I am Loki the Frost Fruit Ability User

Chapter 5: CH 5

Midgard Becomes Earth, Sardinia

From high above the tranquil sea, a streak of white bisected the water's surface, extending all the way to the shoreline. Upon closer inspection, it wasn't a natural phenomenon at all—it was a road of frost and ice, stretching across the waves.

At the end of this icy path was a figure, a small black dot steadily approaching the coast.

That figure was none other than Dru-Zod, traversing the Mediterranean Sea on Earth—what Kryptonians often referred to as Midgard. But this wasn't just any ordinary journey.

The "vehicle" Zod rode was a bicycle made entirely of ice, designed and sculpted using the Cryogenic Force Manipulation ability he had mastered after years of training.

Soon enough, Zod arrived at the coast of Sardinia. There, on the golden sands, sat an elegant deck chair and table, both crafted entirely from ice as well. Zod reclined in the chair, gazing out over the azure waters while the soft breeze brushed against his face.

Rarely did he have the chance to enjoy such peace. He reached for a sterling silver flask and a small crystalline glass from the icy table, pouring himself a drink. The liquid inside instantly froze upon contact with the frosted glass, turning into an icy, chilled beverage.

Yet, judging from the dissatisfied look on his face, the wine's quality left much to be desired.

The bottle had come from Sardinia's current ruler—well, to be more precise, the lord had "offered" it as a gift to his newfound Kryptonian "deity."

With the limited brewing knowledge of this era, however, the wine was hardly worth savoring.

Odin's Vault Becomes Kryptonian Artifacts

Zod's trip to Earth wasn't a mere vacation. He had accompanied Jor-El and Kal-El to the planet as part of a special mission.

Jor-El's goal? To relocate the Phantom Drive Core, an artifact containing raw dimensional energy, from the Vault of Rao to a hidden location on Earth—a primitive world at this time.

The artifact's immense power had drawn the attention of Krypton's ruling council. After learning that it could potentially be used as a weapon to breach dimensions, Jor-El decided to remove it from Krypton entirely and hide it on Earth, the least developed of the Seven Worlds.

"Midgard," as Kryptonians referred to Earth, was an insignificant, overlooked realm. Even Krypton's advanced surveillance systems rarely paid it any attention. Jor-El believed it was the perfect hiding spot.

But Zod, who retained the memories of his previous life, knew better. He knew that Earth's inhabitants would one day develop technology capable of harnessing the artifact's energy—and that its power would cause countless future calamities.

Despite this knowledge, Zod didn't interfere with Jor-El's decision. Persuading him would be nearly impossible, and besides, Zod had no intention of disrupting his well-earned vacation.

Plans for Kamar-Taj

As Zod sipped his frosted wine, he thought about another goal he'd set for this trip—visiting Kamar-Taj, Earth's hidden sanctuary of mystical knowledge.

Although Kryptonian science and magic were worlds apart, Zod knew that the Supreme Sorcerer of Kamar-Taj, the ancient master of Earth's magical arts, was a being of incredible power, on par with Kryptonian legends like Rao.

If he could learn even a fraction of their wisdom, it would undoubtedly bolster his strength and help him overcome the bottleneck he had reached after years of training.

But Kamar-Taj was notoriously closed off in this era. Not even the invasion of Earth by the Warworld Warlord Mongul decades earlier had drawn the Supreme Sorcerer out of hiding.

Knowing that a formal visit was impossible, Zod began to hatch a plan. If I can't walk through the front door, I'll sneak in through the back.

Zod had full confidence in his illusionary techniques and his ability to cloak his movements.

A Bottleneck in Growth

Over the years, Zod had pushed his abilities to their limit. By the age of fifteen, he had surpassed even Krypton's most renowned scientists in their understanding of cryogenic energy. He had also mastered all known combat techniques taught by the House of El.

By the time he turned eighteen, the positive feedback loop between his Kryptonian cryogenic bloodline and his abilities had plateaued. His physical and magical growth had stagnated.

Now, in his twenties, Zod found himself in a frustrating position. Unless he encountered another miraculous "adventure" or power boost, he would have to wait centuries to achieve significant growth.

"Adventures like that don't happen to just anyone," Zod muttered bitterly. "Unless, of course, you're the protagonist of a story—or you're cheating the system…"

Zod glanced at the system interface floating in his mind. While the system had helped him gain tremendous power early on, its missions were becoming increasingly unreasonable.

The System's New Mission

The system's third mission had remained incomplete for over a decade, not because Zod wasn't trying, but because its requirements were absurdly difficult:

[Mission 3: Prince's Revenge!

"I waited for years for this chance. I don't fight to prove myself great—I fight to reclaim what was taken from me!"

Objective: Avenge the betrayal of the Kryptonian colony's leader, Alura Zod, and reclaim control of Warworld. Ascend as its rightful ruler.

Reward: A legendary system upgrade and mastery of transdimensional energy.]

Zod clenched his jaw as he reread the mission description. Taking on Mongul's Warworld, a mobile fortress armed with technology capable of wiping out entire solar systems, was sheer madness.

He understood the stakes, of course. Completing the mission would give him the power he needed to break through his current bottleneck and ascend to new heights. But the risks were astronomical.

A Plan in Motion

For now, Zod decided to focus on the smaller, more manageable goal of infiltrating Kamar-Taj.

"I remember reading about their library," Zod muttered to himself. "The Book of Vishanti, their greatest repository of white magic, and the forbidden Darkhold, filled with black magic from ancient times. Even if I can't use all of it, there's no harm in learning from it."

The thought brought a sly smile to his face.

Zod's confidence in his illusions and cryogenic abilities was unshakable. "After all," he mused, "if I could break into Krypton's Vault of Rao, Kamar-Taj should be a walk in the park."

For now, though, Zod leaned back in his icy chair, gazing at the ocean. "First, I'll enjoy my vacation. Then it's time to break into Kamar-Taj."
