I am Overhaul in Jujutsu Kaisen World

Chapter 51: Sorry, I'm Straight

With a natural grace, he leaped forward without hesitation, heading for the last place he'd seen his ally. The rubble was heavy, the flickering flames casting ominous shadows over the collapsed metal walls.

"If you're still in one piece, now's the time to speak up."

A faint metallic groan answered his call. Ryosuke rushed over, shoving aside a massive beam blocking the path. Beneath it lay Mechamaru, his armor dented and smoking.

"Hey, look at that. Still standing. Well, almost," Ryosuke said with a sly grin, extending a hand to help.

Mechamaru sluggishly lifted his head, his eyes dimly flickering. "That's the second avatar you've wrecked," he growled, his voice crackling with interference.

Ryosuke let out a hearty laugh, rare enough to cut through the oppressive atmosphere of the ruins. "Still complaining, Mechamaru? Don't worry. I'll fix it this time."

Placing a hand on his mechanical companion's smoldering frame, Ryosuke closed his eyes. Instantly, Mechamaru's battered armor began to repair itself. Plates realigned with precise clicks, cables reconnected as if by magic, and sparking joints mended until the surface gleamed like polished steel.

When the transformation was complete, Mechamaru stood tall, his armor immaculate, as if untouched by fire or debris.

Ryosuke stepped back, shoving his hands into the pockets of his coat. "There, good as new. No more reason to give me the cold shoulder, right?"

Mechamaru raised an arm, inspecting the adjustments as his armor hummed softly. "Impressive," he admitted after a pause, his mechanical gaze locking onto Ryosuke. "But seriously, your power... it's both incredible and terrifying. What you can do—it's beyond comprehension."

Ryosuke shrugged, a faint, enigmatic smile playing on his lips. "Terrifying? Maybe. But as long as I'm on your side, you've got nothing to worry about."

"That doesn't make it any less unsettling."

Without a word, Ryosuke turned on his heel and started walking, his boots crunching softly against scattered debris. His hands remained buried deep in his pockets.

The two moved side by side through the chaos of the ruins. The ground beneath their feet creaked, littered with metallic shards and rubble. Dying flames cast shifting shadows, making the scene even more haunting. Mechamaru glanced around, taking in the devastation.

"Honestly, you really overdid it, Ryosuke. It's like a giant hurricane hit this place... and I'm not just talking about the Scourge."

Ryosuke, still grinning and unbothered, shrugged without breaking stride. "Overdid it? Me?" he said, feigning innocence. "You're forgetting—I wasn't the one who summoned a thousand-meter colossus to wreck the joint. That was our dear friend, the Scourge. I'm just defending myself."

Mechamaru rolled his eyes—or at least the mechanical equivalent of it. "Defending yourself, huh?" He paused, gesturing toward an especially obliterated area, now reduced to charred fragments. "And that? Was that also 'just defense'?"

Ryosuke glanced over lazily at the destruction before shrugging again, as casual as ever. "Look, if the Scourge hadn't decided to play 'Supreme Destroyer,' none of this would've happened. So technically, not my fault. I'm just an innocent bystander caught up in the chaos."

Ahead, the black curtain of night loomed ominously.

Ryosuke stopped just a few steps from the shimmering barrier, its hypnotic ripples dancing in the dim light. He ran a hand through his messy hair before stepping through without a second thought.

Behind him, Mechamaru hesitated for a moment before taking a step forward. As he tried to cross the barrier, an invisible force slammed into him, forcing him back two steps.

Startled, Mechamaru tried again, this time pressing his palm against the barrier. The moment his hand touched it, the force repelled him again. "What the...?"

Outside, Ryosuke had paused a few paces beyond the barrier. He turned, raised an eyebrow, and smiled.

Movement caught his eye. A figure lounged casually on the roof of the car they had arrived in.

The man had long, jet-black hair, with a few loose strands. He wore a traditional black robe with a high collar and a faint smirk on his lips. His eyes fixed on Ryosuke with a curious glint.

"Fascinating," the man said, his voice smooth and almost admiring.

Ryosuke narrowed his eyes slightly. "Charming compliment," he replied with a wry smile. "But sorry, I'm straight."

The man laughed, a light, easy sound. Tilting his head slightly, he let his gaze drift briefly to the barrier behind Ryosuke. "Protecting your friend?" he asked, his tone mockingly innocent.

Ryosuke let out a short laugh of his own, shaking his head. "Protecting? Not quite. Let's just say I'd rather avoid distractions."

The man nodded slowly, his smirk widening. "Interesting," he murmured, almost to himself. Then he focused back on Ryosuke. "Tell me, young man… what kind of person wields a power this… unique?"

Ryosuke crossed his arms, his smirk never faltering. "And what kind of person spends their time watching others from the roof of a car?"

The man laughed again, his presence growing more oppressive with each chuckle. Behind them, Mechamaru continued fumbling with the barrier, oblivious to the conversation outside.

The man leapt down from the car, landing softly as though gravity itself bent to his will. His sandals hit the ground with a faint tap. Straightening up, he brushed off his black robes lazily before locking eyes with Ryosuke.

"Geto Suguru," he said smoothly, his voice calm and composed. He inclined his head slightly in a mock greeting. "I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. Who would've thought I'd run into such a fascinating young jujutsu sorcerer in a place like this?"

Ryosuke, his hands buried deep in his coat pockets, tilted his head to the side, his expression unreadable. A lazy, almost taunting smile spread across his face. "Fascinating, huh? Sounds like you're jumping to conclusions. Don't you think?"

Geto's smirk widened. "Perhaps. But it's not every day you meet someone like you. In fact…" He paused, savoring the moment. "Would you happen to be the sorcerer Gojo Satoru was so desperately searching for last month?"

Ryosuke let out a short, mocking laugh. "Really? That's your guess? Based on what, exactly? A few half-baked rumors?"

Geto didn't respond right away, studying Ryosuke with the intensity of a predator stalking its prey. Then, with a faint smile, he asked, "And what about you? What do you have to say about yourself?"

Ryosuke's smirk turned sly. Pulling one hand from his pocket, he scratched the back of his head nonchalantly. "Me? Nothing special. Just a first-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High. A total rookie."

Geto's eyes gleamed with amusement. Shaking his head slightly, he said, "Come now. You and I both know I'm not going to buy a story that flimsy."

Ryosuke sighed dramatically, rolling his eyes skyward. "Honestly? Works for me if you don't believe me." His gaze locked onto Geto's, and his smile sharpened into something far more dangerous. "Now, tell me... what's your next move?"
