I Became the Maid of the Lout Prince

Chapter 200 [Gathering (1)]

T/N: This 200th chapter is sponsored by James B. (9/14)! If you enjoy reading and are willing to help me catch up to the latest chapters faster by sponsoring bonus chapters, see my Ko-fi.

That afternoon, after barely escaping with my life from Machart’s attack…

Naturally, I couldn’t concentrate properly on the following Magic Department classes and couldn’t help but reflect on the crisis I had just experienced.

‘That was really dangerous…’

I almost died senselessly due to Machart’s surprise attack. Although I was able to escape somehow through rough resistance and inducing carelessness, I was still in a situation where my life was threatened.

No, perhaps I was caught up in something even more troublesome than simply having my life threatened.

If he had just threatened to kill me, it could have been resolved somehow by me taking him out first, but if Machart was really after me myself, that would be truly problematic.

If I made a mistake, there was a possibility that even after killing him, I might be labeled as a human colluding with the demon race.

Of course, even if that wasn’t the case, getting involved with his status as the Fourth Prince was troublesome in many ways. It was bad enough being involved with the demon race, but his status was disgustingly high on top of that. [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

If I made a mistake, there was a possibility that it could negatively affect Ethan, who was pretending to be my fiancé.

‘Somehow, I need to handle this as quickly and quietly as possible.’

Originally, he was someone who could only be dealt with in the episode just before leaving the empire after graduation. After all, in the game’s main story, he was roughly equivalent to the final boss of Part 4.

After the battle with him, Part 5 begins, where we enter the demon-occupied areas of the empire and fight against the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King’s army and the Demon King himself throughout.

‘Theoretically, he’s the final boss of Part 4, but that doesn’t mean there’s absolutely no way to defeat him at this point in time.’

The time when Machart accepted power from the demon race was about four and a half years ago. This calculation must be correct, as he would have assassinated the First Prince and the First Empress not long after receiving the power.

And at the point of five years after accepting that power, Machart succeeded in transforming into a demon, and no longer able to hide his identity, he killed his body double to fake his own death by demons and escaped from the empire.

In other words, it wasn’t until after his transformation into a demon that Machart gained power that made him the final boss of Part 4, and fortunately, there was still about half a year left until he reached that transformation.

While it wasn’t a comfortable amount of time, it was enough to attempt to kill him. If we gather the main characters of Luminor Academy and make a concerted effort, we might be able to subjugate him.

…The problem was, even if I tried to gather those main characters now, it wouldn’t be so easy.

‘To begin with, I don’t have any connection with the Hero’s party, and approaching the Hero himself would be going against Ethan’s words…’

Although it was an action to protect my own life, it still meant ignoring Ethan’s orders and trying to contact the Hero.

Moreover, I had already met Agnes secretly without telling Ethan at the end of last year, so if I did something similar this time, even Ethan would surely be disappointed in me.

Then, in the end, I would have to explain to Ethan not only that my life was being threatened by Machart, but also why I needed the Hero’s help to resolve it smoothly… [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

To be honest, I wasn’t confident that I could explain this part well to Ethan without mentioning my previous life.

‘If I could just tell Gyeongmwajogyegigwat, I could spill everything out clearly.’

As I had been certain from the moment I first saw his name, and after observing his behavior, Gyeongmwajogyegigwat was undoubtedly a player of Luminor Academy.

In other words, I could reveal to him that I had transmigrated and that I had played Luminor Academy in my previous life, and he would understand without thinking it was too strange.

But in Ethan’s case, he was a person in this world, and making him understand that he was a character in a game would be a challenge from the start.

To begin with, he wouldn’t even have the concept of computer games in his mind, so I’d have to replace it with other media like novels to make an analogy.

…And apart from everything else, I didn’t really want to reveal to Ethan that I was a man in my previous life.

It’s obvious, isn’t it?

If I reveal this to Ethan, who likes me, he would end up either being a guy with a preference for men, or someone who fell in love just seeing a woman’s appearance regardless of the person within being a male or whatever.

Either way, it wouldn’t end in a good aftermath, so there was no need to reveal such a harsh truth to Ethan.

And above all, if I revealed to Ethan that I was a man, then for me in the future…

“Lilith, Lilith.”

“Oh, oh, yes?”

“Class is over. How long are you going to sit still?”

“Ah…”

…Come to think of it, it was my afternoon class.

I clearly remember entering the classroom, exchanging brief greetings with Agnes, and sitting down, but when I finally came to my senses, what I saw was the blackboard with traces of having just been erased and an empty classroom with only Agnes and me remaining.

“Did something happen? You’ve been staring into space for a while.”

“I-I’m sorry, Miss Agnes.”

“…There’s no need to apologize.”

Still, the fact that she stayed by my side until everyone else left the classroom showed that she was a friend with some loyalty.

During my time as a player of Luminor Academy, she wasn’t a character I particularly liked, but actually meeting her in the game like this, she’s proving to be quite genuine the more I get to know her.

I quietly apologized in my heart for my past mistake of attaching the modifier “Red Chihuahua Class Leader” to Agnes in my head until now.

“I had an important concern for a moment. And it’s a concern deeply related to my future.”

“…Career issues? Are you worried about where to go after graduation?”

“It’s a more fundamental issue than that. It’s about whether I can graduate from the academy in the first place.”

“…Aren’t you second in the Magic Department?”

“Uh… that’s true.”

…It wasn’t that kind of graduation I meant in the first place.

Anyway, now wasn’t the time to be picky about means and methods. It was time to get help from anyone who could help me survive Machart.

Especially in Agnes’s case, I had already cleared a debt with her once, so it was relatively easier to seek her cooperation.

“Miss Agnes.”

“Yes.”

“Before returning to the dormitory today… could you take me to the entrance of the Swordsmanship Department building?”

“…Sure. I don’t mind.”

Although Agnes hadn’t yet reached the ranks of the great mages, having her by my side would prevent Machart from easily approaching me like last time.

It was enough if I could be protected by her for a very short period. Just until the end of this semester’s classes and before the summer break starts.

I planned to somehow defeat Machart during this summer break, just before he completed his transformation into a demon, before the start of his last semester.

After moving to Ethan’s Swordsmanship Department building with Agnes’s help, and then walking back to the dormitory with Ethan…

After finishing dinner and returning to the dormitory with him, I immediately explained to Ethan what had happened this afternoon. [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

The story of how Prince Machart approached me after parting with Ethan at lunchtime, threatened my life, and then gave up and left.

Of course, I kept it between just the two of us, as it wasn’t a story that would do any good for Isabel to hear.

“…What… did you say?”

“This afternoon, Prince Machart came and threatened my life, and in the end, he threatened me with my life, asking me to become his wife, but eventually gave up and left.”

Crack!

“Y-Young Master Ethan?!”

“That son of a…”

…I had deliberately brought up the story with lavender tea, hoping he would listen while calming his mind as much as possible, but sadly, it seemed to have little effect.

The teacup clutched in Ethan’s hand was crushed along with his fist. It was fortunate, if you could call it that, that his sturdy body prevented his hand from being injured.

Pieces of the teacup fell in fragments on and under the table, but if I had to say, it was more troublesome to stop Ethan from rushing out with a sword in the middle of the night than to clean up the glass shards that had burst from his grip.

“Young Master Ethan, please calm down.”

“…No, I can’t calm down. Before dawn tomorrow, I need to hang that vomit-inducing head at the academy’s main gate. I’ll throw his body into the stables to be crushed under horse hooves all night…”

“If you do such a thing, it would be treason and an insult to the Royal Family! Do you want to erase the entire Blackwood family from the empire?!”

“…Right, I understand. Then I’ll settle for sneaking in and killing him that way instead. If he pointed a sword at you, Lilith, he must have been prepared to be stabbed to death himself…”

“Young Master Ethan!”

It wasn’t that I wanted him to show no reaction and calmly accept the story of my near-death experience, but I also didn’t want him to lose his reason by getting this excited.

In the first place, the reason I honestly told Ethan this story wasn’t to urge him to go assassinate Machart, but to have a meeting about how to deal with Machart.

If we moved rashly, not only would it not work, but it would likely make things much more complicated.

“I’ll say it one more time. I understand your feelings, Young Master Ethan, but we can’t kill that prince at this point, anyway.”

“If you’re talking about dealing with the aftermath, I’ll take care of it. It might take some time, but if we create a fake identity, we can somehow cover our tracks. If we don’t use magic, there won’t be any traces left.”

“That’s not what I meant. Of course, what happens after killing Prince Machart is a problem, but the issue I’m talking about is the act of killing him itself.”

“…What do you mean?”

“Prince Machart was using demonic power received from the demons.”

“…He was using demonic power?”

“Yes, Young Master Ethan.”

Ethan’s face deepened with concern upon hearing my words. It seems he finally realized how much more serious the situation was after hearing about the use of demonic power.

I was momentarily worried about what to do if he insisted on going to kill him even after hearing this, but fortunately, like a well-educated nobleman, he didn’t seem to be that stubborn.

“If I may offer one piece of advice, acting rashly in the current state could put you in danger, Young Master Ethan. At least, that’s how it felt to me when I directly faced Prince Machart.”

“Then, what should we do? Are we just going to let it slide that someone threatening your life, Lilith, is related to the demons?”

“No, of course not. But, if possible, I want to end it in a situation where we’ve thoroughly cornered him.”

“…A situation where we’ve thoroughly cornered him?”

“Yes. And if possible, after creating such a situation, there would be no repercussions for taking down Prince Machart.” [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

“Do you have a proper plan?”

“The plan still needs some refinement, but there is definitely someone we need to meet. …After all, the person who knows best about dealing with demons is attending our academy.”

“……”

Ethan’s expression hardened as soon as he heard about someone related to dealing with demons.

He seemed to have guessed whose name was about to come out of my mouth, but at this point, we couldn’t refuse the most reliable force for such a trivial reason.

“I think we need to meet with the current Hero… Gyeongmwajogyegigwat.”

“…That Hero?”

“Yes. It’s necessary.”

T/N

Hello! Axiomatic here.

We’ve finally reached 200 chapters!! We still have a long way to go and am very grateful to everyone who has or had sponsored bonus chapters, and I am just as grateful to you for reading. Thank you to you all! Based on my current records (see schedule) and assuming all goes well, I am on track to translate Chapter 261 by Oct. 13.

Also, you may have noticed that the cover has changed! I adjusted it to reflect the current cover on the original site and it is probably related to one of the latest chapters as of writing (I suspect Chapter 484). I’m not sure how long it will stay that way, but do let me know in the comments if you spot that it has reverted or changed.

See you tomorrow!
