Chapter 12: Chapter 11

It was an early morning at Salvatore School, the morning light seeping through the windows. Josie approached Jacob's door, carrying a tray of breakfast. She rapped gently on Jacob's door, a faint sound muffled by the morning silence. The response she received wasn't what she expected—a sudden exclamation that seemed to echo through the dormitory halls.

"Aaa sofie, my bed, my beautiful bed, my poor beautiful bed, you're alright!" The commotion was followed by the door creaking open, revealing a slightly bleary-eyed Jacob.

"Hey there, you're alright, Jacob?" Josie's voice was soft and soothing as she entered, carefully balancing a tray of breakfast on one hand, her other hand reaching out to steady the load. "Thought you might need this after... you know, what happened yesterday."

Jacob, still in a state of slight confusion and drowsiness, turned to see the girl who entered his room.. "Who are you?" he asked, his words slurring slightly from the haze of just waking up.

"I'm Josie, Dr. Saltzman's daughter," she introduced herself with a warm smile, setting the tray down on a nearby table.

"Ooo, the old man has such a beautiful daughter? Shame on him. I'm Jacob," he replied, his gaze drifting as if trying to piece together the morning puzzle, trying to shake off the grogginess. Then, his expression shifted as a thought struck him. . "Wait, but you already know that. How do you know that? Why do you know that?" Jacob's curiosity took over, his eyes fixated on Josie, curiosity tinged with confusion, trying to make sense of the situation.

Josie let out a soft chuckle. "After what happened yesterday, everyone knows who you are," she explained, a knowing smile dancing on her lips. "That magic blast you did was pretty impressive."

Jacob blushed slightly at the compliment. "Thanks," he replied, a bit bashful. "Still getting the hang of all this, but I'll be good."

With a playful grin, Josie tilted her head slightly. "Are you sure you're feeling okay?" she teased, her eyes glinting with a mischievous glimmer.

Jacob, feeling awkward, changed the topic. "Where's Hope?" he asked. Josie explained that there was a report of a missing girl named Dana, and she, along with some students, including the self-proclaimed heroine Lizzie, her twin sister, had gone to find out what happened.

"Oh, you have a twin? Is she cute and pretty like you?" Jacob inquired. His words held no trace of lust; instead, it seemed like the genuine curiosity of a pure-hearted child, simply stating facts and wanting to know more.

Josie was taken aback by Jacob's openness and genuine curiosity, finding it refreshing. She smiled and replied, "And she's blonde."

"The hell, what kinds of gods did the old man Saltz pray to, to get that lucky?" Jacob's response made her chuckle, however without waiting for Josie to respond, Jacob dove into the food with an impressive speed. and man was he fast. He was really fast, like fast fast Fast!. Holy shit, his rapid consumption left Josie momentarily stunned by his speed.

Savoring a gulp of juice, Jacob glanced up at Josie with a curious glint in his eyes. "Why didn't you join them?" he inquired between mouthfuls.

Josie leaned back slightly, considering her response. "Well, after everything that went down yesterday, I thought it might be time to learn some offensive spells. And this school, you know, it's a bit lacking in that department," she explained with a thoughtful look.

Jacob nodded, though his attention seemed more focused on devouring the breakfast before him than on their conversation. He mumbled something that might have been an acknowledgment before plunging back into his meal.

As Josie made to depart, Jacob, between bites, managed to muster a question. "Say, where would one find books on magic around here? The more, the better," he queried, a glimmer of interest in his eyes.

Josie offered a nod, her expression shifting into one of helpfulness. She proceeded to provide him with some subtle hints on where to locate the desired volumes, ensuring he was well-equipped for his magical endeavors.

After filling round two, he found an opening to say few words "Appreciate it Josie, thanks for the break fast"

Josie smiled in response, her warmth evident in her eyes. "Anytime, Jacob. If you need anything or have any questions, just give me a shout," she offered, her words lingering in the air as she exited the room.

A while later............…

Jacob entered the library, feeling a buzz in the air that always got him fired up. Rows of books stretched out, promising secrets of magic waiting to be discovered. He dived right in, flipping through pages filled with spells and ancient wisdom. Every word seemed to stick in his mind, making him feel like a walking magical encyclopedia.

He got lost in the books, figuring out weird symbols and complex diagrams. Bit by bit, runes, those tricky little things, started making sense. The once cryptic symbols of runes began to unravel before him, their secrets slowly revealing themselves like a well-guarded treasure. With each stroke, the runes came alive, radiating a shimmering glow that seemed to pulse with otherworldly energy. As Jacob delved deeper into his practice, an unexpected phenomenon unfolded. An orange rune hex symbol' reappeared on his forehead. This enchanted symbol hex is called 'Glyph of Knowledge', its presence pulsating with a renewed vigour. Flickering with a surge of energy, it seemed to expand ever so slightly, its lines growing more defined, as if resonating with the magical aura suffusing the room.
