I am Thor

Chapter 203: Chapter 203: Arena Challenge

At the edge of Wakanda, atop a sacred cliff overlooking the sprawling savanna, the ceremonial pool shimmered under the sunlight. Female guards of the Dora Milaje stood at attention, their spears glinting, their faces stoic as they observed the ritual unfolding.

The voice of the elder Zuri rang out solemnly, echoing through the assembly. "The power of the Black Panther will now be stripped from the king."

T'Challa sat still as the ancestral energy left his body, the strength and agility of the Black Panther fading. Rising, he turned to face Erik Stevens—Killmonger—standing tall and defiant, the scars on his chest marking his violent path.

"This is your last chance," T'Challa said firmly, his tone offering reconciliation. "Lay down your weapons. We can resolve this without bloodshed."

Erik's lips curled into a sneer. "My whole life has been leading to this moment," he spat. "I trained, schemed, and killed for this! I've waited too long, fought too hard, to back down now."

He ripped off his shirt, revealing the intricate pattern of brand marks on his skin. "Every scar represents a life I've taken. Brothers, sisters, strangers—it didn't matter. Every death was a step closer to standing here and taking what's mine."

T'Challa's eyes narrowed. Seeing there was no reasoning with him, he nodded at Zuri.

"The challenge begins!" Zuri declared, and the air around the cliff crackled with tension.

Meanwhile, far across the galaxy on Sakaar, Thor found himself seated in a lively tavern. A system panel floated before him, displaying three names and a countdown timer ticking ominously: 10:00… 9:59… 9:58.

The notification echoed in his mind:

[Challenge Ticket Activated: Select one of three characters for battle. Win to summon a corresponding character. Equipment is not allowed. Failure forfeits the ticket.]

Thor groaned, leaning back in his chair. He had returned to Sakaar after dealing with Ego and settling matters with the Guardians of the Galaxy. He'd considered sticking around longer—Star-Lord still owed him two meals—but given Quill's mood, Thor figured it was best to write it off for now.

Besides, Sakaar had its own distractions. Onyxia, his ever-eager companion, had taken a liking to the arena, where she was cutting a fiery swath through challengers, her black dragon form leaving spectators in awe. Thor, on the other hand, was less enthusiastic about the arena's distractions and declined the hostess services offered by Grandmaster's entourage.

Now, staring at the system panel, Thor sighed. "Alright, let's see who I'm up against."

[Available Challenges:

Clark Kent Superman (Justice League Unlimited)

Jean Grey (X-Men: Apocalypse)

Godzilla (Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters)]

Thor blinked at the choices. "What the Hel?"

Clark Kent. Superman. The Man of Steel. Thor couldn't help but grimace. He was no stranger to fighting gods, titans, or Mad Titans, but Superman? He didn't even know where to begin. His strongest attacks wouldn't leave a dent, and without equipment, it was laughable.

Then came the second option: Jean Grey, a Level Five Mutant. Dark Phoenix, Thor thought grimly. The sheer destructive potential made even the Man of Steel look like a warm-up. "Soaring through the cosmos," he muttered, "and I can't even touch her."

The third option? Godzilla. The massive kaiju was no pushover, especially in its fully energized state. But at least it was something he could punch without being incinerated instantly. The thought wasn't comforting, but it was better than nothing.

"Ugh," Thor groaned, running a hand through his hair. "Mountains of gold, and I'm stuck picking scraps. What a joke."

The timer continued to tick: 3:00… 2:59… 2:58.

Suddenly, an idea struck Thor like a lightning bolt. His lips curled into a sly smile. "Wait a second…" He leaned closer to the system panel, his blue eyes gleaming with mischief.

"Select challenge: Jean Grey."

The patrons watched in surprise as Thor's form began to shimmer, becoming translucent before vanishing entirely.

"Hey, wasn't that…" one patron began, his voice trailing off.

"Yeah," another chimed in, eyes wide. "The champion of the arena a decade ago. Pikachu!"

Thor materialized in a strange, desolate arena. The ground beneath him felt solid but shimmered as if it were not entirely real. Across from him stood a young woman with fiery red hair, her eyes wide with fear and confusion.
