fine.

Ssssss.

‘Still, I’m a little curious about the status window.’

Honestly, I was curious.

About wielding the kind of power I had only seen in novels and games.

[Today’s Menu]

(Picture of the main meat dish, side vegetables, and pasta)

Today’s lunch is~ a greasy~ Western-style feast~.

-I’m so sick of this.

-I want kimchi.

└Me too.

└You guys should develop it. I’m making and eating it on my own.

└Really? How did you do it?

-Wow, it’s already lunchtime. Thanks for the notification as always.

‘Ah, it’s lunchtime already.’

I checked the time through the post on the gallery.  The user “GottaEat” consistently posted pictures and updates every mealtime, serving as a good indicator for me, who had no other way to tell the time.

Crunch.

“Sss.”

‘Let’s eat.’

Today’s lunch: 1 Amrita.

My body was still small, so even if I opened my mouth wide, I couldn’t swallow it whole. I had to split the Amrita in half and eat it in two bites.

I was eating it like this now, but the day would come when I could eat it in one bite once I grew bigger.

Gulp.

‘Finished.’

After finishing my lunch of Amrita in two bites, I felt full and rolled around at the entrance of the cave, my dwelling.

‘With so much Amrita, I don’t have to worry about food.’

And it was even better because I didn’t get tired of it.

If Amrita was scarce or if I got sick of it, I would have to move around to find other food.

And what if I couldn’t find anything to eat in the process? I would naturally have to leave this place and go outside where mana flowed at an average level.

Unlike this place, which was safe because the mana kept beasts away, there was no telling what dangers lurked outside.

Who knew, I might get caught and eaten by a bird of prey the moment I stepped out.

Shudder. Shudder.

‘I’m definitely not going outside until I get stronger.’

So, let’s plan what I’m going to do.

My future plans for becoming a mythical creature and for my daily life.

Meals.

Amrita perfectly solved this part.

There was plenty of Amrita everywhere I looked, it tasted good, and above all, it didn’t get tiresome, making me want to keep eating it.

Of course! My body was still small, so one was enough to fill me up.

Sleeping quarters.

I could just sleep in this cave.

I could move further inside once I got used to the mana.

And the floor was cool, so it was easy to fall asleep.

Even now, I was enjoying the cool cave floor as I moved around.  It felt like… lying on a floor cooled by air conditioning.

Training.

Training so I wouldn’t lose to anyone even if I went outside.

And becoming a mythical creature was the core of this training.

How to become a mythical creature: accumulate mana in the body.

So, go deeper into the cave and diligently breathe, accumulating mana within my body. I couldn’t overdo it now, so I just had to work hard within my limits.

‘Meals solved. Sleeping quarters solved. Training solved.’

All three elements were perfect.

Of course, that was just in theory. In reality, it was just eating, sleeping, and playing.

Well… it might seem a bit absurd.  Just looking at the gallery, there were tons of people struggling to get stronger.

But what could I do? This was reality. Instead, I lived in the distant past and wasn’t even human, so it was somewhat balanced, right?

‘…Should I check the gallery?’

Anyway, my plan was to eat three meals a day on schedule.

Sleep diligently, and with a clear mind and calm reasoning, thoroughly understand the process of adapting to mana and go deeper inside as soon as possible.

And to prevent boredom during this process, obtain information I didn’t know through the gallery… that was how I could define it.

-So you’re just playing and eating.

-This is the life of a snake? Maybe it’s better than my current life?

-What? Why am I envious?

└Tears are coming out of my eyes.

└Why?

└Because I’m envious LOL.

By the way, I wrote a post about this and got a pretty good response.

-Then the Gallery Master doesn’t train separately?

└Why would I? I get stronger just by breathing.

└Wow. That’s a real cheat.

└If you’re jealous, you should be born as a snake like the Gallery Master.

└I still want to be human.  Snakes are a bit…

‘I can transform into a human once I become a mythical creature, you know?’

Of course, the process would be a bit long, but with Amrita and a cave abundant in mana, presumably a ley line, the time would be greatly reduced.

Flick. Flick.

Feeling the movement of my tail swaying according to my mood, I checked other posts.

Preferably posts related to the keyword “ancient times,” where I lived.

[Characteristics of Ancient Times]

-Author: HistoryRestorationAddict

This hyung will give you a brief explanation of ancient times.

First of all, what are ancient times? As the name suggests, it refers to the times that existed in the “ancient” past.  The minimum time frame is 5,000 years. So, ancient times is a term that refers to any time period more than 5,000 years in the past.

“Sss, sss.”

‘5,000 years?’

And that was just the minimum.

I might have been born even further back in the past.

I wondered how far back in the past ancient times was, but at this rate, I wondered if I could even reach the original storyline.

.

.

.

They say mana was incredibly abundant in ancient times, unlike now.  If you ask how much… you know Rain, the Empire’s Sword Master? Yeah, the guy with the scar over his eye. Would you believe me if I said he’d be treated as just another ordinary swordsman if he went to ancient times?

“Sss?!”

‘No way!’

I knew Rain.

Sword Master, the highest position a swordsman could reach, and the Empire’s strongest blade.

That guy treated as just another swordsman?

.

.

.

Of course, I’m talking about comparing the total amount of power. Considering his accumulated experience, of course, Rain would win. However, in a pure power vs. power fight, without relying on technique, there wouldn’t be much difference between him and an ordinary soldier. Okay?

The reason was, as I just said, the enormous amount of mana.

Another example would be that an ordinary beast from ancient times would be as dangerous as a magical beast here.  A cat from there could beat a tiger magical beast from here LOL.

To summarize this post, there was so much mana in ancient times that a Sword Master would be just another swordsman, and a cat from there could take down a tiger magical beast from here. I’ll write another post, Season 2, if the response is good. Bye.

“Sss, ssssaaa!”

‘Oh, ohhh! That was incredibly useful information.’

I never thought the environment itself would have so much mana.

‘So, I’m in ancient times where mana is already abundant, and within that, this cave is so dense with mana that Mana Spirits are forming?’

I wondered if there were any other posts.

While searching for HistoryRestorationAddict’s posts, a new one appeared.

[Characteristics of Ancient Times 2]

It was HistoryRestorationAddict’s post, just what I was looking for.

[Characteristics of Ancient Times 2]

-Author: HistoryRestorationAddict

With all the commotion about the Gallery Master lately, let’s learn about ancient times, Season 2 is here LOL.

I mentioned that mana was abundant in the last post, right?  This time, since the Gallery Master can see this, I wrote it in a way that would be helpful to him.

“Ssssaaaa!!”

‘HistoryRestorationAddict, is he a god?!’

How could he write posts that were so helpful to me?!

.

.

.

In this post, I’ll tell you about the environment of ancient times.

First, as I explained in the previous post, mana was extremely abundant in ancient times. So, the natural environment was incredibly active.

Especially spirits, they had a tremendous influence in ancient times, causing environments to be divided into extremes.

‘Spirits…’

To be honest, spirits weren’t a very popular class in SEH.

The attacks they used consumed a lot of magic power, but their power and speed were significantly weaker compared to other skills.

.

.

.

Now, spirits reside in the Spirit Realm and descend to the physical world to help their contractors in exchange for magic power, right? But in ancient times, spirits didn’t need contractors.

Why? Because the atmosphere was already overflowing with mana. Enough to more than compensate for the cost of descending to the physical world.  And there were no restrictions. Why? Because there was so much mana! The attacks we barely manage to use by asking spirits?  For the spirits of ancient times, it was like ‘clicking a button.’ And the power used by that ‘click’ was several times stronger.

So, if you ask me to name the golden age of spirits, I wouldn’t hesitate to say ancient times.

However, I hadn’t seen any actual spirits since coming here.

The Mana Spirits floating around now weren’t real spirits, just a phenomenon caused by clustered mana, so they didn’t count.

.

.

.

Anyway, due to the activities of these spirits, places where fire spirits resided were constantly filled with intense heat, places where water spirits resided were always humid, and places where earth spirits resided were filled with rocks.

Other spirits also had a huge impact on the environment according to their characteristics.

So, here’s something to think about. What kind of spirit resides in the place where the Gallery Master is staying?

‘Gulp.’

Who was it?

I couldn’t think of a specific spirit.

Because I hadn’t felt any particular heat, humidity, or other characteristics during the two days I’d been here.

.

.

.

I think the Gallery Master is currently in a boundary area.

A kind of safe zone where spirits have agreed not to alter the environment.

I want to explain what a safe zone is and why it exists, but… I think I’ve written too much this time.

I think I got a little excited with the Gallery Master’s appearance. I’ll end the post here and continue the explanation in the next one.

Summary of this post: The environment of ancient times was influenced by the characteristics of spirits.

-Wow, he’s cutting it off here.

-Cliffhanger master LOL.

-Hey! Next part! Bring the next part!

-But why do you know so much?

└Seriously. You’d think he lived in ancient times.

└(Author): Ah, that’s because I’m a Time Mage.  I look into the past, restoring and correcting lost history and misinformation.

└Crazy. A Time Mage? That’s impossible with an ordinary mind.

└(Author): I was lucky enough to have the aptitude for it. Thanks to that, I’m glad I can share helpful information with the Gallery Master LOL.

-Wow, thinking about it this way, isn’t the Gallery Master super strong?

└(Author): That’s right. Even if the Gallery Master is an ordinary beast, he could easily take down magical beasts here. And if he goes further and becomes a mythical creature…

└If he becomes one?

└(Author): …He’ll become incredibly strong, like that guy.

└Who’s that guy?

└(Author): Hmm… I’ll talk about that when I write the next post.
