I Became the Maid of the Lout Prince

Chapter 170 [Reward for a Complete Victory (1)]

After exchanging appropriate greetings with Seraphine and Luke upon entering the student council room…

I sat in the General Affairs seat that Luke guided me to and waited for the other student council members to appear.

Well, I had already heard about some of the members from Seraphine, and I roughly knew who the student council members were from the original story.

While I was sitting in my seat in the student council room, chatting casually with other council members, familiar characters in various ways began to appear one by one.

“It’s been a while, Lilith.”

“…It’s been a while, Miss August.”

“How was your summer vacation? I spent a relaxing holiday at a villa owned by the August Company last summer.”

“I see. I’m glad you had a good time.”

“…If it’s alright with you, perhaps next summer we could vacation together…”

“I’d prefer if you didn’t cling so much to my maid, Lady Lizzy Lynn August.”

“…I-I apologize.”

One noble lady was boasting about her summer vacation story but quickly averted her gaze and fled at Ethan’s appearance.

“Is everyone here~? Hmm? The lady over here seems to be someone I haven’t seen before~?”

“It’s nice to meet you, Senior Orion. I’m Lilith Blackwood Rosewood, a first-year in the Magic Department.” [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

“Ah, so you’re that child~? I’ve heard a lot of rumors about you~.”

“Pardon? What kind of rumors…”

“Oh, you know~. This and that~? You’re quite famous already despite being a first-year~? You and Agnes might be the most famous among the first-years in the Magic Department~?”

“…Senior Orion, if you get too close to my maid…”

“Oh my, Ethan~! It’s been a while~! Is this the first time since I saw you at the palace? You seem to have grown a bit taller since then. Have you become a bit more manly~?”

“…Pardon?”

“S-Senior Orion, please step away from Young Master Ethan!”

One mysterious senior from the Magic Department who, just like in the game, is enigmatic and seems dangerous in many ways.

…And in addition to that, a character with no presence from a commoner background, about whom I only knew the name of without any other information.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Gwyn Evelt, a second-year in the Technical Department.”

“Ah, yes. I’m Lilith Blackwood Rosewood, a first-year in the Magic Department.”

“Yes. I’ll remember that.”

“…Thank you.”

A character with so little presence that, in a sense, he has even less known information about him than Orion.

This was my first meeting with Gwyn Evelt, the rival character in Luke’s route.

Gwyn Evelt.

To be honest, I barely remembered anything about him except his name and appearance.

You might say, “How could I not know a heroine’s rival character after pouring thousands of hours into Luminor Academy?” but this guy had such a faint presence that it really couldn’t be helped.

He was quiet, had no connections with major characters, and consequently had no significant role in the story. He was essentially a character that could be regarded as just a student NPC.

A male student with short brown hair, about 180 cm tall (T/N: around 5’ 11”), with a blunt personality. [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

He just has the kind of appearance that makes you think the Luminor Academy production team might have said, “We’re getting tired of creating unique characters, let’s just make an average one and pair him with Luke.”

He had no memorable characteristics and no story where he played a main role. Even characters like Ethan or Caraham had main stories despite everything.

Even though he’s a rival character, he doesn’t act like one. He naturally disappears from the story like air once the protagonist starts building some friendship with Luke.

So, why call such an extra-like character a rival?

It’s because, in the ending where you show absolutely no affection towards Luke, it’s briefly mentioned in one line that Luke married this guy.

He’s treated as a rival just because he ends up with Luke in the conclusion.

‘Anyway, he’s not relevant to me.’

From the start, he was a character with no possibility of being involved with Lilith or Ethan in the original story. In fact, it was questionable whether his story was connected to any character other than Luke.

In a situation where I was already troublesomely entangled with the main characters, I had no energy to spare for a character with no presence.

As I mentioned earlier, this semester was going to be a hellishly busy period due to various matters.

“Now that Vice President Gwyn is here, let’s start the meeting. The first agenda we need to start from today is…”

It was the first day when all student council members gathered, including me, who couldn’t attend the previous day. Under Seraphine’s leadership, the student council work began.

Instead of joining in with agenda proposals or questions, I simply focused on organizing documents as the General Affairs officer.

‘Don’t stand out, just stay in the middle.’

After all, I had a separate purpose for joining the student council.

The image of the Blackwood family for joining hands with Seraphine’s Third Princess faction was certainly expected to rise.

Also, I needed to befriend Lizzy to ask for help in making potions for the end-of-semester Hunting Festival.

If I could proceed with those two things without a hitch, the rest didn’t matter.

About two weeks had passed since I started following the student council order led by Seraphine.

It’s the season when we have a bit of free time after taking the midterm exams of the second semester. [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

No special events occurred during these two weeks. There was no reason for special events to happen to Ethan and Lilith, who weren’t protagonists anyway.

If there was anything special that happened during this time, it was probably that I was utterly defeated again during a duel in Harold’s class…

I lasted a bit longer compared to the second duel, but this time too, I couldn’t create as fierce a battle as the first duel.

The fact that I lasted a bit longer was probably thanks to my overall abilities increasing after suddenly rising by four levels. There might have been some changes in my dagger skills, too.

Come to think of it, maybe the first duel was the first and last chance.

Considering that Harold becomes more accustomed to dealing with me the more we cross swords, I should have managed to land a hit somehow in the first duel when he had no information about me.

At this rate, I might not win even once until the end of the semester.

Of course, I wouldn’t fail the class just because a Magic Department student couldn’t win a round against a Swordsmanship Department professor, but I felt strangely anxious about the possibility of not being able to score even one point against Harold.

…Maybe it’s because of the dream I started having frequently after my third defeat to Harold.

‘You’re terrible, Lilith. Even if you’re fighting with a dagger, how can you not land a single proper attack throughout an entire semester?’

‘I’m sorry, Master. My skills are lacking…’

‘I can’t keep such a terrible sword-wielding maid by Ethan’s side anymore. From next year, quit being an exclusive maid and leave the Blackwood mansion.’

‘No, please, Master! Just one more chance…!’

After waking up several times from such strange dreams and feeling uneasy, it was inevitable that my consciousness became focused on this aspect.

Well, I knew that Harold wasn’t the kind of person who would cut off an exclusive maid for such a trivial reason in reality. It’s just that the content of the dreams I’ve been having lately was like this.

Anyway, regardless of the dream, to make a good impression on Harold, I needed to win at least one round before the end of the semester.

It was also getting increasingly annoying how Harold blocked all three of my daggers, my attack magic, and my support magic with just one sword. [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

To be honest, even though my opponent was a Sword Master, I wanted to win at least once. …Even though my opponent was fighting with both stamina and mana sealed.

While thinking about this, I was watching Ethan and Harold’s class duel from the audience seats.

As befitting someone on the verge of becoming a Sword Master, Ethan was continuing a duel in a completely different way from the duels I had with Harold.

Clang! Clang! Claaang! Clang! Clang!

“Huff, huff… Haaah!”

“……”

Ethan was swinging his dual swords as if about to devour his opponent before him, and Harold blocked his swords with a serious expression.

It seemed that Ethan had undergone quite a lot of mental changes after the battle with the Kraken not long ago.

After that battle, Ethan’s swordsmanship grew at a truly unbelievable rate.

In the evaluation duel with Harold, he showed a much stronger and more powerful appearance, wielding his dual swords tirelessly, and in the weekly Practical Monster Subjugation classes, he was achieving even more results than before.

It seemed that having glimpsed the threshold of a Sword Master once had ignited Ethan’s motivation for growth.

Claaang!!

“…Uck!”

“Haa, ha, haah…”

With Ethan’s horizontal slash, Harold’s sword momentarily flew into the air.

Shallow exclamations burst from the mouths of the students watching.

“…Huh?”

“He, he repelled Professor Harold’s sword…?”

“As expected of the Blackwood family…”

Ethan had achieved a ‘complete victory’ for the first time during a duel with Harold.

It was the second complete victory among the students taking the same class after Gyeongmwajogyegigwat.

“Ethan.”

“…Yes.”

“Since you’ve achieved a complete victory against me, I’ll give you a perfect score for this semester’s grade, just like Gyeongmwajogyegigwat.”

“Thank you!” [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]

“Also, from now on, I’ll use my mana in our duels as well. Be prepared.”

“Yes!”

He had essentially graduated from Harold’s class this semester as the second after the Hero in the advanced class.

Meanwhile, I, in the intermediate class, still couldn’t score a single win against Harold, who wasn’t using either stamina or mana.

However, it couldn’t be helped since everyone has different areas of expertise.

I gave a calm compliment to Ethan, who returned to my side after finishing his duel with Harold.

“Congratulations, Young Master Ethan. Your skills are improving rapidly day by day.”

“…Thank you, Lilith.”

“Since you’ve won against the Master in a duel, I’ll prepare a reward for tonight as well, Young Master Ethan.”

“About that, Lilith.”

“Yes?”

“Today, I didn’t just win a round like usual, but I won a ‘complete victory’ against Father, right?”

“…That’s correct.”

“I feel a bit awkward saying this myself, but is the usual reward enough for a complete victory?”

“…Perhaps, do you want a different reward for your complete victory?”

“It’s not so much that I want a different reward, but I just feel like I want to progress further than before. After all, you and I are temporary lovers now. Of course, Lilith, if you say that’s all, then I can’t help it.”

“…I understand. Since you say so, Young Master Ethan, then I’ll prepare a reward befitting a ‘complete victory.'”

“I’m looking forward to it, Lilith.”

…What should I do?

I hadn’t really thought about what kind of reward to give for a complete victory.
