I Became a Malicious Streamer

Chapter 168

The much-talked-about and eventful EOW streamer tournament has come to a close.

After two weeks of what was quite a long time for content, it felt quite substantial to finally wrap things up.

Especially since practice continued whether the broadcast was live or off. It truly felt like the line between work and life had blurred.

We only turned on the stream when we thought the practice was something we could show, and turned it off for more serious strategic discussions.

Honestly, I didn’t intend to get this involved when I took the position of director. But the atmosphere was so charged with excitement from the contest, I felt too guilty to slack off alone…

And somehow, that’s how I ended up getting really into it.

Plus, we had a demon in our team gunning for victory. I couldn’t ignore someone who was willing to burn all their efforts. That person was also one of my friends. Though they didn’t actually win in the end.

Well, they did well enough to be satisfied with second place. If they feel dissatisfied, they can aim for victory next time. There will always be more tournaments and plenty of time ahead.

Daesik asked to be chosen as a player again for next time, but honestly, I wonder if I’ll even participate as a director again. That will depend on how I feel when the tournament comes around. I participated this time on quite a whim.

In the end, it wasn’t a bad experience. Even though we were an amateur team, when would I ever get to boss people around and take on a director role? Sure, I’ve taught a few things during streams, but doing it so formally was a first.

It was fun, and I had the chance to build quite a few memories with people. But still, I can’t deny that I was tired.

I realized I’d pushed myself harder than usual. But unlike before, I should be grateful I didn’t feel like a ragdoll.

Anyway, I think it’s time to take a break. I’ll reduce outside activities and plan on doing calm solo streams instead of joint content with other streamers.

So, I habitually logged onto the cafe, thinking I’d pick out an interesting game from the recommendations on the fan cafe.

But something caught my eye as I logged in.

– I’m reflecting a lot…

– Please forgive me just this once, it was a mistake.

– I’m curious about the ban reason.

“Looks like there are a lot of posts asking to unban…”

While I usually have many viewers, during tournaments, that number skyrockets. This time, the peak viewer count reached 48,000.

It’s a staggering number that’s hard to comprehend. And with the chat in slow mode, the pace felt pretty much the same as usual.

I read through each post in the unban request category.

There were existing viewers and also newcomers who joined through this tournament. Different people, but they all said the same thing; please unban them.

“Hmm…”

Speaking of which, I recently appointed a new chat manager. Si-young, who had been managing the chat before, did hand over the reins well, but I didn’t really check how they were handling things.

There might have been some mistakes. It hadn’t been long since I handed over chat management, and suddenly the flood of people came in.

I wanted to check for myself what kind of chat led to these bans. After all, my rules aren’t that strict.

Should I do an autopsy on the broadcast to figure it out? It didn’t take long to decide. If I want to do it, I just do it.

Now that the tournament is over, the next stream will be a viewer autopsy content. I’ll investigate what these people said to get banned, and if it doesn’t seem too serious, I might just unban them.

Should I call it a sort of second-place celebration? There are so many people who got banned.

“It might be a bit boring just to check the chat logs.”

Thinking this way, I decided to add a few rules for broadcasting fun.

Those who want to be unbanned can have their chat logs reviewed, and they can seek a lawyer to defend themselves. If they don’t have one, they can represent themselves.

Of course, if there’s a lawyer, there should be a prosecutor too. The lawyer defends the banned person while the prosecutor argues to keep the ban in place.

It could be seen as a kind of debate content, like a mini courtroom of Mollru.

Ultimately, I am the one with the final decision. It’s my job to decide whether or not to lift the ban after listening to the lawyer.

With my thoughts sorted, I posted on the cafe.

Looking for people asking for unban and those willing to be lawyers or prosecutors.

Mollru is live!

– Celebration broadcast for second place!

[Chatting Room]

[Special broadcast entry, lol]

[How do you even get banned??]

[The chat is usually pretty lenient, though.]

[Unless you’re doing some extreme harassment…]

[Whoa]

[Celebration for second place…Hmm… It would have been cooler if it was a victory celebration.]

[Second place is still quite an achievement!]

[Daesik’s sobbing, ㅠㅠ Daesik’s sobbing, ㅠㅠ]

[Whether it’s second place or first place, who cares, lol, Mollru didn’t even compete.]

“Oh, hello everyone. Today is the celebration broadcast for second place. We’re going to look into the nature of the crimes of those who got banned. If you’re not that heinous and seem remorseful with room for improvement, I’ll consider unbanning you.”

It’s a day after I posted the notice and took another break. I selected about five people who asked to be unbanned and gathered five each for lawyers and prosecutors.

The requests to unban were a lot more than I expected, and I was somewhat surprised by the number of lawyer and prosecutor volunteers.

[Sounds fun, lol]

[Let’s unban the wrongfully banned.]

[Those who just make the chat dirty…]

[We have both lawyers and prosecutors; is this some courtroom drama?]

“Enough chit-chat! Let’s dive right in! I’m your judge Mollru for today’s unban trial.”

I revealed the hidden camera feed and gave a polite bow. I also dressed in a suit to fit the judge role.

In a black suit. I thought about wearing a judge’s robe, but who knows when that would arrive with the order and it felt too much, so I settled for this look.

[Whoa]

[Moll judge! Moll judge!]

[Your Honor, heehee…]

[Black suit Mollru, wow!]

[This is different from the usual hoodie looks, lol.]

[As the tradition goes, when wearing a black suit it’s time for an apology stream.]

[Go ahead and apologize.]

“I, Judge Mollru, will decide whether to lift the ban based on the statements from the lawyers and prosecutors. Now that the explanation is done, let’s get started.”

[Defendant, lol.]

[Treating them like a minor criminal, lol.]

[If you chat inappropriately, you’re a criminal, yeah.]

[If you want to complain, just type nice chats, ah, lol.]

[Let’s see what kind of chats they typed.]

I operated the screen to display the first defendant’s chat logs.

– 00:22 Mingdu: The manager is the best!

– 00:24 Mingdu: I

– 00:24 Mingdu: Rock

– 00:25 Mingdu: I love Mollru!

– 03:42 Mingdu: Mollru and I are in love.

– 04:21 Mingdu: Another boring joke, lol.

– 05:22 Mingdu: Mollru is my wife.

[Oh no… this is disgraceful.]

[What a delusional person;]

[Mollru and I are in love, are you kidding? lol.]

[This is the best, they’re spiraling down, lol.]

[Just a typical Molbu fan, huh.]

[This is what happens when you fall into the sauce.]

“Alright, so we’ve got Mingdu here. As you can see, the chat you sent has been a while since you got banned. Usually, those who got banned during this tournament were more recent cases, but this one’s a little different.”

I scrolled back through their chat history.

“Looks like you’ve been a viewer for a while. You used to send nice chats during the early days of the stream, so what happened? Oh, it started after the face reveal? Seems like it really did go downhill since then. The reason for the ban is… excessive use of chats that cause discomfort to others. What do you think, prosecutor?”

The prosecutor, waiting at the side, responded.

“Looking at the chats, it’s clear they’re excessively revealing affection for Mollru. There’s no romantic relationship, yet the repeated declarations of love are inappropriate. Claiming Mollru is their wife, that’s enough to cause discomfort not just to Mollru, but also to other viewers who are trying to enjoy the stream. I believe it’s entirely reasonable for them to be banned.”

“Ah, I see your point. I agree to a certain extent. Now, let’s hear what the defense has to say. It certainly seems difficult to defend this defendant…”

From across Discord, I heard a hesitant throat clear before the self-proclaimed lawyer began their defense.

“Um, yes, I’m the lawyer. Before proceeding, may I say just one thing?”

“Sure, lawyer. Go ahead.”

“The defendant has a disability.”

It was such an unexpected statement that I was momentarily taken aback.

What on earth was that supposed to mean?
