I Became a Person Who Wanted To Drop Out of the Academy

chapter 6

Life’s Not Beautiful 2 –

‘What kind of deranged thought is this?’

The fact that the principal didn’t expel me for my foolish act could be possible.

In the worldview of WFS, that was Sergey Darmore’s personality.

Considering his attitude towards his betrayed disciple, it was appropriate to act like this within certain limits. If that old lady knew the fact that I was Sergey, he would have cursed her during the interview, too.

However, he is not a person who only moves like an NPC according to a certain rule.

On Earth, he was an NPC, but in the story, he appeared to be a living creature.

The example of this was casually torturing and killing a traitor who leaked confidential information.

If you cross a certain line, the principal should definitely expel me.

But to subdue himself?

‘Something exists.’

He doesn’t know much about me.

But I know a lot about him.

There is definitely some reason if he clearly gave a path like this.

The fact that he will expel only if he is defeated.

In other words, if you can’t win, it means you will never be expelled.

Thus, at least he doesn’t want to expel me for some reason.

‘Expulsion is a punishment, not a reward… If you want to leave school, drop out. Why attach such a codicil.’

People interpret this as if I am just protesting because they don’t know that other people are unable to drop out due to the contract. Or they might want to mess with my family.

Of course, I can’t say it’s unfair because the principal knows my circumstances.

Of course, even if it’s the principal, there is a limit.

Whether it’s because of his judgment, or because of someone else’s geomancy.

At least if a problem exceeds a certain limit, the principal will ultimately have to expel me.

‘How do you manage public opinion?’

Anyhow, I have openly asked to be expelled. Some quick-witted guys will realize that my actions are to be expelled for some reason.

Then, depending on my actions, people will ask why they don’t expel me when what I want is to expel them.

Such public opinion will help me leave the academy.

‘Time is on my side.’

My current plan has not been postponed for even a week. There is plenty of time.

So I just need to do well in the future. I have a lot of crazy things to do in four years anyway.

—-

In the end, Professor Rachel told me that it was impossible for me to be expelled. Instead, he said he would assign me to Class A.

It wasn’t exactly the result I was hoping for, but I did manage to get into the advanced class which was my initial goal.

Students with high grades receive a lot of attention and are relatively more prone to controversy. Of course, it can be difficult to expel them because of their high grades, but if the principal, like this time, doesn’t plan to kick me out, then stirring up trouble is more likely to succeed.

A title like [Serial Delinquent With 11 Charges, Ends in Murder…]

compared to [Side Effect of Extreme Desire for Study. The Top Student Maintaining Calmness Under Any Circumstances by Meditating While Studying…] is more provocative and controversial.

Wait, that’s actually a pretty good strategy when I think about it. Even if I feel embarrassed later on, I should give it a try if there’s a need to get expelled.

Walking with this thought, before realizing it, I was standing in front of the classroom that was assigned to me.

Class A. The classroom boasting the highest grades.

The consolation prize Rachel Professor gave me after failing to expel me.

I opened the door and entered right away.

Creak-

As soon as I opened the door and entered, everyone was looking at me.

Although it differed from the usual academy, as there were only two people in the class.

Both didn’t seem to have any distinct features, just ordinary faces.

As I walked in and sat down, the two people briefly cast a surprised glance. But I simply ignored their reactions and thought about how to give a taste of their own medicine to the principal.

Just as I was waiting for a moment, more people started to arrive.

And they also reacted in the same way. Their expressions saying what’s he doing here?

I wouldn’t expect the guy who asked the professor for expulsion to be in Class A, too.

And, then…

“Why are you here?”

I met someone I know.

Not through the WFS, but someone I got to know after reincarnating here.

“I wasn’t able to get expelled.”

“Sigh- What’s the reason?”

“The principal said the professor’s authority is insufficient, and told me to fight with him. If I win, he would expel me.”

“What kind of bull is that?”

This guy is Theseus Winterfield, the eldest son of the Northern Great Duke and my friend.

He’s an aristocrat and higher in status than me, but we’ve been friends since we were children.

I don’t know what role the Northern Great Duke holds, but it’s good to get along with him as he’s got a high position.

As we two were talking, people continued to arrive and take seats. It’s definitely the first lesson and according to the academy curriculum, shared lectures are supposed to be held in this classroom but no one came near us.

One is the successor of a ducal family, and the other a second son of a marquis family who is also rumored to be crazy.

Ding-

The bell signaling the end of time rang. Theseus, who was standing next to me, moved to somewhere else.

Everyone seemed to be waiting then taking their seats.

Since I would have to see these people for at least a few weeks if I didn’t get expelled in the meantime, I checked out the surroundings.

Three women with striking beauty stood out.

One handsome man.

And a man with such a strong presence.

And two bastards I’ve known from before.

Then the door abruptly swung open with a bang, and a man entered the lecture hall.

“Greetings Academy cadets, my name is Maximilian Wilhelm. I am the martial arts instructor for the A-Class in the Established Academy.”

“Why is that guy coming here?”

It was none other than the professor who dragged me to the entrance ceremony on the enrolment day, Maximilian Wilhelm, had just stormed into the classroom.

And the classroom became even noisier.

“Isn’t that The Young Master?”

“Are we supposed to be in his class?”

“If you’re in class A, that level is expected. Only the top students from Gerib Academy are in Class A.”

Was it the backlash of doing business instead of gathering common sense, thinking I knew WFS well?

I just couldn’t find a place to join. The two guys, Theseus and Lucas, seemed to know too.

While everyone was talking about a person that everyone seemed to know except me,

Someone asked a question that seemed curious.

“But why did professor come here? A class isn’t just filled with students intending to major in martial arts.”

“Eventually, won’t it be divided into various majors such as magic, alchemy, or dark magic?”

Several people were questioning the professor, wondering why a martial arts expert would show up before students even picked their majors.

It’s a good point. We didn’t choose our majors yet.

It’s not like a college, but as an academy that replaces collegiate education, majors should exist.

So far, the academy has not implemented such a curriculum.

Why is that?

Usually, this info would be available.

Since I’m from modern times, I felt something strange. So, I stayed quiet until the professor replied.

“That’s an excellent point. The reason for this is because there was a recent change in policy. For the next two weeks, you’ll experiment with any subjects you want to choose and then determine your major. And for the first week, you’ll experience all subjects for a short time.”

Maximilian Wilhelm began to explain the academy’s rules. His eyes were shining more than anything else.

So, I loosely looked at him, trying not to stare. It wasn’t because I didn’t like looking at him but because his passionate teaching made it hard to focus.

“So this time you will learn about Aura and related matters. I will explain the basics of Aura exactly once, pay attention.”

His lecture, started with that introduction, was pretty well structured.

He did not seem to be wasting his professor position in the academy.

“The stages of Aura are divided into four categories: Aura users, Aura experts, Aura swells, and Aura masters.

Each stage is determined by whether you can handle Aura exposure, Aura bulge, Aura enhancement, or Aura awakening.”

In the WFS worldview, Aura is not magic. Aura changes the individual and impacts the world, while magic changes the world and impacts the individual.

It’s a difference like whether you set yourself on fire to get warm or set a fire to warm yourself.

“Aura Emission is the creation of attraction and repulsion through aura. Aura Bulge is the manipulation of aura beyond its body affecting other substances. Aura Enhancement is the strengthening of the body by infusing aura into the body. And Aura Awakening is the power to change the world through aura.”

And it is divided into various details such as Aura Levitation, Aura Support, Aura Perception, Complete Aura-Awakening.

However, the martial arts professor did not explain that far.

“Well, there will be students who want to major in magic or alchemy, so let’s just stop here for now. Meanwhile, my work is already determined.”

The Martial arts professor abruptly stops talking and mentions he has something to do.

“Now is the time to start practice fighting.”

We just did that yesterday.

What is he talking about?

“Everyone, pair up with a combat partner. I won’t take any arguments.”

As the professor’s words echoed, panic started to spread in the classroom. This classroom gathered those with high grades, not fighters.

There were those who were confident about practice fighting and had already done it, and there were those who had talents in academic areas such as alchemy or mathematics and had chosen those areas.

Yet, they say they’ll arrange a match for all of them. Even during the team assignment test, these guys had to take a different kind of test.

As if anticipating my thoughts, the professor supplemented the explanation.

“Of course, it’s limited to those who major in martial and magical arts.”

Fortunately, the professor showed mercy to a few, suggesting my worry was unfounded.

Several students from different departments breathed a sigh of relief at the explanation.

And I have chosen martial arts. I can use magic, but I hate having to study it again even after reincarnation, so I didn’t study much.

Conclusion: I am to participate in the match.

And faster to catch on, others started pairing up.

And the Northern Duke sitting next to me immediately betrayed me.

“For your information, I’m not going to be with you.”

“Why?”

“Do you forget what you did in the match?

Ah, how did he know? I’ve been sucking honey with a broken heart.

With that, the defector ended up pairing up with my other friend, Lucas.

And I tried to find someone else, but…

“Excuse me…”

“Sorry.”

“Well, I’m not in martial arts.”

“Regrettably…”

Nobody wanted to pair up with me, and I ended up being alone.

Interestingly enough, the number of participants who can directly participate in the match is odd.

So, in the end…

“Abraxas Mentuthotep, you’ll have to face me in the match.”

In the end, my opponent was decided to be the martial arts professor, Maximilian Vilhelm.

“By the way, if you’re thinking about surrendering now, put it aside. If not, I’ll fold you up.”

For a moment, the thought crossed my mind that if my body was folded and I was kicked out of the academy, it might be a benefit.

But I decided to bear with it, because I think he will literally fold my body and kill me.
