Sullivan went home with many snacks he had brought from the convenience store. He had bought a variety of chips, candies, and drinks to enjoy the calories that would kill any normal human.
He unpacked his snacks in his room. And while he was unpacking his snacks, he heard someone knocking on his door. Curious, Sullivan quickly finished unpacking and went to open the door.
He found Rias stood there with a smile.
"Are you free now?"
She asked while looking toward his snacks. Sullivan grinned and gestured towards the snacks, saying,
"Well, I was just about to indulge in these calorie bombs. But for you, I can definitely make some time."
Rias chuckled and followed him into the room. She then sat on the bed and began to explain to him why she had come to his room.
Sullivan sat down next to Rias like it was a normal thing.
"I have talked with my brother and he wanted me to test how strong you are. Are you willing to fight with my peerage by yourself?"
Rias said it straight-forwardly. Sullivan raised an eyebrow, thinking about what Rias just told him.
He leaned back, taking a moment to consider the meaning of her request. After a brief pause, he replied.
"I'm always up for a challenge. And when do we start?"
Sullivan also wanted to know how strong they really were. He was curious to see if they could make him break a sweat. He didn't want to be arrogant but he was sure they couldn't even scratch his skin if they were like in the canon.
Maybe Rias might be able to tickle him with her power of destruction.
"And what about you, Rias? Do you want to spar with me too?"
Rias was surprised by Sullivan's words. She didn't think that he would want to challenge her as well. However, she was never one to back down from a fight.
"I accept your challenge, Sullivan. Let's see if you can handle the power of the devil."
Sullivan smiled when he saw how confident Rias was.
"And we will spar before dinner. Otherwise, the food you eat would be wasted. And I don't like wasting food."
"What a confident"
Rias then went out of the room. Both she and Sullivan saw Koneko poking her head out of the door. She had been eavesdropping on their conversation.
"That's not a good habit, you know that right, Koneko-chan."
Rias sighed and shook her head.
"I am sorry. Buchou. But I smell something very nice so…"
Koneko must have been enticed by the smell of the snacks that Sullivan had bought. There were many snacks that emitted an irresistible aroma.
Koneko's eyes sparkled with excitement as she stepped out of the room and approached Sullivan.
"May I have some, please?"
She asked politely and cutely, unable to resist the temptation any longer.
Sullivan chuckled and nodded. How could he resist the adorable request from Koneko? He handed her a few snacks and was delighted to see her happy expression.
"Thank you"
"No problem."
Rias saw how Sullivan treated Koneko and she was sure now that she had made the right choice. He was far better than that pervert bastard.
Rias went out of Sullivan's room to let them have some time together. Koneko might get better if she sticks close to Sullivan.
…
Koneko ate snacks with Sullivan.
Right now, Sullivan is a Yokai so Koneko feels kinship with him. She didn't open up her mind to anyone like this except for a few, like Rias and Akeno.
As they enjoyed their snacks together, Koneko couldn't help but feel comfortable and trust in Sullivan's presence.
It was as if their shared yokai nature created an unspoken bond between them, allowing her to let her guard down in a way she rarely did with others.
"This thing is too delicious. I will buy it more."
"You can't eat them too much; otherwise, you will get fat."
"Fat? What is that? Huhu, my metabolism wasn't that weak for a mere cake to do anything!"
Both enjoyed the playful banter. Even though Koneko was stoic all the time, Sullivan noticed that the light in her eyes lit up a little whenever they engaged in these lighthearted conversations.
They finished their snack, which could make ten big eaters get full. Then Koneko led Sullivan to the place that Rias would use as the training ground.
The training ground was located in the basement of the mansion.
It was a spacious area with various training equipment and a large open space for combat practice.
Koneko explained that Rias had designed the training ground to cater to the unique abilities and strengths of each member of her peerage.
'Rias, this version is really good. Maybe she'll be able to surprise me.'
And as he was walking through the training ground, Sullivan heard someone call him from the shadow realm. And it was Scathach.
'Why did she call me at a time like this? And why didn't she just speak to me?'
Sullivan could not go to the shadow realm right now. So he just tried talking to her but what he heard was absolute silence.
'Wait a minute. The shadow realm shouldn't be this silent; don't tell me.'
