Wood Release is a rare kekkei genkai that comes with its own set of limitations. While it may be easy to use in some locations, the same cannot be said for the dry, desert terrain of the Land of Winds.

However, with a large chakra reserve at his disposal, he could still overcome the challenge of using this unique ability.

The wood release technique combines earth and water attributes, making it difficult to use in a place like the Land of Winds where sources of water are scarce. It would make more sense to use the technique on the battlefield in the Land of Rivers, where water is plentiful.

"What is this…? What's happening?"

"Was that… wood release?"

They exclaimed in disbelief. The Wood Release was supposed to be the exclusive kekkei genkai of the Senju Clan, the First Hokage of Konoha. But here was Fugaku, a descendant of the Uchiha Clan, wielding it. How could this be possible?

Fugaku ignored their queries and, with a bird chirping and a flash of lightning in his hand, dashed towards the enemy.

A sand shinobi was pierced through the heart by Fugaku's Chidori before he could react.

In an instant, he pierced through the heart of a Sand Shinobi with his Chidori before the latter could even react. He didn't cease his attack after killing one Sand Ninja. Rather, he capitalized on the advantage his lightning release gave him to finish off as many as he could.

"He... must... Uchiha... clan hea..."

The sand ninja muttered with his last breath, finally realizing who they were facing.

-------------------

Sand Shinobi team pov

One hour ago, their superior had given them orders to track down and eliminate a Konoha ninja who had allegedly annihilated a team led by Kagawa. And now, that ninja was hunting them down one by one.

It was rumored that this ninja possessed a rare technique that allowed him to manipulate plant life, forging deadly vines and branches with which to impale his foes.

No wonder they had no clue who he was, his Wood Release Ninjutsu was unheard of, and he did not leave anyone alive.

They had tried to lure him out but had not expected him to be that strong. Underestimating him had cost them dearly, and they had paid with their lives.

They had not intended to engage in prolonged combat; their only goal was to ambush him using a trap.

However, something wholly unexpected occurred. They were unable to move, watching in sheer horror as their comrades were impaled and skilled right before their very eyes, diminishing their ranks to just five.

--------------------------------------------

"Don't look down on me."

The last sand ninja watched as his fourth comrade was killed with ease by the enemy in front of him.

He seized the opportunity to attack while the enemy was distracted, but was impaled by a Fuma shuriken that flew at him from a different direction. He fell to the ground in shock.

As he tried to make sense of what was happening, he noticed a dozen ninjas emerging from the shadows of the trees, all with gas masks around their necks and red eyes.

They were all coming towards him, and he realized that he and his team had become their prey rather than the hunters.

He understood now why the intel had suggested that there was only one enemy. Whoever had sent the message must have known that they would not survive for long after delivering it. He hadn't seen the Konoha shinobis lurking behind them.

The last surviving sand shinobi turned and tried to escape, but he was quickly impaled by a lightning blade that pierced through his back and into his chest.

He slowly turned his head and saw the Uchiha clan head, holding the lightning release blade in the shape of a spear.

"Chakra materialization?" were his last words before he died. It was clear to him that the Chidori spear was a powerful mid-range jutsu.

"Clan head," Kaito asked with a longing look, "Can you teach me that jutsu?"

"Listen," Fugaku sighed, "you need a large chakra reserve to use it, and besides, we are at war. You have to call me captain."

Kaito's valuable assistance in the Konoha police force, with his two tomoe Sharingan eyes and a scar earned in border skirmishes, Fugaku maintained a more casual relationship with him than he did with other clan members.

"Yes, Captain," Kaito replied seriously. "So... where are we going now?"

"We've killed so many enemies along the way and allowed them to send out intel on purpose," Fugaku explained. "We should have drawn their attention by now. I think they'll send a few squads to stop us. Let's head towards the camp to ease some pressure on our side."

As they walked, Fugaku suddenly stopped, remembering something.

"What's wrong, Captain?" Akio asked curiously.

Fugaku smirked. "Haha, it turns out their puppet troops are on the left flank. Let's go. Follow me."

.............................

"How could this be..."

Kazuki's eyes widened as he gazed at the lifeless bodies and shattered puppets before him, his disbelief palpable.

Beside him, a thirteen-year-old boy mirrored his astonishment and confusion.

They had just encountered an unexpected obstacle, a blockade of fifty Uchiha clansmen. Following a brief but intense skirmish that left dozens injured, they were stunned to discover that the leader of the Konoha camp was none other than the head of the Uchiha clan.

Desperate to secure their advantage, Kazuki had signaled for puppet troops, consisting of three hundred skilled ninjas, to intercept their foes ahead. However, these puppet troops had been mercilessly decimated upon their arrival.

Their opponent, the Uchiha clan head, proved to be formidable, eliminating sixty puppeteers from the Suna camp.

But just as they thought they had defeated him, it revealed he was a shadow clone. He hadn't even resorted to high-ranking jutsu; otherwise, their entire team would have been annihilated. The mere thought of facing the real Uchiha clan head was terrifying.

Adding to their woes, news had reached them that another ninja, possessing a Sharingan eye, was hunting their camp's ninja within the jungle amidst their own camp, having already claimed the lives of fifty.

Kazuki felt a sense of urgency. He was a loyal follower of Rasa, who had recently taken on the role of acting Kazekage. This battle was crucial for Rasa to solidify his position as Kazekage. Failure was not an option, for it would invite accusations and opposition from those who doubted Rasa's capabilities.

Yet, their thousand-ninja army had already suffered over a hundred casualties before even reaching the enemy's camp. Meanwhile, it seemed their opponents had only lost a shadow clone.

The exaggerated loss of life sent morale plummeting among the Sand Ninjas. Kazuki couldn't help but grimace at the dire situation.

Then, a vulture approached Maki, who stood next to the thirteen-year-old boy. Maki extended his arm, and the vulture landed gracefully.

Maki retrieved a message scroll from the vulture, his expression darkening as he read it carefully.

Kazuki, observing Maki's troubled expression, felt a sense of foreboding.

"What's wrong, Maki?" The thirteen-year-old boy was Kazuki's apprentice.

"The right wing has lost a hundred ninjas. And it was another shadow clone of the Uchiha clan head who led them." Maki replied with a grave face.

Kazuki's heart sank. "A hundred ninjas? We haven't even officially engaged the enemy yet, and we've lost more than two hundred ninjas. How can we continue like this?"

The dire need for formidable combatants on the front lines was painfully evident. The Sand Ninjas lacked such skilled individuals, and those who possessed such strength were scarce—Chiyo, the Fourth Kazekage Rasa, and the missing Sasori.

"Captain Kazuki, should we press on with the attack?" Maki asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
