Chapter 23: The Arrogance
A year had passed, and Setsuna, now 14 years old, had distanced himself from politics. Little did he know, his decision to leave the political stage strained the relationship between the Senju and Uchiha clans.
This situation unfolded because he was unknowingly manipulated by the plotline, causing his intellect to drop to its lowest level. He failed to realize that he had fallen into Senju Tobirama's trap.
Without Setsuna's reasoning to counterbalance Tobirama's influence, Tobirama successfully implemented policies that shaped Konoha as seen in the original timeline. This strengthened the Senju's political hold, while the Uchiha became increasingly scorned by others.
Hashirama, though a powerful and well-respected Hokage, failed to see Tobirama's cunningness. He noticed that the Uchiha were becoming angrier and that their relationship with the Senju was deteriorating once again. However, this time, instead of Madara silently bearing the injustice, it was Izuna who openly voiced the growing resentment. This almost led to a confrontation between the two clans, and even Hashirama became frustrated with the Uchiha.
Uchiha Hall...
"How did this happen?" asked one elder in disbelief.
"Why are the Senju trying to sabotage the relationship that was going so well?" said another elder.
"It's Tobirama. We failed to stop his policies," said Madara.
"But when did this begin?" asked another Uchiha.
"Since Setsuna left and began studying at the academy," Madara replied.
Madara, along with the Uchiha elders, considered seeking Setsuna's opinion on the growing tensions between their clan and the Senju. However, their pride and ego stopped them from approaching a 14-year-old, even though Setsuna had already proven his brilliance and diplomatic skills. The elders were determined to resolve the issue on their own terms, sidelining Setsuna's potential contributions.
On the other hand, Tobirama was pleased with his success in trapping the Uchiha. His policies had greatly benefited the Senju clan. He believed that if Setsuna had been involved in the political discussions, he wouldn't have succeeded in implementing his new strategies. As a result, the Senju's influence reached new heights, while the Uchiha found themselves squeezed out of power.
Setsuna, the main protagonist, was being manipulated by the plotline. He needed a system or some form of wake up call to break free from this mind-controlling narrative. Naively, he had underestimated the impact of his absence from the political stage, thinking that a single year wouldn't make much difference. Little did he know, he would later regret this decision, eventually leading him to leave Konoha.
Despite the political turmoil, Setsuna enjoyed his time as an academy student. His best friends, Hiroyuki and Haruko Hyuga, were always by his side. He was incredibly popular not just among the students, but also the teachers, who recognized his talent.
In the shadows, Tobirama continued to manipulate the Uchiha clan. Though he was weaker than Madara in combat, he was politically stronger, using his cunning to weaken the once proud and powerful Uchiha.
