Chapter 13
The temple was located in the center of the capital.
After receiving the urgent report, the high priest was shocked and went down to the basement.
After passing through several secret passages that no one who comes to the temple would guess, he arrived at a large laboratory.
The high priest approached Rivena, who was sitting in the laboratory with a serious expression.
“Rivena! Is that report true?”
The young woman named Rivena was a beautiful woman with flowing red hair.
She was wearing a lab coat, not a priest’s suit, but belonged to a temple.
“You mean to tell me that the divine beast might have the side effect of seeing the future?”
At the words of the high priest, Rivena slowly nodded her head.
“According to my research results, that’s true. It’s a side effect from the magic power of the Duke of Medes operation that was injected to increase the survival rate of the new creature this time.”
“So, how on earth does it see the future?”
“To be exact, it’s not about seeing the future, but rather, a self is created that recognizes one of the many future paths as the content of the book. The future is not fixed. Perhaps this experiment is messed up because it’s about time and space.”
“It’s complicated.”
“Well, if you don’t understand, I’m not going to explain it any further, because it was a really complicated experiment.”
“But what’s the problem If a divine beast sees a piece of the future?”
“It wouldn’t be very meaningful if it just remained a squirrel.”
In response to the question from the high priest, Rivena breathed in frustration and answered.
“The problem is when that divine beast becomes human after learning about the future.”
“Become human? Don’t worry about that.”
At those words, the high priest waved his hand and said:
“Because it’s only sold to people who don’t have much magical power anyway. And it’s not that easy to find people with powerful magical powers that can turn them into humans.”
The book states that the humanization of a divine beast has only happened once in the past. That was so long ago that it wasn’t even properly recorded.
So the temple has always been careful to prevent the divine beast from becoming human.
They didn’t sell them to people who actually had a lot of magic.
A few years ago, when Duke Hyrad came to say that he needed a divine beast, the temple expressed the opinion that ‘it’s not that bad, so you can endure it.’
People said that the temple was an upstanding organization that didn’t try to make a profit off of it.
They only sold it to people who didn’t necessarily need the calming effect but wanted it for show-off purposes.
For example, the most recent one sold went to the second son of the Duke of Hyrad, who appeared to have almost no magical power.
But Rivena’s expression did not soften.
“I have a problem with this, so I think we should get rid of the divine beast we sold this time.”
“Hmm….”
The high priest blinked in confusion.
“It’s a divine beast sold to a great noble family, not anywhere else, but It’s the Duke of Hyrad, so it’s even harder to approach that family. Besides, Tezen Hyrad doesn’t even have a decent amount of magic.”
“But if that divine beast realizes that it is human, there is a high possibility that that divine beast is likely to make a big deal out of it. We have to somehow bring it here and get rid of it.”
“Well, ordinary divine beasts don’t have a strong will to become human. Didn’t countless divine beasts live and die as squirrels without any problems?”
“But is it really necessary to leave a risk factor? I feel uneasy, and I want to deal with it even if it’s difficult.”
“Huh.”
The high priest nodded as if he had no choice but to accept Ribena’s strong attitude.
“Okay, I understand.”
“Thank you.”
“Well, it seems like the Duchess knows that her son isn’t a great wizard, so she’ll give it back if we give her double the price.”
He continued speaking, taking off his priestly attire.
In the dark night, the temple without any moonlight was even darker.
The expressions of the people plotting old, dark schemes there were rather calm.
“Or she could ask for something from the temple, then the conversation will be easier. I must meet the Duchess of Hyrad tomorrow.”
The high priest stroked his beard.
“I’ll bring it back, and we’ll dispose of that divine beast.”

For a month, time passed very peacefully.
Every night I went to see Yohan and absorbed his magic, and Yohan’s expression became more and more calm.
In reality, the magical power that was running wild in his body was being organized every day.
‘Hmm, this… ‘
I tilted my head as I watched Yohan’s complexion getting better day by day.
I knew he was handsome, but he is getting more and more handsome.’
The feeling of being petty and pitiful when I first saw him slowly faded away as his sick complexion disappeared.
And at some point, it looked like he had washed up before I arrived.
Judging by the smell of not-so-good-quality soap, the moisture in his bangs, and other such things.
Besides, his clothes were much neater than when we first met.
‘Haha, villains are supposed to be sexy.’
From some point on, Yohan had been giving off a charming rather than grim vibe.
Especially when I visit him at night, when he would pick me up and lay me down next to him in bed and stroke me.
‘You’ll grow up well.’
A high nose, pure white skin, deep eyes, sharp jawline, and even a mischievous smile like a boy…It was truly a feast for the eyes, incomparable to Tezen.
‘Don’t be evil now, since you’re not sick anymore. You’ll succeed anyway, so don’t do anything bad for no reason.’
I thought as I rolled around in his palm.
I felt as if I was blessing the future of my grandson.
‘Just let Mariel go and be happy with the crown prince…because you’re destined for wealth and honor in life anyway.’
In the original story, Yohan falls in love with Mariel at first sight.
For him, who has been isolated for a long time in the duke’s mansion and has traveled through the harsh battlefields, the warmth of Mariel is something he has never felt before.
‘But I did a good job.’
Yohan always told me, ‘It’s nice not to be alone.’ So there was definitely the potential for a twist.
If things continued like this, he might not be a villain with a ruined personality, but rather a serious and kind-hearted adult.
In reality, he wasn’t very good at saying mean things.
“Momo, are you going?”
When it was time for me to go back, he would make a pitiful expression and look gloomy.
“You have to come tomorrow too because, without you, I’ll be alone…”
It seemed a bit weak, but it meant that it wasn’t the first time he felt warmth.
‘Wait a minute, so that first warmth was me?’
I closed my eyes pleasantly as I felt Yohan’s touch, but then a sudden thought crossed my mind.
‘No way…He can’t be in love with me, who is human on the inside but a squirrel on the outside.’
Yohan and I couldn’t even communicate properly.
I wanted to learn how to write because I was so frustrated, but I couldn’t even say it, so the situation itself was hopeless.
‘Or maybe he likes my human form that he had seen before?’
I’m not a beauty like Mariel either.
Well, I don’t know what I look like either, so there was no way to tell.
‘Then grow up well. If you grow up to be a good adult, she might be able to accept you.’
Yohan was handsome and was destined to become a war hero and Duke of Hyrad.
Even though he gets lonely easily and is a bit weak-hearted…Well, he was okay because he had a strong heart.
According to the original story, he has a bit of an obsessive nature, but if he grows up well, he will learn to control it on his own.
So, there was no reason to refuse if he grew up well.
Anyway, my plan was going smoothly for a month.
On the day that Yohan went to war, I became a human and then I asked Yohan to erase the Duke of Hyrad’s symbol and escape.
While I was walking around the duke’s mansion, I also found a laundry room where maids’ uniforms were piled up.
I could borrow some of Yohan’s clothes, change into a maid’s uniform that fit me there, and then go out.
“Momo.”
Suddenly, Yohan gently touched my nose.
“Huh? Why are you so sleepy lately? Are you tired?”
I must have closed my eyes without realizing it. I was tired though.
To prepare for any eventuality, I went to Yohan at night and monitored Ella’s daily routine during the day.
I hid acorns in the corner, pretending to listen to Tezen, who did not really need to calm down.
For a month, Tezen had been paying less and less attention to me. So I was able to walk around the mansion.
Once I leave Tezen’s room, I can go wherever I want by climbing the tree trunk.
I was small enough to be invisible to others, and also fast enough.
Anyone who saw me thought I was just an ordinary squirrel, not a divine beast unless they checked my chest.
“Kyuuung.”
I sighed and rolled around in his palm.
‘How could you, a young and fragile villain, know the earnest desire to become human?’
And the next day, a little over a month later.
I learned important information that was enough to compensate for the fatigue I felt during that time.
