Chapter 28: Chapter 27

"Hope! Calm down !"Dr. Saltzman's voice broke through the tension, laced with urgency. He was well aware of the Necromancer's ploy—baiting her anger, provoking her into a reckless mistake.

"You reek of his death," the Necromancer sneered, his voice cold and mocking.

Hope's expression darkened further, her fists clenched at her sides.

"I'm gonna check something," Jacob interrupted suddenly, his tone uneasy. "And, hey! Hope, don't do anything stupid while I'm gone, alright?"

Without waiting for a reply, he turned on his heel and strode off, heading toward the school's library.

The air was heavy in the library, its shelves lined with books that whispered forgotten stories. Jacob flipped through old records, searching for anything about the ancient war—the origins, the players, the weapons. Nothing he found matched what he needed. Frustrated, he glanced over his shoulder before slipping out, then he sneaked into Dr saltzman office to read some of the books in there.

"Maybe he keeps the real answers hidden in here," Jacob muttered under his breath as he reached for the doorknob.

But before he could twist it, the door creaked open from the inside.

Jacob froze.

the door was opened by Cassie, A.K.A Raf's dead girlfriend. Her eyes were blank, her face expressionless as she brushed past him like a lifeless automaton, her movements unnaturally stiff and deliberate.

"What the hell—?" Jacob whispered, watching her disappear down the hallway like a ghost on a mission.

"Weirdo~" whispered Jacob, and just as he was about to go inside, he felt it again, the nauseous smell of dark magic. He smelled it very well.

The smell hit him then—that nauseating, oppressive stench of dark magic. It clung to the air like smoke.

His blood ran cold.

"Wait. The dead girlfriend!" He snapped back to reality, his heart hammering in his chest. "Oh, shit."

Without a second thought, Jacob took off after her, running towards the way Cassie went, when he got outside, he saw her walking in a very straight life toward the lake park, ignoring everything around her. She was oblivious to the world around her.

"Hey! Stop!" Jacob yelled.

The students around the campus turned their attention to Jacob and looked where he was shouting at!

"Aaa—fuck," Jacob cursed under his breath. The last thing he needed was an audience. His hand sparked with mana as he whispered a spell, magic charging his legs. "She's already dead anyway…"

In a burst of speed, Jacob closed the distance between them. He was on top of the girlfriend's head, His hand raised, ready to strike, when—

A gust of wind blow up his face, and a handsome black face with golden lighted eyes appeared right next to his side, his claw claiming down on Jacob's side. Then

Boom!!...

A strong wind current brushed throughout the area as a shockwave exploded from the impact, sending debris flying.

"I'm gonna ripe you apart Hero-boy!!" A pissed off voice sounded against the dusty mess then Raf appeared, his eyes turned into full golden, his face with more hair than natural, his ears pointy. His features growing more lupine.

"Hey, calm down man, look at your girl, she's being controlled, someone is pulling the strings like a puppeteer" Jacob voice sounded, a little embarrassment can be heard on it, when he appeared, his clothes on the left shoulder was ripped apart, small droplets of blood on his hand.

"We hav…." Just as he was about to explain, Raf jumped onto him, his eyes emitting brutality and wilderness. A claw full of furious aura head straight to his face.

Thanks to sparring with Hope, Jacob's reflexes were always top notch, so he avoided the the attack, the aftermath impact created a rise of small wind currents, blasting the remaining clothes on his upper body, leaving him to show the students watching how well ripped he was, a true creek-godly body.

However Jacob was really furious now, that attack just now was really vicious. Since when did he become a fucken passive dude? Huh?!!. During his training with the old man, there a few lessons he learned and top 5 of his list was is better to kill intentionally than be killed accidentally.

"Since this is the case, then let's fight Wolf-boy" he shouted inwardly. Then a familiar golden hue appeared on his forehead, his eyes golden as he embedded them with mana. A strong current flashed through his body as a heavy magic presence uploaded on the area.

"Mana amplification " He mumbled, all of this took half a second, and Raf was already on his second attack. Jacob refused to shine away, then fist collided, one round then they both backed away, then the second round of flesh to flesh continued, creating shockwaves that rippled through the air. Blow after blow, they fought, neither willing to back down.

As the fight continues, Jacob's focus sharpened as he funneled mana into his eyes, slowing Raf's movements. Every strike became predictable, every opening glaringly obvious. He increased the mana on his both hands as he collided with Raf's claws and knocked him out of his center of gravity.

Taking this chance, he increased mana on his forehead then he planted it on Raf's chest, sending him flying few feet backwards.

Raf spilled a bow of blood, then his eyes brighten even more gold, his figure increasing slightly as brushed off Jacob's attack and as he got up, gearing for another launch he heard

"Rune magic: Veil of Silence," he growled.

The spell hit Raf like a ton of bricks, distorting his vision and scrambling his senses. Jacob wasted no time, closing the gap. He grabbed Raf's head with both hands, he pinned Raf's head down towards him then a knee on his face! Blood spurting, then Jacob's hands on Raf's pointy ears, again, he pulled them down, dragging his face towards him again then, another massive knee on his face.

Raf's mouth bleeding as he backed back almost collapsing, but then he come back again with a strength more strong then ever, he headbutt Jacob, almost knocking him unconscious, Then, with a snarl, Raf sank his teeth into Jacob's arm.

Jacob groaned in pain. Lucky his reinforced body withstood the bite.

That was the last straw. Jacob unleashed his full mana in a violent burst, blasting Raf into the ground with enough force to crack the concrete. Raf rolled twice before coming to a stop, blood dripping from his mouth.

Jacob's face cold as he look at Raf struggling to stand up, then the moment he got on his two feet, he kept looking at Jacob with the same angry look.

The crowd was silent as Raf struggled to his feet.
