I Became a Yakuza's Daughter

Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Disciplinary Committee (2)

“I thought I was going to die.”

Noa collapsed onto the desk with an exhausted face.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m not okay.”

“Noa always deflates whenever she sees Kako-sama.”

Chise chuckled because Noa’s deflated state was adorable.

“By the way, what are we going to do about buying furniture with personal funds? I did prepare some just in case.”

Noa shook her head vigorously from side to side.

“If we get caught, we die.”

“Th-That’s true, I guess?”

It wasn’t a joke—there was a real shadow of death in Noa’s eyes.

“We must not do anything that displeases Mama.”

“Mm. Then using personal funds is a no-go.”

Noa nodded.

“For now, let’s just endure it. Chise, don’t go asking people to kill someone just because you don’t like them.”

“Noa… I’ve never done that.”

Chise laughed awkwardly.

Noa rested her chin on her hand and thought.

“I wonder how much our budget will be. It’d be nice if we had enough to buy a sofa.”

“Don’t worry. I heard that most of the student council budget is allocated to the Disciplinary Committee.”

That was good news.

Honestly, I didn’t like being a disciplinary officer at first.

But I can skip class whenever I want, and the clubroom is actually pretty cozy.

Isn’t this secretly a cushy job?

‘I should turn the clubroom into my hideout.’

With that happy thought, Noa smirked.

If I decorate the clubroom nicely, I can come here to nap whenever I get the chance.

“First, let’s go collect our budget!”

**

After receiving a bankbook and a card, Noa and Chise returned to the clubroom.

“Being in the same club as Noa—I’m already so excited!”

Chise’s eyes sparkled excessively, while Noa, looking uninterested, took a candy out of her pocket and popped it into her mouth.

‘Ten million won, huh.’

The budget allocated to them was one million yen.

This school sure was rich.

“Gasp.”

Suddenly, Chise covered her mouth with both hands and looked at Noa in disbelief.

“What’s wrong?”

“T-This can’t be happening.”

Chise stumbled backward and collapsed onto the floor.

“After school, I get to live in the dorms with Noa.”

“And?”

“I’m so happy! I feel like I’m going to die from happiness! Is it even okay to be this happy? Huh? Huh?”

Noa stared at her with a genuinely disgusted expression.

“Noa… no matter what, that expression really hurts.”

“Enough. Let’s just go buy the furniture.”

“O-Okay.”

Chise set a tablet down on the floor.

It was a catalog. If they chose something from here, the store would deliver and install it for them.

“One million yen is seriously stingy.”

Kids these days.

They don’t understand the value of money.

As someone who had lived as a poor commoner, Noa glared at the spoiled Chise and held out her hand.

“One million yen is plenty. Give it to me.”

Noa picked up the tablet.

Having survived in her past life, she knew what she was doing.

Far more than the clueless Chise.

Tap, tap.

Chise smiled brightly as she watched Noa concentrate.

To be honest, when it came to money, no one could compare to the Fujiwara Family.

Fujiwara always found the most efficient way to work, even while complaining about having little money.

Chise planned to use only half of the budget and invest the rest since there were no rules prohibiting it.

But what did it matter?

As long as Noa felt even a little satisfied, that was enough.

“Hmm. I found something nice.”

“Let me see too!”

“No.”

Noa hugged the tablet to her chest like a child refusing to give up their toy.

Chise smiled brightly and nodded.

“Alright, alright. I’ll just trust you and wait.”

After some time passed, Noa wiped her sweat and handed over the tablet.

“Are you done?”

“I barely managed to decide.”

“Great, let’s take a look then.”

Chise took the tablet with a cheerful face.

Honestly, no matter what Noa had picked, she planned to buy it without any changes and shower her with compliments.

‘Noa acts all cold, but she loves praise.’

This was the perfect chance to earn some points!

And after that, they’d live together in the dormitory…

Ahem.

Chise stopped herself from daydreaming and focused on the furniture in the catalog.

Let’s see…

“Huh? It’s already purchased.”

“There was no reason to hesitate.”

Noa sucked on her candy and tucked her hands into her coat pockets.

That attitude was just like her.

Chise opened the purchase history.

“…Eh.”

Cracks formed in Chise’s smile.

With trembling hands, she rubbed her eyes.

But no matter how much she rubbed, the item didn’t change.

- Luxury Italian Sofa

That was the only thing listed.

And it was exactly one million yen.

“This is a joke, right…?”

“I don’t lie.”

“Let me ask just one thing. Why a sofa…?”

“Because I wanted one.”

“…Yeah, I figured. But still, tell me. Why did you pick a one-million-yen sofa?”

“Cheap sofas make my shoulders ache. Honestly, even a one-million-yen sofa is below my standards, but I’ll let it slide just this once.”

Minamoto Noa.

The same person who went “Tsk, tsk, kids these days,” at Chise.

The same person who scolded her for reckless spending and not understanding the value of money.

But in reality, she was a rich girl who couldn’t tolerate cheap things either.

**

Today, more than ever, Chise wanted to flick Noa on the forehead as she walked proudly ahead.

But that was impossible.

Because behind Noa’s innocent face, which might as well have had “I am harmless” written on it, was an automatic counterattack system.

Even without that, seeing Noa look so happy made it hard to scold her.

Chise took quick steps toward Noa and grabbed her hand.

The soft, warm sensation helped calm her down a little.

This month’s club activities were going to be financially tight, but there was always next month.

And more importantly, today was their **first day moving into the dorms together**.

She didn’t want to ruin such a special day.

“Wow! The dorms!”

After finishing their registration, they received the dormitory rulebook and two keycards.

This was the dormitory of Japan’s most prestigious academy.

Noa assumed the facilities would be top-notch.

But then, she made a bitter expression.

“What is this?”

From the outside, the building had a decent design.

It wasn’t outdated at all.

But the inside was terrible.

It was about as old as the 200-year-old Minamoto estate.

‘It’s small. And old.’

It was just a standard one-room apartment.

Two beds took up half of the space.

There was a sink and a small dining area—just enough to live in.

It wasn’t completely unlivable.

But for Noa, who had already grown used to the Fujiwara Family’s luxurious mansions and villas, this was a huge disappointment.

“The bed is cute! The furniture is super cute! It even smells like Minamoto!”

Of course, Chise's eyes sparkled with excitement.

Noa didn’t like it at all.

“There must be bigger and better dorm rooms available.”

“Ah, ahaha. I don’t know. Why was this room assigned to us…”

Chise scratched her cheek awkwardly.

Naturally, there were plenty of dorm rooms better than this one.

This was a school for the wealthy, after all. There were rooms structured better than luxury studio apartments.

Chise was the one who chose this place. From the beginning, she had fallen in love with the room’s layout at first sight.

‘I can’t believe a room this small actually exists!’

Noa just thought of it as ‘a slightly cramped studio.’

But to Chise, this room was like something out of a myth.

People actually live in a room like this? That’s what she thought.

‘This is great, isn’t it… The real thing is even more amazing. I can live while brushing up against Noa.’

A frantic morning.

In the cramped room, as they bumped into each other while getting ready for school, a sudden question was asked.

“Noa! Where’s my panties?”

“Ah, sorry. I wore them.”

“Ugh, well, it can’t be helped. Then I’ll just wear yours…”

‘Ehehehehe.’

Chise took a sharp breath. Just imagining it was the best.

This is dangerous.

She wiped the corner of her mouth with her sleeve.

“What are you doing?”

“Ah, nothing, nothing at all.”

Noa glanced at Chise suspiciously before loosening her tie.

She casually tossed her socks aside and lay down on the bed.

Then, slipping her hand inside her clothes, she wiggled around for a moment before pulling out her bra and tossing it towards the window.

Chise, staring blankly at the scene, suddenly realized something.

‘…Since the room is small, does that mean we’ll be changing clothes while facing each other?’

Ah. No more.

Chise felt like she was running out of oxygen. If she thought about it any longer, she might get a nosebleed.

“The bed is hard too. We should just order a new one. That much should be fine.”

Two small beds were spaced apart just enough.

Noa tended to roll around a lot in her sleep. For some reason, she had a feeling she might fall off.

Just as she was about to call Suzuki to place an order—

Chise was faster. She was already on the phone, giving instructions.

“Yes. This is Fujiwara. Hanaka-san, please use all of Fujiwara’s authority to secure a queen-sized bed. I’m giving you one day. You must complete this task. This takes top priority over anything else.”

Sharing a bed with Noa!

It was the moment when Chise’s long-cherished dream was coming true.

**

“Is that true? The disciplinary committee chairman is Minamoto?”

“That’s right… Is there a problem?”

“Of course! You know exactly why I chose Saints, don’t you, old man?”

Ichinose Yuria slammed her hands on the pub table and stood up.

“Hey, noisy girl over there, bring me a bottle of soju!”

“Yes, yes!”

Yuria swiftly served the order, her apron fluttering, before returning with an annoyed expression.

“The only reason I chose that filthy Saints Academy was to make sure my disciplinary committee duties weren’t interfered with! But Minamoto, of all people… Minamoto!”

“The Minamoto family is an ancient and prestigious lineage in Japan.”

“That’s something only your generation would think! Minamoto is just a nuisance family that added extra pages to the history books!”

“Haha, a family with such deep history and tradition doesn’t collapse so easily. They’re simply gathering themselves for now.”

‘You call that an explanation?!’

Yuria’s expression darkened.

Her dream was to become a prosecutor.

Her goal was to protect citizens and ensure no one suffered unjustly.

That’s why she joined the disciplinary committee at Saints back in middle school.

Since top students from affiliated middle schools could choose to join either the student council or the disciplinary committee in their first year, it had been an option available to her.

It wasn’t quite fulfilling her dream, but the activities excited her—at least for a while.

Then, she hit a wall of reality.

The disciplinary committee chairman in her second year came from a weak family.

What she had envisioned as a powerful committee turned out to be a joke.

All they did was measure skirt lengths and check if ties were crooked.

Even when they tried to be more involved, the police just treated them like kids playing pretend and refused to cooperate.

Every time she faced disappointment due to their lack of authority, she swore to herself—

By her third year of middle school, she would make sure to choose a proper committee leader!

Thankfully, this year, there were rumors that the heir of the famous ‘Fujiwara’ family was enrolling.

Without hesitation, she picked the first-year committee.

…And yet it turned out to be Minamoto?

She had wanted to be part of a disciplinary committee led by Fujiwara.

Not some outdated relic like Minamoto.

“This won’t do. I’ll have to go tell them to resign immediately.”

“Haha, if it were that easy, someone else would have already taken the position.”

“Hah! She’s just a pampered rich girl. A little intimidation, and she’ll realize this isn’t the place for her.”

Yuria rotated her shoulders as she walked out of the pub.

“Yuria! If you don’t finish your shift, you’re not getting paid this month!”

“Ugh, ahem. I guess I’ll have to postpone my grand mission until tomorrow…”

Glancing at the old man warily, Yuria sheepishly returned to the pub.
