Ch. 38 - The Battle between Asil and Heidel
It was impossible for the voice of the chattering girl to go unheard by the elf with exceptional hearing.
Asil’s heart sank as he heard the voice coming from behind.
Ah, right. Yuriana was here!
He had forgotten for a moment while thinking about sending Heidel away.
In the midst of this, the guy started running his wicked mouth.
“Hm? Asil, did you have such a big child with you?”
“……”
“There’s even a kid who talks and walks, and you were fighting with me over her? Shameless. The shamelessness of humans is indeed different from elves.”
“If you don’t shut that mouth, you’ll see something ugly.”
Heidel seemed completely unaware of the recent events, even rumors, focusing only on rebuilding Elodia.
“At least it’s a daughter. Asil, just thinking about you having a son who resembles you is exhausting. One of you is already too much for the world.”
“What?”
“I’ll pray to our Lord that she doesn’t inherit your personality.”
Asil’s headache worsened.
If he could, he would punch or slash Heidel without hesitation.
Now, it was not just a thought—it was time to act. The guy kept spewing nonsense.
But there was someone who shouldn’t have seen this!
He quickly turned around and signaled with his eyes.
“Levina!”
“Yes! Miss, come here.”
The master-servant coordination was perfect.
“Huh? What…? Why are you suddenly doing this?!”
As Levina covered Yuriana’s eyes and pulled her tightly to her side, his precious daughter struggled in surprise.
At seven years old, a girl was manageable enough.
As for Karas, he was a boy and would understand on his own.
All set!
Asil turned back with fierce eyes, and Heidel, like the sharp elf he was, took the hint.
“Ha, a spar after a long time?”
“I won’t let you off. You have to pay for running your mouth.”
“Give it a try!”
In an instant, Asil, with his knuckles on, charged at Heidel.
Whoosh!
The movement was so fast that the sound of the wind rushing was heard, causing Yuriana to panic.
“Ugh, Levina, what’s happening?!”
“Stay still. It’s not good for a child to see such things.”
“Dad said I’m a proper seven-year-old now, so I can say what I want! Yuriana wants to see!”
“No. This Levina, ugh, stay still! Absolutely not! I won’t let go.”
“Ugh!”
Unlike Levina, Al didn’t completely block Karas from seeing such scenes.
He merely pulled him closer and whispered to avoid the fallout from the fight.
“Amazing, isn’t it?”
“Incredible… it’s the first time I’ve seen something like this.”
“Both of them are natural-born fighters.”
“Whoa…!”
With the Ifrit family being under house arrest on rebellion charges and their soldiers taken away, Karas had never had the chance to see such a scene.
But it should be okay now.
Even to Al’s eyes, the fight between Asil and the red-haired elf was impressive.
“As expected of an elf. Though Lord Litus moves quickly, it’s not easy to catch an elf. They are truly as swift as flies.”
Words that would make the elves of Elodia gnash their teeth and advocate for invasion against the already disliked Empire.
Karas was purely amazed.
“Then, are you saying Lord Litus will lose?”
“Not at all. The Lord is being generous because this isn’t a place for causing trouble.”
“What?”
“If he takes out his claws instead of knuckles, he could easily overcome that one late step and throw the elf away.”
“C-c-claws? Those are long and sharp; there’s no way he has them, right? Did he buy them from the blacksmith we visited?”
Karas was extremely shocked.
The weapon he had seen hours earlier at the kingdom’s blacksmith. The fearsome weapon—did Asil have it?
Al shook his head.
“No. He had it since we left the Dark House.”
“What? Where?”
Karas’s eyes widened.
“Ah. If I reveal that, Lord Asil might really get angry. It’s a professional secret. For the record, he still has it now.”
“No way!”
“That’s what makes him the Lord of Dark Town. The mark of a strong person, perhaps?”
Meanwhile, the fight between Asil and Heidel grew more intense.
As they were on a hill a bit away from the crowded area where they came to see the tree, there were no other people watching.
With nothing to hinder them, it was time to settle the score!
The ground where they clashed was getting torn up.
If they didn’t have strong lower bodies, they would trip over the small dirt holes they created and fall.
Thaat!
Asil’s hand flew towards Heidel’s neck, but he missed.
Heidel leaned back and taunted him.
“Ha, if you can’t dodge this, we give you a week of punishment.”
“What?”
Asil’s eyes turned fierce.
“You’re not an elf, but an under-evolved fairy.”
“Such nonsense.”
Heidel smirked.
“The punished have to introduce themselves as
“Shut up!”
Ah, that guy’s mouth!
Whoosh!
Asil’s hand cut through the air again.
If it hit, it would cause at least serious injury, and at worst, a lifetime of suffering.
Heidel knew this but continued to provoke with his nasty mouth.
“The shame makes me come back as an excellent elf warrior after a week. Hahaha! Asil, how about this? If you lose here, you introduce yourself as Fairy Asil from now on?”
The elf’s provocation was indeed great.
Asil was on the verge of exploding with real anger.
‘Does this guy really want to die…!’
Heidel, as quick as his race, dodged around and made Asil furious.
As Al pointed out, he could pull out the real weapon he hid on his body and forcibly catch him.
But he couldn’t.
Asil, to vent his anger, swung his knuckle-clad fist wide and then stopped for a moment.
“Tsk!”
Heidel, too, took three light steps back.
The red-haired elf whistled.
“Phew. Running after a long time loosens up the body.”
“Not that your thighs gave out?”
“Hey, hey. How about you two stop now? Lady Levina’s arms are getting tired from holding the young lady.”
Al subtly tried to mediate.
Levina, without releasing her arms covering Yuriana’s eyes, explained.
“Boss. I’m fine…!”
“… got it.”
Reluctantly, Asil removed the knuckles from his hands.
He swore to the sky that if he hadn’t brought his daughter, he would have ended it here.
Eventually, they compromised and went into the Fatima Hotel to settle down.
Yuriana was eager to eavesdrop on their close conversation.
She also wanted to greet Heidel, show her charm, and have the honor of touching the elf’s ears.
When would she ever have such an experience again? It was an elf! And a male protagonist elf!
“Levina!”
“No, Miss. No daughter runs off to greet her father’s guest without manners.”
“Ugh…”
This time, Levina didn’t yield and was strict.
“Be patient. Boss knows your heart and might give you a chance. Even if not, you must greet that elf politely. Don’t ask random questions!”
Such earnest advice!
But it was all true.
Yuriana reluctantly agreed.
“Okay.”
Karas, with a worried look, also spoke.
“Yuriana, be careful. Elves aren’t necessarily friendly to humans. Rushing to them out of curiosity can be troublesome.”
“Really?”
From the looks of it, the Lord of Dark Town seemed to know that elf from before.
According to Al, it was Heidel from the Allied Forces, who stepped up for the reconstruction of Elodia.
‘Anyway, he must be an amazing person.’
Karas didn’t know much about that but was more concerned about the fact that he was an elf.
He was worried that the curious Yuriana might get hurt by approaching recklessly.
“There’s a saying that dark elves are cunning, but elves are definitely a different race from humans. Have you heard that?”
“What?”
Karas unintentionally said it.
“Elves cherish their children. So, elves without babies sometimes kidnap human infants and raise them. And it doesn’t end there. They raise them till old age, making them ignorant of the world even when they’re old.”
“Eek!”
Yuriana, who had a slight trauma from being kidnapped, was overly frightened, and Levina quickly embraced her.
“Miss, it’s okay. This Levina will protect you.”
“Huh…?”
‘Oops.’
While Al, who knew the situation, sighed, Karas was extremely flustered.
He didn’t know about Yuriana’s sad past due to his not-so-good information network.
“Why…?”
“Come, Miss. It’s okay. Just sit here for a moment.”
Levina didn’t blame Karas, who didn’t know the situation, but instead used a note to briefly explain in Imperial language what she had learned about the slave hunters.
Finally understanding the reason, Karas almost cried while apologizing.
“I… I’m sorry. Yuriana, I didn’t know. I said something scary…”
“It’s okay.”
Yuriana was frightened for a moment but didn’t have a fit.
Honestly, it was natural for people to be horrified or disgusted by such stories.
She didn’t want to make Karas or Levina worry unnecessarily.
She was a happy, healthy, and confident Yuriana.
They didn’t have to look at her with pity, worrying unnecessarily!
“I was wrong.”
As Karas apologized again, she spoke firmly.
“No, Karas. Thank you for telling me. It’s better to know in advance than to be kidnapped by a bad elf and raised ignorant of the world until old age.”
