Chapter 54 - Orc Lord
At the forefront of the Drakemen cavalry that charged into the flank of the Orc forces was none other than Seri, their commander and general.
Thud—Crunch!
Crack!
Crunch!
After piercing and grinding through four medium-grade Orc warriors using the cavalry lance (Anitheus) in her hand, she immediately changed Anitheus’s form back to a greatsword and began swinging.
Although she was just swinging the weapon without using psychics to conserve energy, the combination of two high-grade monsters and a skilled user comparable to high-grade was still displaying combat power beyond imagination.
Dozens of Orcs are dismembered with each swing of her sword, and as Ironbreaker, which she’s riding, casually walks and tramples, it crushes all the Orcs in its path.
And as Seri single-handedly crushed the Orcs who came out to try to block the charge because they were somewhat strong, shattering the battle line, the vanguard of the Drakemen cavalry that arrived a step late charged right into it.
When a Triceratops gores with its horns, an Ankylosaurus tramples, and the scattered Orcs are hunted by the Drakemen light cavalry following from the rear.
Already at a disadvantage in every aspect and unable to mount their riding beasts on top of that, the Orcs couldn’t even flee, let alone offer meaningful resistance.
Therefore, at this rate, the Orcs were in a situation where they would simply be annihilated, but fortunately for the Orcs—their leader did not sit idly by.
Kuu khu kuuuuuuuuuk (Damn scaly beastssssss)—!!!
The Orc Lord, his face turned completely red perhaps due to anger, appeared shouting like that in Orc language while smashing his dwelling.
In both hands, he held axes made by processing the entire bones of grade 4 sub-dragons (Drakes), and his entire body was covered in barbaric armor made by intricately joining various monster skins and bones.
This giant standing 5 meters tall, with the appearance of a typical Orc barbarian warrior as if he just jumped out of a monitor, charged quickly with his brain consumed by rage and—
Whoosh—Boom!
Starting by swinging his bone axe widely to crush three nearby Drakemen, he began grinding all visible monsters indiscriminately.
The ground splits along the trajectory of the axe glowing red due to its unique red force field, and monsters located on that ground become chunks of meat regardless of friend or foe.
The Orc Lord shows the majesty of a high-grade monster, but there was one who stood in the way of this Orc Lord’s advance—
“Ironbreaker, run!”
[Neigh (Understood)!]
The one charging at the Orc Lord, mounted on the black horse Ironbreaker clad in steel and wielding a huge greatsword (Anitheus), was Seri, the commander of the Drakemen.
“Anitheus!”
Changing Anitheus’s form from a greatsword to dual swords, she infused the force field flowing from inside her armor into the swords.
And immediately after, Seri raised the swords that began to shine as the unique light green-tinged black force field appeared on their surface and swung them towards the Orc Lord, immediately starting an intense battle.
Clang—Boom!
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The metallic sound and shockwaves from the collision of swords and bone axes shake the surroundings.
The ground shakes and clouds in the sky tremble as intense collisions repeat dozens of times in just a few seconds, and after Anitheus and the bone axes collide dozens more times…
Crack… Crunch!
After a cracking sound was heard from the Orc Lord’s bone axe, it finally shattered into pieces from the collision that occurred immediately after.
No matter how good the quality bone axe suitable for even the Orc Lord to use, it can’t be better than a grade 3 monster’s bio-weapon with its own force field plus the wielder’s force field.
Kuuuuuk (Damn it)!
‘…Good!’
So when the Orc Lord spat out curses seeing his axe shattered to pieces, Seri thought this was a chance to gain the upper hand and was about to swing her sword strongly, but…
“—What!!”
Whoosh—Boom!
At that moment when she was momentarily flustered by the sudden change in her body (weakening of psychic body enhancement), the Orc Lord grinned and swung the remaining bone axe with both hands.
Clang!
Of course, Seri deployed her psychic shield and the sword’s psychic shield doubly to defend against this, but the deployed psychic shields were lower in output than usual and shattered in one hit.
‘Why isn’t the psychic activating properly?’
Naturally, Seri couldn’t help but have such doubts, but… she’s still in battle, so she can’t explore or analyze that.
“—Ironbreaker!”
[Neigh (Okay)!]
So Seri first put a bit of distance between herself and the Orc Lord and changed Anitheus’s form to something similar to a glaive, and then while maintaining an appropriate distance, she swung the glaive with one hand while activating telekinesis with the other.
She intended to test psychic use by binding the Orc Lord and then cutting him with the glaive, but…
‘What?!’
As the psychic energy extending from her hand approached the Orc Lord’s surroundings, it began to lose control, and by the time it reached the Orc Lord, it had completely scattered.
‘…Could it be, Anti-Psychic?!’
It was the typical appearance of psychic nullification caused by the Anti-Psychic gene.
‘Ah, aah! That’s right! It was like that!’
And only at the moment she realized this, Seri remembered that the captain had previously informed her that this Orc Lord possessed Anti-Psychic.
Of course, it’s a bit late, but… still, thinking it’s fortunate she remembered even now since winning is all that matters anyway.
“Ironbreaker! Please!”
Anyway, now that she knows about the presence of Anti-Psychic, Seri immediately changed her strategy to maintain distance from the Orc Lord and lengthened the handle of the glaive, more precisely Anitheus, to be able to attack one-sidedly from outside the Anti-Psychic activation range (3 meters).
If the assistance of Ironbreaker with its overwhelming mobility is added to this, Seri can one-sidedly land all of her attacks while completely avoiding the enemy’s attacks, and this is what she was aiming for.
Whoosh—Slash!
Buooooo!!!
‘Good, first one!’
Her movements, combining heaven-sent close combat talent and overwhelming skill bestowed by the Hive Mind, looked completely unified with Ironbreaker she was riding.
On the other hand, in the case of the Orc Lord, despite swinging his one remaining bone axe vigorously, he was barely managing to deflect attacks aimed at vital points.
And if this state continues, even if it takes a little time, she can steadily bring down the Orc Lord as if shaving off his surface, and the Orc Lord naturally knows this well too.
Buooooo!!
‘…Huh? Huh? Hey! Hey? Where are you going??!!’
Perhaps because of this, when Seri put a little distance between them, the Orc Lord suddenly retreated and simultaneously took out a horn trumpet from his waist—and blew it hard.
Buoooooooo!!!!
Perhaps due to the overwhelming lung capacity, the majestic sound from the horn trumpet spread throughout the fortress, and suddenly something burst out from inside as a building in one part of the fortress collapsed.
Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!
The creature that approached making thunderous sounds was a rhinoceros monster so huge that even the 5-meter tall Orc Lord could ride it.
Its skin is made of steel, and the horn protruding from the center of its upper lip is a bio-weapon called an energy horn. This monster’s name is Metalrhino.
It’s a grade 4 large monster, and among the Rhino series monsters that often appear as mounts for large humanoid monsters, it’s one with particularly high defense.
‘…A Rhino, huh?’
Of course, there’s no way Seri wouldn’t recognize something that appeared so dramatically.
Upon immediately confirming the approaching Metalrhino, she unhesitatingly drove Ironbreaker to approach Metalrhino and ordered Ironbreaker.
“Kick it, Ironbreaker!”
Whirr—Boom!
As Ironbreaker infused energy into the Charge Hammer installed in the form of hooves and put full strength into its hind legs, it kicked the charging Metalrhino—and with that, Metalrhino’s internal organs were crushed and it perished.
‘Good!’
It seems the Orc Lord was thinking of mounting Metalrhino to try to get close, but… from the start, there was no possibility given that Ironbreaker is a grade 3 monster.
“Let’s go!”
In the meantime, the Orc Lord took out throwing spears made by carving entire bones, presumably as auxiliary weapons, and started throwing them wildly, but from the beginning, we have the advantage in ranged attacks.
Most of the throwing spears were shot down by icicles created from Anitheus’s psychic cold, and even if they weren’t shot down, they were deflected by the psychic construct shield created by Ironbreaker.
And meanwhile, as the Orc Lord tried to face Seri, who had changed Anitheus into the form of a cavalry lance, with a leather-covered bone shield and axe… the match was already as good as decided.
Immediately after Ironbreaker kicked and shattered the huge tower shield (leather-covered bone shield) that the Orc Lord put forward, Seri struck down Anitheus, infused with a force field radiating light in all directions, from above—
—Swish!
As Anitheus pierced through the Orc Lord’s face and then burst out force field to explode his head, the Orc Lord ended his worthless life.
