chapter 19
Episode 19 – Mina Endras (1)
Mina Endras, a new student at Glesius Academy, has recently had a problem.
“Ha.”
The identity of the worry that made her sigh is…….
“My crystal ball… ….”
It was her number one treasure, a crystal ball attached to a magic wand that anyone who dreams of becoming a wizard must have.
A normal crystal ball is originally clear and transparent and has its own unique color.
However, the crystal ball on Mina’s magic wand was cloudy in color and had cracks here and there.
The causes of this phenomenon were diverse.
The most likely possibility was that impurities were mixed in during the manufacturing process of the crystal ball.
Other than that, in most cases, damage occurred due to the supply of more than the allowed amount of mana.
Lastly, the least likely was the case of damage due to carelessness.
However, since wizards were people who cherished their magic wands as much as their own lives, their magic wands were rarely damaged due to carelessness.
Then, the most likely thing is that impurities were mixed in during the manufacturing process or mana was supplied beyond the allowed amount.
Mina was also an aspiring wizard and knew the details of her own magic wand.
So, she always took good care of her magic wand, and to do so, she even signed up for and took a class called ‘Overview of Equipment Management’.
For Mina, her magic wand was her most prized possession.
Even when she slept at night, she would sleep with her magic wand in her arms instead of leaving it by her side.
Since it was an item she cherished so much, the fact that the crystal ball, a key part of her magic wand, was broken was a huge shock to Mina.
A crystal ball is an object that acts as a type of amplifier that amplifies the power of magic used by a wizard.
Therefore, the manufacturing process of the crystal ball was very complicated, and since the amount of amplification varied depending on the material, the price also varied greatly depending on the material used.
The word is a crystal ball, but in reality, various gems and minerals were used, not just crystal.
However, although the materials are different, after going through a complex manufacturing process, the final form created is a colored transparent bead, so it is called a crystal ball.
The crystal ball attached to Mina’s magic wand was made of crystal, the most commonly used material.
In other words, Mina’s crystal ball was made of real ‘crystal’, and this is where the problem arose.
This magic wand was a gift from Mina’s parents for her to enter Glesius Academy.
However, Mina’s parents did not know much about her magic wand.
So they bought a magic wand made of ‘natural’ crystal, not the ‘artificial’ crystal created by alchemists.
Artificial crystals are clean products with almost no impurities, while natural crystals contain trace amounts of impurities.
So, natural crystal was not suitable as a material for crystal balls compared to artificial crystal.
Comparing market prices, the prices of magic wands using artificial crystals and magic wands using natural crystals were different.
Compared to magic wands using natural crystals, magic wands using artificial crystals were about 25% more expensive, and in fact, the stability was better when using artificial crystals.
However, Mina’s parents, who do not know much about this, thought that it would be a good idea to gift a cheap magic wand to their daughter, so she bought the wand and gave it to her as a gift…….
In a way, the crystal ball on Mina’s magic wand was destined to break someday.
However, Mina did not know that and thought that her crystal ball on her own wand was her artificial crystal ball.
This was because although it was possible to identify the main materials used in the manufacturing process of a crystal ball once manufactured, it was not possible to determine whether it was natural or artificially made.
Without even knowing it, Mina went looking for a way to fix her crystal ball.
Some people looked at her Mina and said that it would be better for her to get a new magic wand, but Mina could not throw away this magic wand, which was a gift from her parents.
Her family’s circumstances were not very good, so it was difficult for her to open her house to buy a new magic wand.
She said, ‘I have to fix her crystal ball somehow. Surely there must be a way to fix it.’
Mina went around looking for a way to fix her crystal ball because she didn’t want to make her parents suffer anymore.
She went to the library and looked through a lot of books, went to an information store to look for information, etc. She put in a lot of effort in her own way.
But nowhere did it say how to fix her crystal ball.
Around this time, she was thinking about giving up everything and buying a new wand.
A rumor began to circulate within the academy.
‘I heard there’s a repair shop somewhere in the city outside the academy, and it’s a place that repairs things really well.’
‘They say the person at the repair shop is the one who can fix not only a broken helmet but also a carriage wheel in an instant.’
‘Actually, the owner of the repair shop is not a human, but a rather tall dwarf. They say he can fix anything.’
This rumor was something that the general public could just pass off as a laughing matter.
When told that a person who could fix everything had opened a repair shop, most people treated it as just a rumor.
But strangely enough, Mina felt like this rumor was true.
Maybe she wanted to believe that the rumor was true.
Mina moved to find the source of her rumor, and there she met a student.
“Hey, are you talking about that rumor?”
“Oh, that rumor? I also heard this while I was out not long ago. Was it at the top of Bleas? The owner of the top went around talking to people. It is said that a man of great ability repaired the wheels of his chariot. According to him, he even repaired the axle and wheel with just three swings of a hammer. Isn’t that an interesting story?”
“So where is the repair shop located?”
“Would you like to go see it? As for where the location is…….”
Mina was able to find out the exact location of her repair shop from the student who spread the rumor about her.
And then, with great determination, she visited the repair shop. Contrary to rumors, the owner of the repair shop was from the Eastern Continent.
“Oh, yes. Please come in first.”
It’s hard to say she’s good-looking because she doesn’t put on any makeup, but the idea that she’s a man who’s strangely attractive appears in Mina’s head, perhaps because of her exotic appearance.
She took out a crystal ball from her leather bag and showed it to him, and he asked what this object was.
“This is a crystal ball that you attach to your magic wand.”
Mina explained the items she brought with her, and she had several conversations with the repair shop owner.
He asked Mina to sit and wait for a moment, and she went into the studio.
And soon after the door closed, Mina began to see strange things in her eyes.
Blue particles floating in the air began to enter the studio.
The moment the sound of a hammer was heard inside the studio, blue particles began to gather at a faster rate than before.
And finally, at the moment when the sound of the hammer stopped, the flow of blue particles was no longer visible to Mina’s eyes.
‘What is this?’
She had no idea that this mysterious phenomenon would make her eyes fall from the entrance of her studio.
After a while, her eyes, which had been fixed on the studio door, moved to the hand of the repair shop owner who opened the studio door and came out.
What was in his hand was a crystal ball.
It was the same as when her parents gave her the magic wand.
“It was a little difficult, but we were able to repair it perfectly.”
He smiled awkwardly and handed Mina her crystal ball.
Mina took her crystal ball and looked around.
She showed no blemishes, and through her crystal ball, her own hands supporting her ball and the floor of her repair shop were clearly visible.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much for fixing my parents’ gift! It was a gift my parents bought me, so I couldn’t throw it away. Thank you very much. How much does the repair cost? Did you get a lot out of it?”
Mina expressed her gratitude over and over again, revealing how much she cared for this item.
But at the same time, she was worried about the cost of repairs.
The only money she has in her hand is ten silver coins.
She didn’t feel it when the crystal ball was repaired, but she was a little worried when she faced the reality of the repair cost.
“Originally, I should have received fifty silver coins, but since this is my first customer, I’ll just give him five silver coins.”
After hearing his answer, Mina took out five silver coins from her pocket and handed them to him.
“Oh, and since you’re my first customer, I’ll give you this as a gift.”
He even handed her three vials filled with her blue liquid, in honor of being her first guest.
“It’s a mana recovery medicine. “I got it from an alchemist I know well, and I’ll give it to you as a service.”
Mina had her personal repair cost of 50 silver coins reduced by 90%, so she only received 5 silver coins and was given three bottles of mana recovery medicine as a bonus, making her question whether this person was really a person.
“Thank you! Good bye! I will spread a lot of rumors! Thank you!”
So she made a promise.
She decided to spread the word about this store to people she knew.
Mina’s steps leaving her repair shop were lighter than ever.
