I am not a daughter of the vampire queen!

57. Nika

A cold sweat ran down Julia’s neck. Sure,  she wasn’t that skillet when it came to magic, but still. The spell she had used should have been one of the stronger ones she knew. And yet, this girl claimed Julia was holding back.

"We are no longer 10, you know? Why use such light spells."

Julia went pale as she heard the girl talk. One of Julia’s spells was no more than childish play to her. Now, more worrying was the fact that Kana seemed not to want to hurt her.

"Well, I guess it is my turn now."

The girl smiled, and a ball of electricity surrounded by blades of water manifested in her hand. Julia stared at the activation spell in awe; never before had she seen a spell combining two elements. In fact, it should have been impossible, and yet here she was.

"Here I go."

With a smile, the girl sent the spell flying toward Julia. Julia closed her eyes, expecting to be killed at any moment. After all, unlike the girl in front of her, Julia doesn’t know any barrier she could have cast. Besides, even if she did, it would probably be pointless.

But nothing happened. When she opened her eyes, she saw Kana shielding her. A bit of water dripped from her as a slight electric current clearly went through her body.

Aww, come on, Kana. This is cheating."

The girl pouts, as she looks at Kana. Julia felt as if an entire ocean had been dropped on her, and a strong wave of relief washed over her. In an instant, Kana had become a savior for not only Julia but for world peace as well.

On her part, Kana didn’t at all seem affected by the spell she was hit with. She had only looked at Julia, and once she made sure she was okay, Then she turned back to the girl.

"Master isn’t currently at her formal level."

Kana spoke without any sign of emotion in her voice. And yet, she sounded angry. The girl seemed to have noticed this, as she stopped pouting and intently listened to Kana.

"In her current state, the spell you were about to use. It would have killed her."

Julia felt her soul leave her body for a bit. Kana’s voice was essentially dripping with poison, despite her emotionlessness state. The girl stares at Kana, then at Julia with a blank expression. As she registers how terrified Julia looks, the girl gasps.

"Why didn’t you tell me!? I am so sorry."

The girl threw herself at Julia and hugged her tightly. Julia could swear that the girl is sobbing on her shoulder. The hell?

"Sister, how did this happen? How did your abilities disappear?"

The hell I know! Julia wanted to scream at the girl. She had no clue what the girl was talking about. But she knew one thing for sure, this girl had an extreme case of sister complex.

"Master doesn’t remember the past. Not you, not me, not her abilities."

Kana interjected. The girl then carefully looked at Julia then moved slightly away from her.

"You really don’t remember me?"

She asked quietly, looking at Julia with hope. Julia shook her head. The sooner this girl gets off her delusion, the better. Then she can be on her way, and relax nicely in the palace while letting her mother spoil her.

"That won’t do. I promise that I will get your memories back, eldest sister."

The girl squeezed Julia’s hand and looked at her with loving eyes accompanied by an equally loving expression. It was the type of expression that would charm most people.

She looked at Julia with a look that said, "Leave it to me". Which worried Julia. For whatever reason, she deluded herself into thinking that Julia is her older sister.

"I told you I am not your sister."

"Heh, you just don’t remember."

She smiled sadly and leaned towards Julia.

"But I know that within your heart you still knew that I am your dear little sister."

The girl put one hand on Julia’s heart. And put one of Julia’s on her own cheek. She looked at Julia with a dazzling smile. Julia, though, only gave her a blank expression as a reaction.

"I don’t."

Julia said. The girl was just full of nonsense. But despite Julia’s reactions to her claim, the girl just continued to look at Julia with complete conviction.

"You will remember soon enough."

She smiled, rubbing Julia’s cheek. Then she gave Julia a quick kiss on the forehead. As Lily seemed to want to rip the girl to shreds, the girl got off the bed and, with her hands behind her back, walked towards the door.

"Sister, I love you."

She smiled as she looked back at Julia. At this point, Lily clings to Julia and bares her fangs at the girl while growling. To calm her down, Julia patted her head, which had the desired effect.

The girl giggled as she looked at the two.

"You barely changed."

She murmured as she opened the door; as she steps into the hall, she stops and looks back.

"If you need anything, sis, you can just ask her."

The girl motioned to the cat-eared maid standing by the door. The maid bowed lightly the moment she was mentioned.

The girl closed the door and left Julia behind with her two companions.

"Why didn’t you let me kill her? and why does she know you?"

Julia questioned Kana. She had no illusions that she would be able to fight her way out. But she still felt betrayed by her. not to mention the strange familiarity between them.

"Lady Nika?"

Kana asks before continuing.

"She is the master’s younger sister. Of course, I wouldn’t hurt her."

Kana spoke as if it were obvious. Wait, does that mean that that girl is the younger sister of Kana’s creator? If so, then… that means she is at least 2000 years old. A sudden sense of dread came over Julia, and not even Lily’s cuteness could calm her heart.

Happy Easter, everyone. (as well as anything else you might be celebrating.)
