I am Thor

Chapter 168: Chapter 168: The Hive

In a ruined base, a man and a woman faced off in a tense standoff.

"Give it up. You're destined to serve me," the man sneered at the woman before him, his gaze unsettling.

Without a word, the woman fought desperately against the parasitic influence coming from Ward—or rather, from Hive.

Her body shimmered with a faint layer of golden divine power, a gift from Thor that he had given her casually long ago. Normally, it didn't seem to do much, but in this moment, it was proving invaluable.

Skye—now known as Quake, Daisy Johnson—had recently discovered her heritage as an Inhuman, along with the superpowers she'd always dreamed of. But right now, she was in the gravest danger of her life.

Hive, the first Inhuman, possessed the ability to release parasites that forced other Inhumans to submit, compelling them to serve him with unwavering loyalty. If Hive succeeded in controlling Skye and sending her back to S.H.I.E.L.D., she would be a powerful tool for him.

In desperation, Skye pulled out a communicator and pressed a button.

Hive noticed her movement and sneered. "No one's coming to save you. Even if your friends arrive, they'll just add to my collection."

"Oh, is that so?" came a cold voice from behind.

"Who?" Hive spun around, startled, to see a tall blond man in a red cape and silver armor standing there.

"Thor! Help!" Skye cried out, her relief palpable.

Unlike the streetwise hacker from the original story, Skye had been adopted by Peggy Carter in this timeline, making her a bit more innocent and naive.

With no words wasted, Thor strode forward and punched Hive in the face, smashing his head with a single blow.

"Wow! That was awesome!" Skye exclaimed, running up to hug Thor's arm.

"You're…an Avenger," Hive's voice came again as another corpse on the ground rose up, displaying one of Hive's abilities—the power to possess corpses, a form of twisted immortality.

"Be careful," Skye whispered to Thor. "This guy has a lot of weird powers!"

Over the centuries, HYDRA had sent countless followers to Hive, and he had absorbed hundreds, maybe thousands, of human skills, languages, and fighting techniques. He was, in some ways, an unstoppable force.

But as far as Thor was concerned, Hive was still just a particularly resilient human. And Skye was his friend.

With a sneer, Thor landed another punch. This time, Hive raised his arms to block, but the sound of bone snapping was unmistakable. Before Hive could register the pain, Thor lifted him high and slammed him into the ground, his head exploding on impact.

"Um…if possible, maybe a little less brutal?" Skye suggested, sticking out her tongue. She wasn't scared, but the gory sight was a bit much.

"You'll regret this!" another corpse snarled as it stood up, Hive's voice taunting. "You can't kill me! Like HYDRA, cut off one head, and two more grow in its place!"

Thor rolled his eyes. "Ignorant fool. A monster created by the Kree calling itself a god? Let me show you what a real god can do."

He scooped Skye into his arms, leaped hundreds of meters into the air, and summoned a massive lightning storm that blanketed the entire area around Hive.

Despite his enhanced strength, Hive's body couldn't withstand the lightning for more than a second. It was reduced to charred remains almost instantly. Each time the parasite attempted to attach itself to a new host, it was destroyed in the storm before it could even take form.

With each rebirth, Hive's body grew weaker. He regenerated only to die again, over and over, until finally, he could no longer sustain himself.

"No…this can't be!" Hive's last scream was full of rage and despair. But there was no escape. HYDRA's so-called "god" was destroyed, his existence erased from the world.
